You are guilty and will be held responsible if you commit a sin unintentionally

when anyone is guilty in any of these ways, he must confess in what way he has sinned... and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin (leviticus 5:5,6) receive the holy spirit. if you (the diciples) forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven (john 20:22,23) if a person sins and does what is forbidden in any of the lord's commands, even though he does not know it, he is guilty and will be held responsible (leviticus 5:17) can you tell me what you have gotten in those verses? I have this bible study every weekend, together with my boardmates who encouraged me and im kinda innocent during the Q&A portion. Can i just direct to the Lord my confession without the mediation from the priest, if it's okay?

It's ok, but doesn't matter, you will pay, but if you regret it, your punishment will be more gentle, also if the one that you hurted forgives you or if you do something to repair it. The punishment it's very harsh when you know it's wrong and you do it.

Are you going to take the gentle punishment you're talking about even though you have regretted it and granted forgiveness from the ones who suffered from you? That's unfair, I think.

It's fair. If you made a mistake you pay. You pay less but if you try to trick someone to forgive you, will not work and maybe will be worse.

God will be kind to you still, but in the hereafter, you will be punished because of your evil deeds.

Hi sabado ! I believe the most important part is that you realize what you did wrong. One doesn`t even needs to be a christian for this to work.Even for an atheist if he realizes he did something wrong and he stops doing it that is a good thing. Either you confess your sins o a priest or you talk directly to God, in both ways you talk directly to God.Because the priest as a human doesn`t have any power to forget your sins,he will use the gift God gave him to forget your sins.If you stop doing that you are forgiven if not then you are not forgiven.God is the one who forgives your sins not a priest. But there are good priests that can help you to see what you are doing wrong and how to fix that. The most important help a priest can give you is to support you.To show you that no matter how bad you are God still loves you.To help you to go from strength to strength to become a better person. There is no limit of what better means or better said Jesus is the limit you can`t reach but you can try to reach it.You can become better and better every day.

Hi Sabado ! The best example for an unintentional sin is the sin of lacking or the good you can do but you don`t do. That is already a state of imperfection. If you are lucky to find a good priest he will tell you a lot of things you had no idea about. And you need someone to guide you otherwise you will build your own benign God and you will end up saying "Oh come on God loves me anyway ".That is fine but if you want to raise your spirit you should try to fight a little with yourself and to try to become a better person. So my advice for you and for everyone else is to find a good priest and to try to listen to what he has to say.

"So my advice for you and for everyone else is to find a good priest and to try to listen to what he has to say" This one is okay, we really need a mediator because we are being created weak and vulnerable to temptations. These are satan's advantage. Satan as being real, and being very active, powerful and effective in tempting people to the wrong way.

Can you cite, for instance some unintentional sins, that we don't even see any single apparition it was a sin?

You will never be held responsible if you commit a sin unintentionally, I'm talking about the situation in Islam, in fact All of our actions in this world will be Judged according to the intention behind it, the prophet Muhammad PBUH said: Actions are but by intentions and every man shall have only that which he intended... as for confession to the priest, there is no priesthood in Islam, and you can confess directly to God asking Him for forgiveness, you can ask the priest for forgiveness only if you Stepped on his foot, sneezed on his face or something like this.

I don't know why you are claiming all the good things in your religion. I'm sorry but for me, it only shows that your religion has the largest share of extremism and terrorism mostly because of the work of most of your brothers, in my owm opinion. You can find a lot of Christians to be peace and loving citizens on earth and we're just really unfortunate that the word is often stirred by your extremist and terrorist people. That having said, of course are not my primary opinions but history tells it. Again, I am sorry and may your allah give you a better thinking....

I am sorry this is worrying you but I have to say the whole thing is really just a load of nonsense invented by priests to keep people coming to church.

When comparing the catholic church (which is a christian church by the way even if they fool you sometimes) and the "christian" church I would say it is simply a matter of scale. As to comparing the words in the bible (which may or may not be from any sort of god)with time then it is a strange comparison. The biblical words are about 4 or at the most 5 thousand years old and all the evidence suggests that time has been in operation for about 15 billion years and could be a lot longer. Evidence also suggests that time will go on for at least another 15 billion years whereas the biblical words will probably disappear in a few thousand years (Everything has it's life cycle and Christianity is no exception)but they will certainly go in 4.5 billion years when the sun runs out of fuel. Do not be fooled into thinking time will go on for ever. It is a measurable thing and varies according to circumstances. For instance is it slowed down by gravity and evidence suggest that it did not exist at all before the big bang

I'd rather give one simple paragraph than bypassing this response, MadamAngela. Christianity is a God-Given religion, a natural faith, a religion of accountability, reason, steadiness and discipline and straightforwardness. jyuuken, go on...

If you look at Lev 5:5-6, it says "becomes aware". Is it possible for you to be unintentional yet aware? If it is unintentional, probably you are not aware, but it is still against God. When you have been enlightened (by a person or by the Spirit), you do become aware, you should then confess and make good with the Lord. From what I gather from John 20:20,23, Jesus is sending the disciples as ambassadors for God, and He instructs them the seriousness of their mission. They speak on His behalf. Then again, we know that we are told to forgive, as Christ forgives us when we repent. There is only one sin that is unpardonable - blaspheming against the Holy Spirit (which in simpler terms might mean to reject Christ). John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, He (Christ) is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Notice there is no mention of any intermediary. Go direct to Jesus, he has already parted the veil so you may approach the throne of grace (Heb 4:16) with confidence. I am just a lay Christian, so it might be good for you to check with the church preachers as well. God bless.

Wonderful response, Thankyou! It seemed like Honesty is the first step to everything - it is linked to sincerity of intentions. Do you have any idea what kind of sin God will not forgive?

Hello, sabado_dc. You give the scripture that makes Yashua (Jesus) the high priest. YAHVAH (GOD) is the only one who can forgive sin. The only sin that you have to confess to another person is the sin against him/her. Not only have you sinned against him/her but also against YAHVAH and the church. If you confess your sin to the person, and you are forgiven then YAHVAH will forgive them. If you do not, then a second witness is brought in to show the person their sin. If he/she still does not confess, then he/she is to be brought before the entire congregation. All matters large or small are to be handled in the church. Any sin that is commited not against another person you need to confess only to the High Priest. He is the one who atoned for your sins, and to him you confess your sins. A high priest is the mediator between YAHVAH and man. There must be one, and Moses was one, as well as Joshua. Yashua was the last. I hope this sheds some light on why we must confess our sins to either a high priest, or to YAHVAH himself.

Yes, you can do that... Speaking to God directly is important... We don't need a middle man to talk to our Father, do we??? I have not read the holy books, so I can not enlighten you on that, but all I can say is yes, you can talk to God without the help of a middle man... Just be true to yourself when you are talking to God.. Good Luck!!!!

I believe one is still responsible for an unintentional sin, and when the sin is realized they should confess it and repent. God always forgives the repentant soul and the most important thing is to learn from your mistakes and do better. I believe forgiveness is between a believer and God, but if it makes you feel better talk to your priest also. But don't condemn yourself over it because God has forgiven you.

God loves people. He has a way of teaching us his commandments. He gave us a guide, the Bible. We should read it daily. (Psalm 1:1-3, Matthew 4:4) He will send someone to us to encourage us to read the Bible. Forgiveness comes from god through Jesus Christ. Sometimes we may need the help of a spiritual mentor to help us overcome weaknesses. (James 5:13-15) Which Scripture mentions priests? Did Jesus start a priesthood on earth? Or is the priesthood in heaven?

It depends on the religion and how devoted you are. Each religion holds its own rules, and different people inturpt those rules differently. The bible isn't absoulute, and some fallow it to the letter, others not so much. Personally... how do you really feel about the situation? My father used to say, you cannot be punished if you are not conciously aware the crime you are commiting is breaking a "sin". Therefore, regret and the promise to refrain from such acts should be enough to obsolve you. You don't need a prist to tell you that. If you do, then that's up to you. But you must first come to terms about how you feel into regards to the situation. If not, no matter what anyone says isn't going to change anything.

I also heard from other religion that, God won't hold us responsible unless we do something by choice. 17:5 who receiveth guidance, receiveth it for his own benefit: who goeth astray doth so to his own loss: no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another: nor would we visit with our wrath until we had sent an apostle (to five warning).

I think as long as you direct your confession to god you will be forgiven. Your sins are between you and God anyways. If you truly want forgiveness in your heart he will forgive.
