Performers singing songs that do not suit their voice

I was watching a noontime show a while ago and a few of the hosts sang the Maroon 5 song "Move like Jagger" during their production number and it really annoyed me. I don't have anything against these hosts, in fact, I like them for their hosting skills and comedic skills. But when they sing songs that do not suit their voices, I just find it really annoying. I just think they are not giving justice to the song. They kind of "destroy" it actually. 
And it just so happen that I love "Move like Jagger" very much so I was more than annoyed than the usual. 
I mean, it's okay to render their own version of the song but it wasn't even their intention. They were just plainly singing. I guess it's also the fault of the writer or whoever is in-charge of selecting songs to be sang during their production number. I mean, if they really want to air that song, then they could have just invited a singer that can perform the song nicely.

I know what you mean, there's this lady at my church that will get up and sing a special, and she has an opera voice, a voice that can cut glass and she'll sing a contemporary song or southern gospel song that does NOT suit her voice and its awful. I'm sorry to say that, but her voice is too fancy for the music she picks and it drives me crazy, I also believe she has that affect on some of the other members too, because everybody sits there and cringes when she hits those high notes. I think people should sing music that is suited to their voices, it sounds a whole lot better.

I agree. Singers should know how to pick songs if they don't any original songs of their own.

I hate that. I hate it when "todays" artists try to remake a song from the past and just butcher it. Country music is a prime example of that. I am sorry but those "oldies" singers had it and those of today, don't have a clue what it is.

There's a lot of that, too here in our country. Some make a good remake but a lot fails in doing so.

haha, yeah! That's what i hate as well, especially when they make a mockery of those songs. It's really irritating as they spoil the kind of image i had for the song 
Even if the host has to sing something, at least be something that's suited for overall audience, fitted to their singing capabilities as well. If not, instead of impressing people with their talent, they are embarrassing themselves as well as the original singers

I am fine with it. We always have the same thought even when the real singer sing a song that not belongs to them. It will sounds strange but because they are artist we always assumed that they are good at that. I have seen some programs where the hosts sang a song and it was terrible but it just for fun and we know that they are not good in singing. So it is okay~ But I am not okay if they are real singer but sounds like they don't know how to sing song very well~(^^)

Maybe that's because you really like that song so much that's why you feel annoyed when you heard it being sung in such an ugly way I wasn't able to see that number because my grandma keeps surfing the channel. So normally I would just focus on the Internet rather than watching. 'Though sometimes if it catches my attention I would stop and try to watch a show. I also love Moves like Jagger, it's so upbeat and I feel like singing along with the song whenever I heard it being played. I hope you won't get annoyed with me if I sing it but don't worry I will be singing along with Adam Levine.

Nowadays most of the host in a reality show generally sings song and as it was your favorite song you thought that he was not doing enough justice to that particular song.
