If it wasn't for open internet growing up for me would have been completely different and I believe eventually I would believe I was living in a non-democratic society. Which is basically how I feel about US Congress banning sights that "infringe" on copyright laws. If I hadn't downloaded and "stole" a couple of bands CD's then I more than likely would have never heard of that band and therefore I would not be able to go their concerts or buy their merchandise. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Makes you think doesn't it. Perhaps all this "stealing" that is going on is actually a marketers dream and free exposure across the entire freakin world! The only reason the government wants to shut it down is because THEY DO NOT PROFIT FROM IT. We dont pay tax when we download a CD or a movie. We aren't watching television programs on television so we aren't exposed to the advertisements which funds the networks THEY CONTROL! It's all just a bunch of bs to control us and for them to keep profiting off the things we enjoy. I strongly feel that if this happens then there will be protests across a lot of different cities and I for one will be a participant. Keep the internet OPEN and STOP the GREED!

Yes, because the government can't profit from online users who downloaded from websites for their favorite movie and song, it want to make it as piracy and regard all these downloads as stealing. It is laughable for government to make such a childish claim since every owner has rights to upload their paid movie or song to a website for exchange or can grant permission to whoever who can't afford to pay for the original movie or song to download his or her uploads. The congress need to keep its hand off the internet and stop violate the rights of the people to freedom of information and ascessibility.

Amen. I think that these companies who cry about Internet piracy are not seeing the bigger picture. And that bigger picture is this. If they had just found a way to beat the pirates out their own game, making things a bit more accessible and also, not putting out such substandard entertainment for such high prices, then maybe this wouldn't be as much of a problem.
The fact is, the people who are really going to suffer from this is smaller companies, who I'm sure a vast majority of their sales have been gained to someone checking out their work on the Internet, finding it to be good, and exposing their product. Thus less people will be making money. Then again, its obvious that certain members of the government obviously have no clue about what the damage they are going to cause and as long as the entertainment industry keeps shoving money into their pocket, they'll keep going along with them. Given that anyone with a few functioning brain cells seems to be against this bill, this really tells you something, doesn't it?

Yes!, I absolutely agree to you dheppler89. I think this ban is just a way of making the free sites a "pay for every download" for them to profit on it. I do know that the uploading and downloading of free music, apps and movies on the net somehow affects their profit but they should know that in the first place they are the one making tactics to make their company more profitable, so why should the government make things worse??. Why don't they just let the things be that way??. Anyway, one must be knowledgeable on things that they have to download or else their system will be jammed with virus. Speaking of virus, the people who made such are also the people who makes the anti-virus for our system. That's sound really crazy right??. They are making virus to damage your software and they will sell you products that will make your system safe! A process that shows a one sided affair. If everything that we have to do over the internet is a paid for thing, then just let them go to hell!.. That will surely affect their business too cause there will be less people who would dare to access the internet due to the money stuff. I hope the government would realize what crap they are planning to do now. Better make some sense first.
