My husband has lost some weight and it’s so noticeable. Yet he insists that he didn’t lose weight. So I argued , that he did lost weight, because it’s the way I see it and what my office mate told me when she saw him also. I told him that the weight loss doesn’t look good on him and he seems emaciated with it. I urged him to have a medical check-up because it won’t cost him anything , since we have our health cards. But he said he doesn’t have time, to which I angrily told him that he better pay attention to his health, lest it’s a symptom of an illness such as diabetes or whatever. So last night, when he told me that he will fast after midnight because he is going to have a laboratory examination as well as an ultrasound for the prostate, I felt happy and relieved. I know, had I not urged him about it , he will not do it. Sometimes, my husband is kinda stubborn when it comes to his health.

My husband was then diagnosed in their company annual phsical exam being in his prediabetis meaning the blood glucose level was higher than normal but not enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Diabetes runs in their family so he's been cautious then to live healthy. Glad he don't smoke and an occasional drinker not to add severity. The doctor adviced him to go on diet and be physically active. He followed all the advices that he lost his extra weight and now in his normal BMI (Body Mass Index). But her mother noticed his thinning and told me if I'm taking care of his son because as for her, hubby don't look good when slim (what a mother *LOL). She said that my husband looks problematic and nothing to eat *hahaha*. Anyway, I have a good relationship with my mother in law just an fyi *wink! My husband just explained to her what good health benefits he is enjoying now. When he slimmed down his eyesight improved, feeling light and he really feels good he said. And he looks macho to me because he can now wear a body fit T-shirts *LOL Your husband should be glad that you're there to watch his health and really care! And Oh! He's following your order maam *wink! It's because he knows you were right...

When a person was formerly big bodied and would gradually becomes thin, persons who knows his former body build might wonder if something went wrong with his health. That is the impression, until they come to know that it was intended as the case of your husband. But honestly, when a person slims down, he/she looks different because he /she somewhat have a sagged face or wrinkles.

How happy you are! Saw that your husband was going to have a medical check-up.Perhaps he was a bit tired of what you urged him to do over and again, but he felt from the bottom of his heart that it was for his good. You are right!we mustn't be negligent of the suddenly losing weight .

I think his losing weight is too much stress from work. The results were finally out and they are all fine. Except that he has a mild enlargement of the prostate as his ultrasound showed and was interpreted by the doctor. But the doctor assured him that it's normal that at age 40 and above this happens. I still have to discuss it yet with him, when i go home tomorrow. I am here at my parents' house and is staying overnight.

Good for he!all is right.Men generally suffer from prostatic hypertrophy as the years grow on them. There is no need for you to worry about it.

I don't think it's exclusive to your husband, I think most men hate going to the doctor or check ups. It diminishes the feeling of invincibility, specially if there is some health issues found. It's great that he's lost weight. I hope it's all good though, and that his test didn't come up with anything.

His tests are all okay. Except that because of my prodding , (he frequently urinate at night and it would be a long time before it finally flows)he had also an ultrasound. My intuition was correct, that he has an enlargement of the prostate. Though, the doctor said it's just mild and nothing serious. He just have to monitor it and have a yearly ultrasound. But overall, he is healthy. His getting thin is perhaps the stress of his work.

I am happy you have health cards and medical examination is free, I and hubby both have health issues, we spend more than 6000 rupees every month in medicines and tests, recently i had to undergo ultrasonoscopy of the lower abdomen as i was having sever acditity and pain in lower belly, no abnormality could be detected.. Sudden loss of weight may be due to several reasons.. Lol not only your husband, my husband too is stubborn!!!! Happy posting, cheers. Kalyani

I think men are generally stubborn when it comes to seeing a doctor. They brag that they can feel if anything is wrong with their bodies. Yes, i am glad that me and my husband plus our daughter has health cards. It's given to us as a privilege by the companies we work with.

I think health cards can help you a lot. Such card can make sure that you have a proper health without spending any money on medicinal needs. I am very happy to tell you that I my family had also have such health card from ESI and my family is very lucky to have it.

Truly health cards helps us a lot in our medical expenses. I recently had an operation. The bills were taken cared by Philhealth and the Maxicare card, our office have for us. Husband's is Intellicare, which when we still don't have yet in our office, my husband pays for me. It was even better than my Maxicare.

hi simplyd, congratulations to your hubby. He's able to lose some weight. But why does he still think that he's still fat or something? I hope that his check up will turn out good.

Actually he is not doing any activity to lose weight. He is naturally just losing weight, even if he doesn't like it. So, seeing him lose some weight even if he doesn't do a thing about it, caused me to be alarmed. Hence, he had a check-up. Watch out for my new discussion about the result of his lab exams, my friend.

Hi Miss... Men are like that.. Extremely ignorent about the things like health etc... And that is why, every man needs a woman to discipline his life... LOL... My ex girlfriend used to take care of me the same way... Now, there is no one. Men are also ignorent about cloths they wear, shoes etc... As there isn't anyone, my overall look today is too bad... LOL... Thank you!

I agree my friend, that men tend not to be bothered by their health. They think that it's just a cold or a cough or nothing serious whenever there's something wrong with them. It's us women , who does the reminders or nagging , just so that they will see a doctor! I am glad you realized that, my friend.

typical of men like me, they don't like to have medical check up until something becomes serious. it also means that you wont enjoy eatin and doing what you want after seeing a doctor because there are a lot of forbidden foods to eat or things after this!

My husband's reason isn't like that though, my friend. It's just that he, being the team leader of their company, wouldn't like to miss a day without supervising his staff. So i have to nag him that their company cannot pay them much, if ever he gets sick. And so he relented . But my father is like that. Until he feels that there is something seriously wrong with him, he wouldn't go for a check-up.

Yeah I agree with you, although I don't have a husband but I have noticed man who don't pay attention to their health. THey don't care even they feel sick or something. They will just continue with their work and will only think that every changes in their body or a different feeling is just normal to them. I have to praise you for being such a good and caring wife for your hubby.

Thank you for saying so , my friend. I really have to do that, to ensure that we will grow old together not just die unexpectedly because of an unattended health issue. In addition, i would like to be assured that we are both healthy always. That way, we will not be burdened with expenses on medicines as we grow old.
