How do you/what should I do to motivate yourself/myself?

I'm working on a story which so far has about a page typed up but quite a few in writing. At one point I was so excited about writing this, in fact I was obsessed with it (I also wasn't able to use a computer at the time, which could be why) I don't have the same drive I once had, I'm even to lazy to type up what is already written. I need ideas to get the creative spark back that makes me want to write because right now I am pretty much just ignoring it and telling myself I'll do it later (and I wont.) I should be able to write this because I'm trying to get motivated to do so (if that makes any sense, I don't think I phrased it right) anyway can someone help me with this problem. Any ideas? I would write the question again but I think you know what I'm asking for by now.

Self talk and maybe push yourself to do it. Set some targets and reward yourself once you've met these targets. Once in a while, we really get tired and bored of what we are doing so we just leave things and think about it later. But if you push yourself to perform then you'll see results.

I think that really the best thing you can do is just throw yourself into whatever you want to accomplish and start doing it. We all have to start at sometime and when you get going, things are going to flow a lot easier. The hardest part of writing, the hardest part of anything is really going to start writing. The ideas rattle around in our skull but they refuse to get out. Just start typing. Just keep typing. There is really nothing more simple than that to say the very least. There are just going to be a lot of the problems with lack of motivation. Not being able to light that spark to start. I've had that problem before but I just really sit myself down and really just start writing and keep on writing.

I have a similar problem as this discussion does depict. What did you mean by "There is really nothing more simple than that to say the very least." I think I know what it means in that we can write clearly and to the point in few words that we normally use in our everyday lanquage without reaching for hard to use phrases and high sounding words to express what we want to say. What I wonder about is how this connects with the second paragraph. True it is to just start and then just keep going but if we say little then will not that exercise be short lived? Just thoughts here. Good topic and useful.

writers are always too hard on themselves. what you should do is take a break and then come back to it and then once you are done, give yourself some sort of reward. (it doesnt have to be food or an item that costs money. you could give yourself the gift of time. say, go and read for an hour). also, read the book 'bird by bird' by anne lamot. it will help!

I think the spark is gone and you probably suffering from writer's block. I don't know what motivate you to start writing it, probably you need that kind of motivation again. When I am stress from work, I tend to 'cheat' and do something else like relax, playing games, take a short break somewhere and find ideas to continue my work. It work most of the time and I end up with some more ideas to add to the project I work on.

It depends on what it is how I motivate myself. If it comes to get out my bed I promise myself I can go back to bed asap. Which never happens btw. If it comes to writing: I don't think you can motivate yourself with that. The thing is a writer has inspiration or not... if you keep writing (day and night). If you have to motivate yourself to write I don't think it will be such a great piece of art as when it just pops up in your mind and you write it down. I guess you have a writers block. So go do something else and as soon as you feel the spirit start writing (take a notebook and pen with you).

Hello friend, at some point of time every feel the same for their passion. This is just an off phase for you and the first thing you need to believe in yourself is, this will pass by soon. If you are really feeling that you are ignoring your passion so much, then you must ignore it completely for sometime. I said, just take a break and don't stress yourself too much. By doing this, you are just forcing yourself to finish the work, which you might do, but without complete involvement. so, take a break and come back, when you really feel that you are missing your work. That way, you will start having the same passion you had earlier. Anything done without heart won't be worth doing it! Good luck.
