Need some help.

If you have read my posts the last few days you will see I am looking to start affiliate marketing. I have realised I cannot do this on traffic exchanges and am looking to do it using a free site. now I need help from those people who do affiliate marketing. I am looking to set up a free site and put products on there and then promote that site do you think this will work? Also how can I need ideas on how to promote this free site to get people to see the site and therefore buy the promoted products? How do you guys go about promoting products?
