I have an upcoming job interview tomorrow, but i didn't actually expect that. I've been searching for jobs online in jobstreet, indeed and the like, and everytime I find a job vacancy that suits my profession or at least I may be qualified, I apply online, so I keep on sending out resumes online. But to my surprise, a while ago after attending my class, i received a message from a company informing me of my interview tomorrow, and since I am not sure what position, I just said yes i will come. I wasn't sure of the position because of the different positions I applied for, so when I checked on the internet, it was for the Finance Coordination Assistant and it is stated that preferably they need Finance and Banking graduate or Management accounting graduate, and another added qualification is willing to work on extended hours, so, I felt backing out from the application, because I have my class at 5:30pm onwards and I am a Political Science graduate. (But I am still not sure why they bothered to contact me, from their reply on my email a few days before, they said that they are currently reviewing my qualifications and if they find my credentials fit the position, then they will drop a call or send me a message)--and so, i received a message informing me of my job interview tomorrow. But I still feel reluctant whether to go for it or to just back out. Of course its only an interview it doesn't guarantee my employment on such company, but I also have my exams tomorrow, so i was thinking If will continue my application since i am still in doubt about the position. what do you think guys?

I think you should go to the interview. The reason being that they reviewed your qualifications and chose to contact you. You don't have anything to lose. If the interview does not go well, or if you feel like you do not have the background in finance that they are seeking, focus on the qualifications that you do have. Tell them why you would be an asset to their business. The more interviews you have, the more experience you have selling yourself.

Hi Shimi,
I think I would go just to see. You may have applied for one position but who knows...maybe something else turned up that would fit with the credentials that you do have. I'd be very curious and with jobs as hard to find as they are, I wouldn't overlook even the slightest chance at something. It won't hurt to check it out at least. Just tell them about your classes and what you are and are not available for.

Hello there.. If you are studying a regular course, then why is there need to get into a serious job? You can find a part time job and make your pocket money... My advice is, if you are studying a regular course at some unviersity then do not go for that interview.. Just call them and let them know that you won't be able to join now, so you don't want to appear for the interview...
If your study isn't a regular university course, then you can do the job and study at home... That will require a lot of hard work. You need to make the management understand that you are studying and so you would not be able to extend your shift always.. Good Luck to you!!!!

I'm confused...if you don't have the credentials this firm is looking for then why did you apply for the job?
I think it's time you grow up and start facing the realities and responsibilities of life. Most importantly, make sure all your deals, business and private, are honest, always tell the truth.

Your attitude towards this would reflect your attitude towards work, and it will be the basis of your performance. This is something that the interviewer would be able to spot in you. I suggest that you prepare for it, keep a constant focus, and just be composed and very professional. It will really help, as it should also be the right attitude you should have.

Go for it and see what happens. See why they called you. They would have studied your resume before considering as a candidate. It is hard to find a job and I know about that very well. If I were you, I would go and see what awaits me. Additionaly, it would give another experience. So go for it!

Maybe they did not receive applications from people with the requirements they listed so they took another look and looked for people that can be trained easily. Go on it, for no other reason then to get experience interviewing. The more you on the easier the answers will become and the more at ease you will be. Good Luck!

You sure have wasted their time and shouldn't have submitted your resume knowing that you have classes. If you find the job interview urgent, why not miss the class? What you can do now is stick to your classes judging from your educational background.

There's nothing wrong if you go to that interview, even if your are reluctant of the schedule. You might not know if they will customize the schedule according to what you currently have, because they really find you suited for the said position.
Go for it so you will know what they have to offer you, my friend.

i think you go only if you sure you want this job no matter what, if you like the job you will win it and if you didnt like it you will lose it anyway, so its up to you wht make you comfortable do it because not stuck with something you dont like work

Well for me, regardless of the position or what. Try to ask yourself if this job is just a need for you to earn money or this job will make u feel fulfilled in many ways. You dont wanna look back and see your life wasting your time on a job that you're really not happy with.

I think you should go and see what's happen. I mean, you don't have nothing to lose going there, right? So, just go there and see if the position fits with what you are looking for, maybe it does.

When opportunity knocks, Grab it. It's just an interview, i know you're confident about that. Although you're not sure about the position, might as well go with it. But you said you have some exams tomorrow? But your class is 5:30 pm so i think you'll have time to attend that interview. Try it, you might get hired. Best luck to you my friend.

Hi Shimi18,
I would definitely go to the interview. Even if the job opportunity does not work out, at least you will gain experience with the interviewing process, the kinds of questions they ask and how you answer them. There's always that time when you're re-evaluating the interview in your head where you go, "Dang! I should have said this!".
Any experience helps out a lot... even if it's a bad one! Soon you'll realize interviews aren't so bad and it's better to just be prepared and be yourself.
Good luck!
