keeping positivity

There's been times in my life when I didn't keep positive and then things went... difficult. I've learned from those times that it's best to keep positive, but I also know that it's not the easiest thing to do. There are times when your mind wants to take over and go into tangents of worry, when really all worry does is distract you or make it more difficult for you. Also, I've noticed that if you are negative and / or worry then most often or likely, the things you didn't want to happen do happen.
So it's best to stay positive and do you best, do you agree?
What have you done recently to keep yourself positive? I've told myself that I can do this, that my worry is all in my head and that I've gotten too far to cause myself more pain my letting worry seep in.
I can count my many blessings and be thankful for them, that helps me stay positive.

Negativity can lead to illness and stress. It is great to be positive but sometimes when we are thrown in a bad situation this is hard to do. I have always maintained that women need women. I should have said women need women that they can trust. never ever in life neglect your girlfriends. Your GF's are with you always - husbands leave but good GF's are always there for you.
Also women need to express themselves and this is where Mylot can come in to play. Women who work from home or are homemakers or even too sick to work can log into Mylot and write down their feelings. There is always someone out there to comfort, console, rejoice or cry with you. So many of us turn to Mylot when we are in need of advice of any kind. Keep your GF's sweetie - always.Oh and keep positive too

I know it can lead to illness, I See it in my family. Oh and you bet I'll keep my GF's, these are my girl's I've known one for nearly 12 if not more years and the other I met in High School, still I know I can turn to them when I need to.
This site is also another keeper, even if I don't always feel safe enough in my own emotions to express them here, I know that I can still come here to type and distract myself until I feel I can express myself openly.

When you focus on the bad things you seem to pull yourself right into them. I try to be thankful, and I try to count my blessings. How you respond to something is your choice. I am trying to choose positive every day.

I've started, when I feel like I'm going to think or feel negatively about something to just pray to God and Thank Him for his many blessings, then I forget about whatever silly thing was causing me the stress... It's been working.

I wish I could stay more positive. I have severe depression with panic attacks. It is very hard to be positive with chronic depression. I do my best but am rarely staying positive for very long. It is surprising how hard it is. If i wasn't on medication I know i would not be positive at all. It does help my mood.

I certainly know what you mean!
In fact, I'm still in a cloud of negativity until now. It's really hard to get to the positive side, specially when my mind with all its what-if scenarios is not really helping.
I gotta bump myself out of this slump!

We really should stay positive. It makes things better even when we are having a hard time. We don't get ourselves anywhere when we overly worry about all that we could. It's best for us to take care of what we can and let the rest go.

I agree with you. We should try and stay positive even when others are negative. Our being positive will do a lot for us when it comes to making it through difficult times. Being positive only helps our situation and the way we look at things.

I agree that it is best to stay positive no matter what. Everyone has to face difficult situations, and a positive attitude can help us get through it. If you start to feel overwhelmed or anxious, do not hesitate to ask someone for help. If you have a lot of things to do, sit down and make a list of those things and prioritize them. (A good friend of mine makes a list and them rewrites them in alphabetical order. I do not alphabetize b/c sometimes I do not think I could get past the letter "A." ) But anyways, do not let your worries get the best of you. Many of us do visualize the "worst case scenario" but that is highly unlikely. Just stay positive and everything will be just fine.

Expressing things here on MyLot seems to really help. That was one of the things that I found when I first came here.

It has helped my heart stay light to be positive. The way I see it is that I can either walk around with a chip on my shoulder, mad at the world. Or I can find those golden threads in the clouds and at least stay hopeful and happy about the things I've been blessed with. Life's too short for me to want to be negative and unhappy.

I get into this situation very often and got stressed really easily. I tried to stay calm but it is of no use. I usually feel better when i find other options and alternatives to my problems, whenever this is possible, and try to think clear and positive and not panic.
