Newt NOW doesn't believe that politicians private lives should be investigated?

Newt Gingrich attacked John King on Thursday night because media outlets have been investigating his private life, and former marriages. We all remember Newt supported the Ken Starr's witch hunt into Bill Clinton's private life even before he was president. We also remember how he attacked Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky scandal, while at the same time cheating on his wife. Gingrich has repeatedly pushed family values in his speeches, and his attacks centering on a LACK of family values by democrats. Yet, his three marriages, cheating on both of his former wives, and his attacks on anyone who will investigates his personal life leaves many wondering what exactly HIS family values are. Shouldn't the voters know if someone is lying to them? Why is Gingrich attacking the media for something HE did? Doesn't the republican party push personal responsibility anymore?

I'm going to mix religion with politics here: "Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." I prefer that over Karma, because Karma is the belief that you get back what you put out in the next life.

I would have to agree with you that judgement day for Newt would be something to see.

I applaud Gingrich for his lashing out at the most incompetent and disgusting US press in general and the lout John King specifically. Trash like him (and the rest of them) gave up any semblance of credibility of human decency long ago.
It's hilarious how the press has worked so hard to protect Obama's personal life, but has no problem digging up anything and everything they can about Gingrich, Romney and anyone else who would dare challenge Obama.
That being said, yeah, it's equally hilarious that Newt Gingrich would be the one to (all of the sudden) decide that a person's personal life is off limits. :~D

We should know if we are being lied to. That's why many would like to know if Obama received college loans as a foreign student. There must be some reason why he refuses to release that information. That Gingrich infidelity stuff is old news. He doesn't deny it and has repented. Why does the media go after a story everyone already knows about but ignores one that could have an affect on the democrat candidate? I think I just answered my own question.

Do not forget the media also forced the hand of the Democrats and they then pressured Anthony Wiener to resign.

The Anthony Wiener comment is hilarious. The story about Weiner was ignored for several days by the major networks. The story was broken by Andrew Breitbart and several left-wing journalists spent several days trying to prove that the whole thing was a set-up and a lie perpetrated by Breitbart despite the fact that there were photos and screenshots of the original tweets. At some point there was just too much evidence for them to keep up the spin and even the major networks couldn't ignore the story.
The major media did not report on John Edwards until long after everyone already knew. It was the National Enquirer that broke that story.
Newt denies asking his second wife for an open marriage and if you actually listened to her interview, she doesn't say that he did. She says that he told her that Callista didn't care what he did, meaning she would stick with him even if he didn't get a divorce. When asked what that meant, wife #2 said it meant he wanted an open marriage but she never said he used those words. This is how she is interpreting it. Pleast note that Newt filed for divorce, not Marianne. If he wanted to stay married but cheat, why was he the one who filed for divorce? She is bitter and that is understandable, but it's also a good reason to put our thinking caps on before we take every word she utters as gospel.

Rollo, so you are saying that the main stream media didn't run ANY stories about Anthony Wiener? We both know the answer to that story. If people want to blast the liberal media for investigating Newt's ex wife, than you shouldn't right wingers praise them for NOT investigating WMD's, or Newscorp's illegal wire tapping? Funny how right wingers want the media to investigate democrats, but they don't want them to investigate conservatives.
If you really want to questions credibility are we really going to give the guy that cheated on TWO wives the benefit of that doubt? Good luck with that on in a general election, when you have a democrat who NEVER cheated on his wife, and has only had one wife. Good luck winning the religious right with that kind of track record!!!!

Newt is a typical two-faced politician who happens to be the glibest of anyone in the national arena. He can think and talk fast enough to sound convincing no matter what the topic is and disarm opponents and audiences in a discussion or debate. Rush Limbaugh has that ability. So did Mario Cuomo on the liberal side. When one examines the substance of their retorts or comments it's generally hot air.
Newt is probably more hypocritical and corrupt than the average politician so you should not moralize about him. How long he can carry on his Presidential campaign is the issue.

I think that it will all depend on how long his "liberal media" attack last with republicans. The irony of all of this "liberal media" BS, is that all of anti-liberal media republicans send them hundreds of millions each campaign season to get their message out. If they despise the media like they say, then why don't they stop spending money on them? Why not just spend money on right wing hate radio, and right wing media organizations? That is because we all know that it isn't the fringe of either party that decides elections, it is the middle voters, and those don't listen to right wing hate radio, or right wing media.

I agree. The problem seems rooted in our current culture where the media and every other elite institution, i.e. government, big business/finance, professional and college sports, education, etc. are controlled or influenced by big money. Our information technology and outlets cause access to constant repetitions that often distort facts and create facts that lack foundation or have a questionable basis. So our potitical system is over-riddled with sound bites, propaganda, and distortions. The populace has become so divided and balkanized in their beliefs that they distrust any news that does not square with their pre-conceived notions of reality.

I think in fairness they should all be showing their birth certificates as well.
The bigger question is. Why are we so concerned about this? We already know most of the politicians are shady at best. But how is being faithful to your wife going to reduce the deficit?

I have no problem with candidates showing their birth certificate. Obama already has. Are you accusing one of the republicans of NOT being an American?
I think it does matter in this case because of his courting of the conservative wing of the GOP. Some people don't remember his hypocrisy while he was speaker of the house, and should be reminded.

The problem with the birther movement was they had no credibility. If they actually had some proof that Obama's birth certificate was a fraud than they may have had got some traction.
Gingrich has credibility, the problem is that he has no credibility when it comes to is morals, yet he continues to try to fool everyone. He should just look at what he does well, and go with that.

Nah, I just figured after the birther movement we might as well see everyones birth certificates.
But of all people we're talking about Gingrich here. Anyone who runs their mouth that much usually isn't credible.

Because it does not matter and he is not doing it now. If he was presently cheating on his wife, there would a reason. You remember that Clinton was cheating on his wife with Monica Lewinsky when he was president and I believe that John Kennedy was also stepping out on Jackie while he was president. What the reporter who is lieft wing was attacking him so people in the States who were listenng would vote for Obama to get in for a second term. The other Republican candidates who are more conservative do not have that much money to continue and Romney is too middle of the road, so if Gingrich is forced out, it is likely that Obama will get in for a second time.

I hate to say this, but do you really know if he isn't cheating on her? That doesn't really matter personally to me, but MANY conservatives do care about this stuff. It cast a shadow on Gingrich's credibility when he doesn't practice what he preaches.

The liberal media acts so sanctimonious when it comes to Republican's hypocrisy as if there's absolutely nothing wrong with their own double standard.

All media wants to mold your point of view, do you really think that right wing hate radio doesn't mold your view? I hate to tell people, but the networks are companies, and they don't do ANYTHING that doesn't make them money.

The liberal media wants to mold our thinking to their point of view, so will only tell us what they deem to be newsworthy unless they have no other choice.
