I didn't understand the movie Inception's ending. I mean, I though he had come out of the dreams, but then he comes home and spins the top (Totem). While still being wobbly, it seemed like it was spinning forever.
What did that mean?

Cobb's totem is his wedding ring, not the top. He wasn't wearing the ring during the last scene of the movie, thus making it a reality. Whenever Cobb is dreaming, he has his ring on because in his dreams, he and his wife are still together.

So that would mean he's in his wife's dream, if it keeps spinning. Which would mean that his reality is her dream.
Or something.

In the movie Inception, the wobbling of a totem means Leonardo Di Caprio's character is still in his dream and when it stops means he is awaken or he is in reality, in the real world. The ending in Inception puzzled me also but one site explains that indeed, the wobbling implied that Leonardo Di Caprio's character was actually still trapped in his dream and returning home and seeing his children did not actually happen.

If the top falls, he's awake. If it keeps spinning, he's asleep.
It's a fairly unsurprising/unoriginal ending, the intention of which is to leave you wondering if he's really awake or if he's still in a dream (since you don't see whether the top falls or not).

cf. the end of X-Men with Magneto trying to make a chess piece move. Did it jiggle? Didn't it? Unoriginal but it captures attention.

This is one of my favorite movies of all. The director intentionally gives us the that ending to allow our minds explore and imagine what the true ending is. As for my interpretation, I think he is in the real world. The totem is wobbling and that's an indicator that it is about to stop. The story is really great and I enjoyed it so well.

well..it means he still in the dream..
but .. if u search in youtube..somewhere u will find ..the ending supposed to be the top stop spinning.voila! happy ending..
but director Christopher Nolan..think its better to keep the audience hangin; whether or not dicap..safely back to the real world or not.. so he cuts the film..just before the top stop spinnin'

Hi buoyancy every one of the characters had a special device to confirm if they are awake or in a dream.. Di caprio's was the totem which if continuously was spinning meant he was in a dream and if it fell meant he was awake..
The movie does not show whether it fell or was spinning to leave it to the viewers to decide.. When Nolan was asked about it he said the significance of the scene was not whether it spun or fell but the protagonist is finally with his children and happy , and does not care for the totem.. That is why they fade out showing his kids and not the totem falling/ spinning.. Cheers .
