Reading books is one of the things i like most, and I love collecting books, magazines and comics. I am planning to buy some books which Stephen King wrote? But I'm confused which and what series is really a very interesting one.. Had you read some of his books? What title is that then?

I love Stephen King. He is by far, my favorite authors. A really good book he has written is The Dome.
My favorite series though is The Dark Tower series. The first book is kind of slow, but after you get past it, it really is an awesome series.
Bag of Bones was good. Hearts in Atlantis is good too.
I think one of the things I really like about his books, he always puts something in each of them that kind of fits in with other books that he has written.
The Dark Tower even has stuff from other books in it.

You might start with some of his early books like Carrie, Salem's Lot or Christine, since they are shorter than some of the later ones. You can tell then if you like his style and then read more. Of the longer books, my favorite is The Stand which was actually issued in 2 forms. For the original, the forced King to abridge the book. Later, when he was more famous, he published the full version without cuts.

As I commented above my favorite is The Stand. I have only read the later, uncut version of it. I keep thinking sometime I'll read the first version just out of curiosity. Have you read both versions, and if so, what order did you read them in, and is the earlier one worth taking the time to read?

My favorite Stephen King book is The Stand. It starts with a plague which kills most of the population and then becomes a battle of good vs evil. A couple of others I like really well are Dolores Claiborne and Different Seasons. Different Season is a collection of 4 short novels, of the four, 3 have been made into movies: Stand By Me; Shawshank Redemption; and Apt Pupil.
A lot of people really like his Dark Tower series. I've only read one of those books and didn't really get into it at the time. Maybe because it's more of a fantasy, alternative universe type of fiction, whereas the ones I like better are regular people in the "real" world who have something weird or creepy happening to them. I'm sure there are people here who have read all of the dark tower books and will have much more to contribute to the discussion than I do!

I enjoy Stephen King's books but some are too wordy for me. I loved the movies for the Stand and IT but don't know if I could ever read the books. My favorites, though, have been Carrie and Firestarter. They are both good stories and if you have seen the movies, they follow the books very closely except for the ending which in both cases was better in the books.
