It is Chinese new year over here in Singapore and all of residents here or rather most officially have at least two days of rest. So we are able to go "bai nian". in English, it means to go and visit our relatives. As can be seen from the name of the festive period, yes, this season is more for the chinese race.
Just yesterday i went over to my great-grandmother house. Although i only see her once a year, this year i felt something very different. sad, to be exact.
When i was young, this great-grandmother, she was able to walk, able to cook, and to receive guests at their house. But this year, she was so weak that she needed help just to walk even a small distance.
I know all of us will not be able to escape death, but it is this period that makes people feel sad and depressed. Seeeing her reminds me once again that i need to treasure the people around me.

I have the same situation right now, i'm a traditional chinese girl and it's the second day of the Drogen Year. this new year was so sad to me, several days ago i lost one of my friends, now my aunt get cancer and only can live a few months. we all feel sad and depressed but never show her. she is so weak, but we all encourage her to fight the disease and tell her she will be fine. All these things reminds me to treasure my families much more. it's never too late to love the people around us.

Yes. you have also reminded me that we need to treasure our families so much more. we need to spend more time with them before it is too late and then we'll regret for the rest of our life.
We shouldn't be sad when they depart, but rather, we should spend more time with them so that they will lead a fulfilling life and die with no regrets.
Do you mind me asking what happened to your friend.
Still, i hope you aunt will be able to fight this cancer and live well beyong these few months.
Update me. All the best for your aunt :)

We are just human beings who are mortals. Perhaps, you have to accept the reality that life is short and so time is gold. We should manage our time carefully so that we have quality time to those who are dear to us because we don't know when will be our last breath. Don't show to your grand mother that you are sad and depressed. Hug her, give her a smile and be thankful for her.

You are right, i have to accept that this is the reality.
I like what you say about life is short and therefore time is gold.
we really need to prioritize our goals well and to know that family is really important and we need to spend more time with our loved ones.
Don't worry masang, i won't show her my sadness but smile and be there for her during her remaining days.
