Did Manny Pacquiao's fights & boxing career have something to do with the Mafia?

I am not so much of a fan of boxing but whenever Manny Pacquiao has a fight, I would watch him as his fights always fall during weekends. But is it really true that Pacquiao's fights and even his boxing career are marred by some suspected Mafia involvement? or that the Mafia has something to do with some, if not all, of his fights/boxing career? What do you think?

Manny Pacquiao is a good fighter and we all know about that as true. This rumor must have resulted due to the choice of venue for the most recent fights which was held in Las Vegas, where we know there is the presence of gambling and mafia. Pacquiao can stop fighting anytime he wants to because he is now wealthy from all the winnings in boxing. He also has a political career in the Philippines as a representative of Saranggani province. He is also a singer, an actor, a television personality and a product endorser. I think what you heard was only a rumor out to discredit Manny.

Maybe it is. But there were fights when he said it would be the last but until now he keeps on fighting... Anyway, I hope he's fighting because he likes it and not because someone orders him to or not to. Thanks for the response :)

He's a good fighter, there's no question about that. I just heard from a friend that mafia seems to control him, that's why even if he wanted to retire from boxing, he wasn't able to because of it. So it was just out of curiosity that I've brought this up Anyway, thanks!
