Today is my 52nd birthday, and I got to wondering about how others spend their birthday. Since about my 45th birthday, I have made it a 'Me' day! No work, no housework, no cooking, unless of course I just want too! lol I don't expect any gifts, I mean really, if I want something at this point, I go out and buy it! I normally receive birthday cards from my sister and my parents, phone call from my oldest daughter and birthday wish from my youngest. I also receive birthday wishes from friends on facebook, and really, the thought does actually count, it's nice to know they remembered and thinking about you. As for the 'Me' day, I spend it watching movies, or just chilling, normally though I spend the whole day scrapbooking, my obsession! lol So, how do you spend your birthday, celebrating, special dinner, cake? Or do you make it your own 'Me' day? Or perhaps, it's just 'another' day?

My birthday is coming near. It will be on January 27 however, I don't have any any plans of celebrating. Nothing unusual for the day. I will just be reading all the greetings in Facebook and just go on with my daily online jobs. If my partner takes sometime off from his busy schedule then we might have a small celebration. if he doesn't then it will just be like any ordinary day. No thrills, no excitement but gratitude to the Lord for all the blessings He has bestowed on me.

Happy early birthday! I also got a lot of greetings on Facebook, which made me think back to a time when you use to get birthday cards in the mail. I got one from my sister in snail-mail and my mom and dad took me to lunch the other day and had a card for me.

I do the same thing p.a., at my age I don't make a special 'thing' about my birthday, I just enjoy being alive, and try to spend this day as a 'me' day!
But if somebody needs me to work, or just help them out, I'm usually available, and do it later!
Oh, and Happy Birthday, and hope you have many, many, more!
By the way how have you been doing, these days?

Thank you Musicman! Finally got some time to get back onto mylot! lol I am doing great thanks, got so busy last year with the wildfires here in Texas, not much time for anything else. Hopefully, we don't have another year like last year. And hopefully I can get back on track with my scrapbooking business, about the time I tried to get it started, the wildfires kicked in! lol. Hope you are doing well.

First off, happy birthday!
Whatever that's worth, coming from a stranger.
I've always taken a day off work on my birthday. But that's because it's my oldest son's birthday as well. There is no ME time during the day, as it's mostly HIS time. But I do get a cake out of it, even though sometimes my name is left out!

Hello pal, a very happy birthday and more and more 'me' days too.
I do take the half day off and enjoy with my husband and children. Sometimes we plan an outing, sometimes it is dinner with all my favorites cooked by my husband. I love it that way when others really make u/us feel we are special for them. Most of the times on any such special days we make sure of visiting the nearby temple. A few remember to wish me but I am not bothered about the formality wishes on fb/ social networking sites. And yes, there were few years when i felt my birthday was just another day for me in my life. Have a great year ahead!

Well I will be 41 in March and I don't really do anything special for my birthday anymore. I usually like to just spend a relaxing day at home watching television and maybe a special dinner. I prefer to not have a party although I do enjoy having people wish me a happy birthday. As long aas nobody makes a big deal out of the day. Just keep it simple.

Happy birthday! It's a great way to celebrate your birthday. You are right, it's the thoughts that really counts. In my birthday, we usually just have special lunch with my family and friends. I rarely received gifts from anybody, but they too send card or messages. It's just a normal day for me. But one thing i don't forget to do is that i go to church on my birthday ( not only on my birthday) but this day is special, i would thank God for all the wonderful blessing in life.
By the way, scrap booking is a cool hobby.

Hi palonghorn
Its very innovative of you to come up with such an idea !
"Me" day.. hmmm... no work, no worries and a full day's rest... sounds pretty interesting. I too might have one when I reach your age, but for now it doesn't seem possible...
On my birthday I usually invite my old friends and friends from college for a dinner over my place and we enjoy eating, chatting and making fun of each other.. Its the same old stuff we have been doing since my childhood. It really feels good to have your friends around on such an important day and I enjoy it a lot...

I just celebrated my 41st and with friends.
We cook at home and have fun as simple as that.
I am not a party goer anyway, so, celebrating at home is fine.
I don't know for the coming years- but, maybe the same routine- cook at home with friends and loved ones.

I love "Me" days!! My birthday is just another day to me. The only thing different that I do is go out to eat with the family - husband, 2 sons, 1 granddaughter. For me, I don't see what the big deal is (btw, I'm 52 also!). For my 5 year old granddaughter we do the birthday hoopla stuff. But....getting back to the "Me" days.... I get one about every 2 mos. I just need a day that I don't hear "Do you know where my hat is?", "What's for supper?" "Can you help me on the computer?", "Can you help me with my email?", "I'm trying to open this document but it's not letting me, can you please help me?" etc. On the phone - "Is it ok if I come over and do laundry?" "Can I borrow your car?".
Anyway, I like celebrating other people's birthday when I'm invited. I think it's great when people celebrate their birthdays. Everybody needs to do what they want to on their birthdays.
So have a great "Me" day!! I wish it to be a very relaxing, whatever you want, day!

Thanks Scoop! Have had a very good day...just taking a mylot break from scrapbooking, my obsession! lol 'Me' days are what helps ya keep your sanity, it's great that you give yourself one every couple of months. It's kinda like my 'me' vacations, roadtrips, by myself.....can stop when and where I want too, it's great.
