Cooking is one of my greatest passions, though I would not call myself a very great cook. But I am a good cook and still learning. When I tasted my Butter Chicken a while ago I realized that the food that I prepare is never the same. The butter chicken I made last weekend tasted completely different.
It either tastes way better than the before, or it just is average. But I dont understand why doesn't it turn out exactly the same?
Maybe because I just put the spices without having to measure them?
Its not a bother, but my husband always says this to me that your food always tastes different, in a good way!
Does that happen to you? or is it only me suffering with the taste different food symptom!

To start of with an incident, with great difficulty i did manage to get the right taste for the very first time when i cooked chicken all by myself, but there was this unexpected guest(Cat) who barged in through the window and had a nice meal!
I'd rather be well prepared to randomly pose few questions at the cat when i make the same dish for the second time.Great day and good looking pic you have in profile!

Well Hello, I am sure the dish might be really tasty that is why the "guest", ate it all!
haha, i can imagine how much hungry he might be..
Maybe an interview with the guest later on can help you make the dish better?
I know, its difficult to manage the right taste and specially with me. I just dont want to take help from the measurements!
Thank you for your compliment, I just wanted to show my friend here in mylot - how I look like!
:),
Cheers

I'd say it's the spices too. I'm no expert in cooking though. Practice makes perfect anyways. Keep cooking and you'd eventually get a way that your food tastes good and the same all the time.
But again, I'm no cooking expert so whatever I say might be wrong.

Hi dear sister,
I suffer the same. That is why I still consider myself not a good cook. My brother even told me one time that I made one dish really tasty on the first time I cooked it. But after that he says, why can't I cook the same yummy dish But anyway, at home it's my mom who always cook. But if I wanted to I still would and I tell them if you don't want my food then don't eat I'm kidding - not angry at them. I made pizza sauce and toppings and my dad told me the same thing, when he started eating it, he keeps on saying it's delicious! I told him I though you don't want my food?!?

HI Sister!
First, thanks for the BR!
Yes I can make a pizza but I used to buy pizza sauce - mix something else on it so its taste won't be too sour... and then, make my own toppings.. I don't know how to make a dough for pizza... I usually buy a pan which I can just refrigerate and then re-heat it.
I really wish that my dish are sweet but sis, I hate to say it but nope I need someone to taste whether my cooking is good or not as I have hard time to check whether the taste is good. But I still keep trying - when at home with my mom I am not given the chance to cook, she always likes to cook for all of us.

Hello Sweet Sister,
I will find every dish you make very yummy, no matter how differently it comes out :)
Because your so sweet yourself, the dish has to be sweeter!!
Wow, you can make pizza at home? I always wanted to do that.
Sis can you teach me to make Pizza at home?
My mom dishes always turn out the same, I even tell her you have magical powers. They are always yummy and always the same. No matter how many times u want to eat them, they just taste so perfect. I just love her cooking and I miss it very much.
Sis, I'll be waiting for your recipe :)
I hope you'll guide me through it.
Thanks sis for your response.
God Bless u.

hi there..i get my self starving thinking of your butter chicken,,ehehe
it's ok if it taste differently, go on with your passion, you may not be successful but if you're always doing it and do love what you're doing you will be indeed a good and successful chef in your own little ways.
Try to refer some recipe books or watch some cooking videos, it's a great help. and try to have some measuring things it will matter as well, so you can have a good measurement on the ingredients you're going to add on.
Good luck, make your husband proud of you.

Thank you so much for your response.
I would love to share my butter chicken recipe with you if you like.
Its very simple and easy :).
If your interested, just let me know! :D
I'll post it for u right away.
Well your right, I need to get some practice, watch some videos.
I am not good with cook books, i like it visual that helps me to learn better.
books just make me worse in what actually I am good at.
I'll go the store and buy some measuring cups and spoons, that might do the trick.
Though I am not a big fan of it, but somehow I'll get use to it.
Thanks alot for ur very lovely response.
Happy Cooking!

I guess there are a lot of factors why we sometimes can't get the food we cook to always taste the same. The amount of spices you put, as you've said, really can make any food taste differently from before. I mean, just a pinch of salt more would alter the taste altogether. Some say that even the meat you bought plays a role in the taste of your food. There are livestock fed differently and what they eat are reflected in the taste of their meat. Same goes with poultry, the types of feeds they get. I'm not also a great cook but I've always held that each dish would always taste different on different days :)

Thanks for your response beamer, it really put a smile on my face. Your absolutely right, even though my husband is not a cook but he told me this just today that maybe the chicken is better than the chicken we brought before. Because we got chicken from the market that tastes way different but chicken that get fresh from farmer's market that tastes much more better and gives very nice touch to the food.
Happy Cooking,
Cheers.

Hello friend, taste differ each day with the difference in the amount of spices you add to the dish. It sometimes happen to me too. There is nothing to worry about that because your husband says that it tasted better but in a different way. So, it just means that you have got a new method of preparing a dish than the usual way.

Hello mahi, i am glad that its not a bad thing because I really started to worry. I wonder if being the same would make me a better cook or something. After i started the discussion my husband came for lunch and I served it, he said exactly what I told you all but he said it tastes wonderful - so I was relieved.
Thanks for your kind response, I feel better now.
I just dont prefer using measuring cups and spoons.
Happy Cooking,
Cheers.
