I found money while I was going over my old things!

I was really surprised! Pleasantly surprised! I was going over my old stuffs which consist of clothing tags, playing cards, mini-notebooks stacked together with my old pay slips. (I collect clothing tags and put them in an album.) I was about to make an envelope and I decided to recycle my old payslips. I took two and cut opened the first one. I replaced the other one because there were too many writings on it. And as I cut open the replacement, I was surprised to see a money bill! It's not much but I was really surprised. I can't believe how I left it there. And to think the payslip was dated 2007! It's always good to check on old things once in a while. lol

That is a surprise. I would love to find valuable stuff in ways similar to yours too. How about I put a bill in an envelope and then store it somewhere deep in the storeroom? Maybe one day when I am older and we would be clearing the house of old junk, I would be happy to come across it. To make more pleasurable, I would put a high value bill in. Haha. Also, how about you hire me to clear your old stuff? I would be happy to find something valuable in them. Haha.

I can hire you but can you be hired for free? I will give you anything you find valuable but I won't pay you.

That is a really great surprise when that happens. It has often happened to me too. I have searched through some old coats and found bills in the pockets that I had forgotten about. It's sort of like having a small win on the lottery and makes life a little more pleasant... _Derek

I learned that lesson while back.. I was having a yard sale. I went through all my purses, cleaned them out and decided to get rid of about half of them that I didn't use anymore. I went through all the pockets and zipper pouches etc. Then the day before the sale I was going through them pricing them... and something just told me to check again.. so I double checked the pockets and pouches again... and found 2,$20 bills in one of the zipper pockets! I was sure I had done a good job of checking hte first time around....now...I always double check twice!!!

Good going! I also check my purses not in use because I know I leave money on them even though I am not using them.

That's your money, after all. I also have experience of finding some money on the street. I used to take it and spend it but now I have changed. If I find some, I will put it in the charity box. I can not give it back to the owner since I don't know who has the money.

That's good of you. If I find money on the streets and I see who it dropped from, I would give it back. If I didn't, I would ask around who dropped it if it's a big amount. If it's a small amount, I don't bother to ask around.

Yes it happens when these are people who like to stash extra money in photo frames, books , and pillows, clothing pockets and such , and after sometime forget about it and only much later found them during spring cleaning or accidents. Some people are funny hiding things in unsually places like freezers , stockings and pots , hence it really a treasure hunt when things goes missing.

Indeed! I don't like storing money just anywhere though. Some other people may find it other than me.

Hi SecretBear, That is great. And I remember when we had our general cleaning here in my room. I also found coins underneath my bed. It wasn't that big, I was just surprise that I have a lot of it underneath it. I always thought that I have used all of it already...or found it already. But as it turns out, I realized that I really need to go over and do a general cleaning every once in a while. I also remember that I found a bill in my books and I was also happy since I was so hungry that time and I really need to buy some food to help me from that starvation. Blessing from heaven, I guess...^^ Happy Mylotting.

Wow, that was a nice find! You gave me a good idea to go through my wardrobe, I keep all manner of things in there 'out the way' and it's become a great hiding hole to hide things away and to put things where no one else can find them. I used to do this at my old place because my ex was always picking things up that didn't concern them so I had to secretly hide things away. Well when it came to moving out, I didn't realize I had hoarded so much, and I found a few things which I had truly thought I had lost or my ex had stolen from me LOL! It was a nice surprise, it wasn't money but one of my favourite cds.

It seems to happen to me almost every year that when I get my winter coat out for the colder months of the year, I will find at least a little bit of money in the pocket of my jacket. Another time that I've found some money is when I will try on clothes at the Goodwill there will often be a little bit of money that has been left behind in the pockets of the pants by the previous owner. It is always really nice to find a little bit of money when you don't expect to find money.

That is great that you found money. I bet it will help you out. I feel lucky when I find money. I remember when my late mother-in-law had passed away my husband and I found money in her bedroom scattered all over the place and in her purse. It was mostly coins she had and it added up to $100.00. My husband and I had deposited the money into our savings account and it went towards our downpayment on our house. I was really glad that we had gotten some money. I had also done the same thing with our inheritance money.

Oh my! That is really surprising! Imagine, you had that money with your old stuff all along for such a very long time! Amazing! By the way, it's good you didn't catch colds while rummaging through your old things. I always catch colds when I do, you know, allergic or something. This does relate, right? Haha!

This happens to me a lot. I usually leave some money in the pockets of my bags - and sometimes even between the pages of my notebooks - and then I end up forgetting all about them! Whenever the time comes that I'm in a desperate need for money, I always look through all of my things because lo and behold, I will always find money!

I know how you felt when you found money among the stuffs that you have never looked into for a long time. I have had that experienced before. I was going through my piles of old books when I found in one of the pages were some well ironed out money. It must have been there for quite long as the notes looked like they were just taken out from the bank. When I counted the money it amounted to a thousand our currency. I felt like it was God send money as I has really broke when I found it and that really helped me till the next paycheck.

Hi Secret, when i was still a student, i like to keep my paper money in my notebooks. But, i never remembered to take it out for use. Recently, i was sorting out my old notebooks, since i no longer needed it. To my surprised, i found nearly a hundred dollars in my unwanted notebooks. Seems like, we really need to check careful our unwanted books and notebooks before we throw them away to the recycle centre. hope you will be able to find more money through your unwanted things.

Funny, my daughter just came to me yesterday and asked me: "how much is this?", as she handed me a twenty dollar bill. I asked her where she found it and she told me that she found it on the ground in the laundry room. It is awesome to find money just sitting around! Unfortunately, my next thought was: "why did my wife forget that she had $20 in her pocket and how many times has she done this?"

Thats awesome!! It really is great when you find something when you least expect it. This happened to me when I was shifting 2 yeas back. I did not find money but while moving stuff I found a very old pic of mine with my grandmom which was taken when I was a kid. She passed away when I was a kid and I relaly dont have any pic of us together as she was constantly ill and never with us.. Though ths pic was not very clear and a little torn due to age, I will still cherish it forever.. Cheers
