Are Medium sized LCD displays more energy efficient than small box type TV?

I know that this question is a bit off because salespersons always says that the new appliances are always more energy efficient than the old type. I saw our energy bill for the last month and it was really high. I tried to google it but I can't find anything that tell's me that a 32 inch LCD display is more efficient than a 20 inch Box type TV. I am really on energy saving for the next month so if any of you know about appliances and energy consumption can someone pls. help me. Other energy saving tips are really welcomed.
