Hi guys, I just have a question, do you think that people have become overly dependent on technology?
As many of us have so many gadgets and other stuff, do you think you can set aside technology and just go back to the basic?
Can you live with out gadgets?

Hi emdjay23, it's too difficult for us who are used to rely on high technology since they are available. For me I could hardly without all those great gadgets that help me a lot in different aspects in daily life. Life would be really tough and inconvenient if I were to go back to life like my old ancestors living without any science tech products
Happy posting

I certainly do. Look how alot of kids are being brought up. Cell phones, laptops, notebooks and all manner of Wifi products to play video games. You aren't cool if you don't have the most up to the minute product too. I live without Wifi, cellphone, huge flat screen tv, etc. I have my laptop and a land line phone. No gadgets.

I am not really cought by technology, I don´t even watch television, and right now, I don´t even know where my cell-phone is, but, since I have internet at home, I have been spending on it, more and more time everyday, and I have managed to reduce the time I spend on it, doing other things during my day, but, it is kind of hard at first, I believe that technological resourses we have today are something good, but we have to be careful for not to let them to control our lives, but use them to make life momre confortable and stable.

yes that true, people sometimes get controlled by technology, you can see them so upset because they forget to bring one of their gadgets.. I sometimes get irritated when hassles came their way.. I just hope that people can still figure out ways to be resourceful when it comes to technology..

Basically, that is how technology works. It gives convenience and also overwrites the old ways with new ways and stuff. Going back to the basic is good as you know something from the past technology, but utilizing the new technology is better. Technology evolves, and we must adjust to it. It is more like a question of survival of the fittest. Those who can cope up with the technology are more likely to survive this fast paced technology compared to those who don't. But I can say that I can survive without those gadgets. I do feel that technology is useful, but some of it is rather not necessary and only for convenience sake. I can say that I can live without those "for convenience sake" technology gadgets and stuff, but I can't live without those technology which is an integral part of technology evolution. For example, I can live without the latest cellular phones and gadgets, but I can't live without a computer nowadays. The cellphones' new models and looks are just for convenience and wants sake, but as for the computer, it is already an integral part of life. Computer know how is already necessary to be able to compete in this technology driven world. I hope you get my point regarding this.

Really, I admire you because you said that you can survive without gadgets, as for me I guess its very hard to live without it, specially now a days that it became a the biggest role in everyday lives.. We work on technology, we transfer money and transactions through technology.. You're right that computer is necessary to be able to compete with technology.. Thanks for that..

can u imagine the little man that makes our lives easy. the man that disposes of our garbage; the man that produces food to eat and so and so on. they dont need technology to make these happen. my point is, gadgets and PCs only help to transport information faster; they dont make the actual product (unless of course the product is information). life is about living and experiencing. gadgets cant make u experience a feeling and not even simulation can compare to the real thing.

I think that people have become overly dependent on gadgets. If there were suddenly no more cell phones, I think that over half of society would be wandering around lost..lol. I would have to learn a lot of stuff over again if went back to the real basics...but I think I would be ok. I might have withdrawals for a while though.

I think we have come dependant on technology, but I think we can go back to basics if needed. I love to have all sorts of gadgets in my kitchen, some of which I don´t use very much. But I can go back to the knife and fork instead of mincer and beater if needed.

I can't live without the gadgets anymore. I'm a person made to use computers in every step of the way. Yes, it is true, without technology, mankind may return to the stone age again. It is also true that mankind are too depended on technology that it would become a very big trouble if technology would be lost. Human knowledge from hundreds of years ago would soon be forgotten in a snap; Human civilization may collapse...you can think up of worst situations...
But this, I tell ya, I love this age of technology so much that I had even just decided to work using my computer and internet connection ONLY. I can earn more money here in the net compared to getting myself some stranger whose IQ is lower than mine to boss me around and only give me a salary fit for a 10 year old kid to buy candy in the side walk...This age of technology is the most exciting and I pray apocalypse will delay until such time I die then it can come. lol

I agree with that, we all know that some of us becomes overly dependent on technology, and if ever these gadgets will be lost in their lives I don't think they can survive with it.. one of my friends told me that She'll die without her laptop, cellphone and other gadgets..
That's true at least if we have computer and an internet connection we can work and at the same time there will be no hassle, specially with those bosses who thinks they know everything..
Specially here in the Philippines, some of the bosses think that they know best but in fact they just rely on the workers ideas..

Well, the technology is here for our convenience in doing things. But it shouldn't be so relied upon at all times.
We should also try to do the basics whenever we are not in a rush. That way, if something happened to those gadgets and other technological things, we will not be at a loss on how and what to do using the basic things.
