Some of you guys here know that I am working online, full time! I give all my salary to my mom so she can budget it for the whole family. But right now, I realize, I should keep something for myself for future purposes. I will still give my mom though.. I'm in the process of opening my own bank account. So, I think its a good thing. Do you keep something for yourself too? I hope you do.

Hi edsss! I also think it's a good thing to have your own money. In fact, I think it's a must. That's what I do. I give my mother money and contribute to the household expenses but still, most of my money goes to me. If I give all my money to my mother, then I can't buy what I want and what I need. I would still have to ask my mother for money to be able to do that. And I'm way past over that. I mean, when I was still a student I would always ask money when I need to buy something. But when I started to work, I felt the freedom from earning my own money.

Well, I still borrow money from my mother when I'm short but I always return it to her.

Hi secretbear! :) It is indeed a must. Yea, I can relate somehow. When I was still in high school (even in the elementary days) and when I start working, I still ask my mom for some money because I want to buy something since I give everything to her. Wish I could be as free as you. The only thing I'm able to do now is open a bank account and put money in it everytime I have.

Right now I'm giving my salary to my mom too. I want to help her and finish all her debts but I also realized that. So my earning online is now for myself and I will save some money from my full time job also soon but now because they still need my help.

Yeah, that should be the responsibility of my older brother. But I cannot rely on him, I feel I'm the eldest even when I'm the second. Hmmm. I hope that my brother can have a job abroad soon. So that I can earn money. You know, I'm the one here is KSA and my brother is having good times in the philippines. Sorry, I feel kinda jealous and maybe I just miss the philippines. Just keep saving money :)

Me too. I'm helping mom to solve all her debts. I guess that is one responsibility most eldest have. Well, at least to both of us! I'm still helping them though but I really should save some amount.

That's actually not a bad idea. We sometimes have to keep something for ourselves from our hard-earned work. Rewarding ourselves can motivate us to keep on working and earn more. And opening a bank account is one prudent way to do it. Eventually your savings would grow and then you could also reward yourself again by buying something for yourself too :)

It's never too late to start. The important thing is you've decided to start. Just make sure you push through with your plan to open a bank account :)

My online money is my money. I usually keep it until I have a certain amount then I transfer it to my checking account. This year I am planning on keeping it in my paypal account until it gets closer to Christmas. I think it is nice that you give the money to your mom, but I would also put money aside for yourself in case you want something or just save for the future.

That is so sweet of you bunso! I wish my son is like you, lol! My son has a job now but I don't oblige him to give some of his salary to me,I just want him to voluntarily give me some, haha! But he's very much the opposite of you,but it's fine with me bunso,I told him to buy anything he wants from his money 'cause he deserves it. But my mom and dad are the ones asking for money from him, haha! My son is kind enough to give them more than what they ask for. As to your question,I think as a mom,all I just wanted is for my kids' needs. I wanted to buy something for myself but then I'll just spend it for my kids, haha! That's why hubby buys me anything he knows I wanted, haha!

Can you just be my mother, nay? Ah mother is kinda the opposite of you. My mom doesn't ask, but as the eldest, its my responsibility to give my salary to her.. But now, i can't wait to have my own bank account. But still, i'll give my mom some of my money.

Yes, my friend. Though, we have the intention of helping our family, we still need to keep something for ourselves. That way, we get to reward ourselves from working hard.

I keep mostly of my money. I don't gave it all to my parents. It is I who budget the money for our household. I find it really hard especially in my case that I belong to a broken family.

Hi edsss, It is such a great thing for you to give your salary to your mom for the family, but I think sharing is a great thing also... You should indeed think about yourself. I don't know how old you are but a bank account sounds good...every working person should have a bank account even if there is only $100 dollars in it... Have you ever heard the saying, "DON'T LET YOUR LEFT HAND KNOW WHAT YOUR RIGHT HAND IS DOING"...just think about that for a moment, ponder it in your head for a moment and you should be able to figure it out... GOOD LUCK!!!! you are a wonderful daughter!!!!

Thanks for saying that I am a wonderful daughter! :) Anyway, I'm 18. I can't wait to have my bank account and put my saved money in it! I'll put that saying in mind and try to figure out what does it mean. Thanks.

When you give EVERYTHING away it's got to be unmotivating. Don't feel guilty about keeping a bit for yourself, it definitely sounds well deserved. If I were you I would divide the earnings 50/50. You'll still be helping out your family, but your also learning to save for yourself.

Hi queen! :) 50/50? I think I can't take that. I'll go for 70/30. 70% to my mom and then the rest for me. I think it will just be that way since I'm still young.

Hi Eds, We do really need to give ourselves something for us to have that gift of fulfillment. It's like having the reward from all those hard days work. And giving us something to go buy for ourselves. I do think that's a good idea. I don't really give all my salary to my mom. I am just in charge with the bills and the rest of my salary is..for me. I always keep something for myself...just in case I would need it in the future. Have a nice day!
