Lately, when it comes to watch horror movies, I chicken out. I would like to do my own therapy, and trying to overcome this fear. Last night, I pop in the "Paranormal activity 3" into the DVD player and I hope that I can finish the whole movie on my own. Unfortunately, when it comes to "Kristi and Katie with the babysitter alone in the house", I kind of freaked out, and start fast forward the whole movie. So, I guess that my therapy not so success. I wanted to go back and watch again, but I hesitate a moment, and finally I give up. Do you think I am not brave enough even though we all knew this movie is fake.

I hate horror movies. So tried to give therapy to myself just like you did, and it didn't work. So what I started doing instead was playing survival horror video games and the fact that even though the game was scary I had a chance and the tools to defend my self seemed to help me over come my fear. No I can finish horror movies because I think to my self if this was a game what would I do? and it helps me not be as scared. Now I can basically watch horror movies without flinching.

One thing I can say that works is focussing on taking deep breaths. Not only will this lessen your focus on the movie slightly, but it will also increase the oxygen in your body, causing you to feel calmer. You are certainly brave enough, it is simply a case of mind over matter. This deep breathing technique may be what you need to remind you that the movie is not really happening.

I don't want to watch horror movies alone. I am not brave enough to even try. Unless it's a movie that I've watched before and the horror scenes did not scare me. I can watch reruns of Poltergeist, The Haunting and even Exorcist because I have watched these movies so many times. But if it's something new, I chicken out and only watch horror movies when hubby is at home. I remember when my mom was still alive and I would watch TV late because that would be the time I can get a hold of the remote control. I watched "I am Legend" by Will Smith and though that since it was tagged as sci-fi I could deal with it. But after I watched it, I had a nightmare . The thought of being alone and chased by monsters got to me. Since then, I never braved to watch horror movies alone.

Watching horror movie alone? oh no. I will never every try that. My imagination is way to high for that. I could be paranoid while watching it or something. But i've all the paranormal 1 3 and 3, i was with my family and friends, i don't like watching it alone especially when it's past midnight. LOL. It scares the hell out of me. I may watch it in broad daylight. LOL.

HAHA..i really can relate on that...i don't have the guts to watch some horror movies, especially if I'm alone and even if i have some companies. Yes, indeed it's fake but i really can;t help to be scared, especially the sounds effects and the images i can see. Horror movies is one thing i hate most, until now i really don't have the courage to watch on that. And i don't appreciate in indeed.

I don't watch horror movies! If I do I will be up all night with nightmares and the Paranormal movies get to more than any of the others. I have no idea why they get to me like they do but they literally give me chills up and down my spine.

I think you're letting your mind run away with you when it comes to these movies. I have seen the first two paranormal movies by myself and I was not bothered by them. Yes, there is always a few moments when the movies comes close to making you feel strange, but it passes. And remember one thing, it is only a movie, it is not real. And I do not believe in any of that paranormal stuff anyway.

Just because you were not able to finish the movie means that you are coward. That is wrong criticism for yourself. There are just some people who really are not comfortable in watching horror movies.

I was like that too when I was trying to watch this horror movie by myself. I don't like watching scary films on my own, I prefer to watch them with friends as I feel more confident that way. Watching scary movies by myself is so scary and I start to panic when someone is going to happen. So bring a friend to watch with you so you guys can scream together. I find it quite funny when my friends start screaming before anything happens and start hiding behind me. So save the movie for later, sometimes watching something by yourself makes you kinda paranoid.
