Yesterday I was looking out my window at the deer on my side yard and the most beautiful thing happened. A bald headed eagle came in , circled around once and landed about 150 feet from my house. This was a beautiful bird in full feather and due to the rain showers we were having the sun just peeked out to highlight this beautiful bird. He sat there for just a min. and flexed his wings, looked at the deer and took off over the neighbor's fields. I called to Hubby, but by the time he got in the room the bird was gone. Why is it there is never a camara when you need it. Anyway this beauty made my day.

Though eagles are hunting bird they look beautiful. They hunt to meet their hunger. They do not kill any animal excepting this purpose. But sometimes we the human being kill animals without any purpose. To watch and love the beauty of birds, beasts. trees and flowers is a quality. We should love the nature. I feel sorry for you that you could not capture the picture of that beautiful eagle.

I have not seen eagles for a while. Probably they're going extinct in my country. I used to see them hovering low in the cloudless sky looking for their preys but not anymore. Eagles are beautiful birds that can tear apart their victims within minutes, I saw them on tv in animal kingdom.
You could have taken a quick snapshot of this unexpected guest in your yard but I guess you have been momentarily stunned seeing a big bird suddenly appeared from nowhere and forgotten everything.

this is one of the few times that a camera would have been very useful. to see an eagle in your own backyard is a jewel in experience. there is everything in it that makes it very captivating and special. i am happy that you shared this experience in mylot. you're such a lucky person, to see an eagle live in one's own backyard.

You are very lucky to see such a bird in your yard. If you had the camera you could take a picture of the bird to remind you that rare scene. Really was your house in the town or in the country? Because if you live in town it is definately too bizarre to see and eagle there.

Oh my god! You live on a ranch. How lucky you are. I wish i were in your place. I love animals and nature so much but unfortunately i live in a crowded with heavy traffic and noise city and i miss so much nature.I hope one day i can have a cottage in the country and have alots of animals here. Maybe when i get my pension and i am old, because for now my job is in the city.

hi savypat wow you had two beautiful sights the Bald Eagle and the deer too. of course one's camera is never handy when you have a
great photo to be taken. Where grew up we had a number of Bald
Eagles flying around the hills in the Black Hills of South
Dakota. Also deer and antelope. To see a bald EAgle up close
is indeed rare. Yes I imagine he looked at the deer, knew
they were way too big and then took off. odd we can never
really duplicate NATURES beauty try as we may she does do
it so much better.I was watching some large crows the other
day and they were in the trees along the street knocking down nuts. okay then they waited. several cars and van drove over them. Voila they swooped down shook the shells off the nuts stuffed their beaks full and sat for a moment eating then as traffic started they flew off. smart birds let the cars do the hard work then ate the rewards. Who says birds do not think does not know crows at all. they made me laugh for sure.

Sounds like my luck...never a camera when you need it. I chased a Blue Heron around in Indiana last year trying to snap a picture and the moment I was leaving, putting my stuff in the car...There he was. Standing right out in the open!
Sounds like a great moment! Maybe he'll be back soon.

Wow, that had to have been an amazing site to have gotten to see. There have only been a few times in my life that I've been able to see a bald eagle, and those times have only been in places of captivity.
With that said, I would love to have the opportunity ot see a bald eagle in nature, but living in a city, that is not something that is likely to be seen.
I did, however, learn last year that I needed to always have a camera handy and for that reason last year for my birthday, I got a point and shoot camera that I do carry with me in my purse all the time.

It is always that way. I would love to see an eagle that close, I think they are awesome birds. Maybe we should at least walk around with our cell phones all the time so we could try and capture these things. But in my case I have my phone with me and I still forget to snap a picture.
