I used to look up at the skies and only know Orion's belt and when it was not there, I knew that it would be Scorpio. Then I found out that a friend of mine was one of those who were like me. We were always amazed at the stars when we looked up in the sky. Plentiful and shimmering without care and whilst we look at them, the stars are actually going through their normal routine like ours planets do. Also we never know if the stars we are seeing are still alive since their light takes years to travel to us, some decades and even centuries. The light we are seeing from stars are years old when they hit us.
So then, this friend of mine has motivated me to study more about the stars and the constellations they form as she usually consults me regarding her questions about these celestial bodies. So far, I can distinguish Orion and the stars that make up its feet and shoulders. They are Rigel, Saiph, Bellatrix and Beletgeuse. Also, I know where Sirius, the brighest star visible to us(it is not Polaris) is. That friend of mine also gave me a link to a star map. I plan on familiarizing with the constellations so I could relate with her and answer questions she throws at me regarding them.
What about you? Do you know the stars and the constellations when you look up at night? Tell me of any experiences relating to them. So far, I have seen three shooting stars at random times and they last for less than a second. You can hardly savor the moment but I always do and at all three times did I get excited.
