homophobes and religious fanatics seem to go hand in hand on this one. quoting the bible and spewing words like "it isnt what GOD wants!!" truth of the matter.. it isnt what YOU want, and yer not god. not that long ago.. 40 years to be exact.. interracial marriage was also banned and punishable by jail time. (or in some of the more backwoodsey locations where people took the law into their own hands, death ) all because their skin color was different, and the arguments were the same.. it says its wrong in the bible.. it isnt what god wants. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/18/the-loving-story-takes-intimate-look-at-first-legal-interracial-marriage_n_1213451.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl2%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D129405 you folk out there wringing yer hands and clenching yer bibles to yer screaming bosoms need to get a clue and stop preaching yer hatred fear and bigotries and hiding behind that book you cherish as being "gods word" jesus taught LOVE, ACCEPTANCE, TOLERANCE why not try doing the same as yer trendy WWJD bumper stickers, buttons and bracelets depict. yer gay neighbors loving each other isnt going to infringe on YER marriage or destroy families. they just want to love each other and commit to each other and have a family themselves, and there shouldnt be any laws prohibiting them from doing so just because a book written by a homophobic tyranical king said its wrong. do you support marriage for ALL? if not.. why? lessee if ANY one can come up with a good reason that doesnt have anything to do with religious brainwashing.

i see a difference between union and marriage. i support union of two people who are in love for each other. however, i do not support marriage of two people whose qualifications do not fit into the marriage scenario. i support giving union similar rights as those in marriage. the reason why i do not support marriage of all peoples is that marriage is not only an institution, it is also a privilege. not everyone can get married (e.g. underage and psychological incapacitated), thus marriage is meant not for all.

I don't see the difference between that marriage you talk about and union. Marriage was not invented by christians, there was marriages way before that, in the Greek empire and they were pagans.

ok, how hard is or me to answer this, but this is what i think about gays a and lesbians "im not into any religion or any believes, i usually ignore gay people why? because i really dont care if they are gay or not as long as i dont have to deal with them, i see this like something not normal but again i dont care if they get married, divorce, kill themselves of whatever, i will only do something against them, if they interrupt my beautiful life. i woul like you to tell me why this people like the same gender? me a man i find girls so nice and cute in other words a delicious fruit heheh, when i see another man, i see him as another individual person with no feelings at all and i start thinking how people do feel something each other. bue again i dont care im just curios

for the same reasons you look at a woman and are attracted. its just how you are, how you were born. if tables were turned, and you were told you were wrong for feeling that way, youd find it hard to swallow, same as homosexuals do. its just how they are, were born that way. =o)

Hi there Tessah, I have a very dear friend who has been actively fighting this cause for years. It seems that for every step forward, there are two back. All in all though, progress is slowly being made. Hopefully someday this won't be such an issues. I remember when the interracial marriages were illegal and there was segregation in the schools. Sadly although laws have changed, racism still exists in some parts. I don't know as its possible to change peoples views on certain issues but if we can at least get some laws changed to protect their rights or in the case of gay marriage...give them rights, it'll be a good start.

What I don't understand is: if you are not interested, why not just ignore it and invest so much energy in protesting? Nobody is harming you or? And to those who believe: isn't there written in the bible you have to love your neighbour like yourself?

Some people that quote god so much for everything forget about something. Some people have no god, for example I have no god, what they say I dont care, I dont mind. I respect that people believe in god, and I demand respect from them to me too. That is all I am sure we all can live in peace, believers or not. Oh and half of my friends are gay and are the happiest persons ever with their partners.

whch is precisely why there is sposedly a seperation of church and state in this country, because not everyone has the same religious beleifs, or any at all, as in yer case, and the laws that rule all should not have any basis within religion. laws that say certain people arent allowed to marry because the bible says so, forces everyone into the same religious rules regardless of what path they follow and its just as unconstitutional as the racial integrity act of the 1950`s

hello tessah i want to add my opinion to this discussion. i as a human being believe that whatever norms, rules prescribed by bilble or any other holy book was after keeping in mind the benefits and the good of the living people.but at the same tome i believe that "there is no bigger norm that the happiness and the prosperity of the human " so this kind of believe and norms are nothing more than our life ,our desire and our want. we all the people have the right to decide whats good and what is wrong for them, society is made by us only, if we are not happy what the use of such society and believe and such holy books in the name of the god. we are god's children and he will always want us to be happy and prosper with his blessings.until and unless we are committing a crime i do not think that its necessary to stop someone from choosing the way to life and marriage.

Hello tessah, I don't favor for those who protest gay marriages as i think everyone on the earth has the right to do anything unless it hurts anyone. And i think no body gets hurt by it except for some religious people but i wonder what's wrong in it.When God has made them like this then how can God say that gay marriages is against Him.Still these thoughts bother me and why people don't understand it is more disturbing.

I support any type of marriage, I don't have anything against two persons of the same gender getting married, if they love each other and want to stay together then they are free to do that. Unfortunately, a lot of countries still don't accept this type of marriage, but at least, a lot of states are already changing their minds and allowing this union.

It is no wondering things about gay marriage in modern days. because it is now applicable through laws. so,no question brings in that case.
