If you've never seen Return of the King, watch it here to catch up.....

I was surprised to learn (well, maybe I shouldn't really) that many were outraged and even protested against Aaron McGruder because they thought that it was outrageous to portray Dr. Martin Luther King saying the very word he fought so hard against.

I was one of the ones who felt his portrayal was spot on. I guess these people fail to realize that even though Dr. King did great things, he was still human. If he were to see the state of many of the black people today; and I'm not ashamed to say ESPECIALLY MY GENERATION....I know he would be anguished beyond belief. While we can't say that after what that man went through he would be moved to use that word; there's no doubt in my mind whatever Dr. King would say after seeing our culture would be shocking to say the least.
But what's your view on it (Especially those who just watched it through this post)? Do you find McGruder's portrayal of Dr. King offensive, or do you think with speculation it was actually on point?

people have deified king and forget he was a man. i appreciate king and all he did for the black community and all those involved with the civil rights but king was a regular black preacher that did great things. His deeds were great but he was a regular man with faults and errors. we all know about the cheating allegations that doesn't look good on him as a husband but his legacy is undeniable. now as for mcgruder, i like him but he is somewhat of a snob and iconoclast at times. people like him and spike lee have standards that they want black "folk" to adhere to and if they dont, they look down on them. King would be happy for the progress in some areas and disappointed in others
