I know that there are a lot of people here on mylot that invest. I wanted to know what is up with the investment sites? Like when you invest a dollar or something do you get a certain amount back? I have been doing some research on a few sites, but I have not really understood the whole concept. Can someone help me out here? Thanks

Most (and almost all) online investments run Ponzi Scheme. They pay old members with money that they get from newer members. And they'll keep running the cycle, until no new members invest - then they turn scam.
I should mention that it's not really wise to invest your money on online investment. The risks are too high. If you can't afford to lose all of your investments, then better stay away..

Not every site is a scam. I found a site and don't think they will turn to scam. They are a sort of share brokers. Have only 2 months and almost doubled my investition trading shares.

Maybe not every online investment are scam, but as long as they are running Ponzi Scheme, they are destined to be scam. Maybe after days, weeks, or months - all depends on how much new investment being made.
Just think about one simple thing: how do they manage to pay you that much if it's only profit sharing?
If you ever learn about forex or such, you will understand that you can't guarantee the profit.

Don't invest in sites you don't understand its workings. I feel almost all HYIP are PONZI schemes like varier said at response #2. Just think how are they going to use our investment to make more money to pay you. It is impossible. Anyone who invested and got paid are just because they were the early birds in the scheme. Eventually the scheme will go scam as there is no way the HYIP can sustain their payouts with legitimate means. By that time the plan would have 128 times or more investing members compared to the time when you were paid. Please take a look at the possible growth rate of the plan: 1x2x4x8x16x32x64x128x256x512x1024x2048x4096x8192x16384 ...
So if you were involved in recruiting more members for it, you would have told your referrals that you were paid. So it seemed to be legit. But when it goes scam which is inevitably as logically the plan would not have enough to pay every investors. You would have been one of the PONZI scheme wheels that helped to attract victims. You may have gotten your friends and relatives who trusted you to become victims. Please think carefully and logically of those HYIP. Isn't it too good to be true?
