why do/did you use facebook?

In the past I signed up a Facebook account since I knew it was a popular website and it could allow me to find more lost friends. And I could also keep in touch with my friends by Facebook. About a few years ago, Facebook was banned in my country and therefore it was meaningless for me since most people couldn't access to it here. Now I have a software which I can visit any websites. Sometimes I am active in Facebook but I just want to finish some online earning tasks only. I am not so interested in Facebook so much. I love China

As I was reading your paragraph it remind myself of me! lol. When facebook first came out I didn't sign up! Everybody in school was talking about it. Couple weeks later I decided to get an account. At that time I only talked to people and would only spend 2 or 3 times a week on it. Now I spend everyday! Playing Frontierville, going to sample sites, yard sale group sites. From 2007 til 2012 facebook has really grew! There's a lot more to do on there. Thanks for the topic eunife

In my country Facebook is most popular website among all social networking . about my reason love Facebook because i found there myold school buddys and i love to contact with my all friends so Facebook right place for me even in Facebook i can share my photos , videos and many more things .. now days Facebook has two many new application its make more interesting so thats true reason behind it ..Without Facebook i cant image how can i touch with my all friends and dont want to imagine it.. LOVE FACEBOOK ..

im not really a fan of facebook but since its a good way of communication and finding some of your old acquintances so i sign up and create when and yes i am only using it for communication

I use facebook for communication. It is such a good tool for people to look for his or her childhood friends, or classmates from the past. It is good for one to be able to locate past people who he encountered before somewhere. This is the reason why I always say that facebook is good for us. However, I do not see any good reason for kids to use facebook as they still have no past, so they do not have to look for anyone from before.

Same story like yours. At first, I made a facebook account when everybody hadn't even talked about it. But I didn't pay any attention to it that much that time. And then some friends asked me about it and I said I did have it. So we started added some friends. At first there's nothing special about this site, until I played my first game: FarmVille. :D I finally started to add some friends, and then chatted them, talked about the game. And finally we became closer friends, and keep friends until now. Some of them aren't playing anymore, but I still keep some close gaming friends in my list. Me? I still use facebook to play games. Lol.

I didn't use it for a long time; however, when my brothers joined its now a way to contact them. One brother was in the Navy traveling around the world, so it was the easiest way to find him. The other brother is retired and likes to travel, so we can talk about the different places he is visiting and can view his photos. One other thing I do on Facebook is print coupons for various restaurants in my area. Its how we have had free meals and free pie. Yesterday one of the restaurants gave away a coupon to get up to 2 slices of pie. A few of the foods we eat have offered us high value coupons.

I was just there because a few friends invited me joined last year, played a game and added gamers there after a while I left the game and deleted everyone except a few gamers I find them great personalities then I added more friends of friends so kind of nice feeling now not surrounded by fake and toxic people :)

i use it for communication purposes but also to see what is going on with my friends. i dont check it every day and when i am on fb, i only stay on for a few minutes.

Believe it or not, I first joined back in 2006 because the college I was accepted to encouraged its students to join and create an account for educational reasons (staying in touch with professors, etc., as references). At the time, that's all Facebook was really supposed to be. I joined and found it extremely boring, as with any other reference site. Months later, people were turning it into a social networking site, and I logged in just to see how it had changed. I had friend requests from people who ignored me in high school and some from those I didn't know. Over time I got into the social aspect of it. Within a year or two I realized that being on Facebook really degrades socializing overall for people. Friends I used to hang out with were relying on statuses, I realized that most of the people I knew were narcisstic, and when I looked back at my own "updates", I was becoming more of a selfish person as I used the site. It was kind of like a profile that you want employers to see; you are, effectively, selling yourself, and Facebook is no different. I left Facebook back in summer 2010 and am so glad I did. Now the only friends I see are the ones who are not on social networking sites, and all of the "friends" I had that don't contact me now, I know they were never truly friends. I see people face-to-face now, and those who can't find it to pick up a phone and call me don't have a place in my life. I'm also glad I left over the privacy issues...looking at Facebook and the questionable way it runs itself now, I'm surprised I was ever a member.

Social Networking is really good for those people who searching for there old friends and I love to use facebook because of this i found old buddys .. As according to your question facebook is popular because facebook have mobile application and that is main reason for its popularity .. like there lots of other social networking available but no one has mobile application ..Facebook support more then 2500 mobile. Now days in India almost all student have facebook account ..

For me facebook is one of the best and effective means of communication.. it really does...i was able to keep in touch with my family who are working in other countries..and i was able to searched and rejoined with my long lost friends and classmates.. Source of news and information, fun games.. it really entertaining..

the main reason i started to use facebook was to reconnect with friends and school mates that are now living far away and we haven't heard about each other for many years.

hi there, i did not use Facebook as well before, cause for me it's kind of confusing and a waste of time. I still can remember Friendster.com before, and i always said to myself that i will stay in friendster no matter what. But my sister always forcing me to have an account, she made my Facebook actually just because of the game farmtown. She needed to have some neighbors at that time so she really force me to use my account so i can able to help her out in her farm. But when i started to use it, and was able to familiarize the site, there.. until now I'm still a Facebook addict user. Now i see and realize how wonderful Facebook is.

yes. I was not using facebook for a long time. Subsequently I found I could give publicity through facebook -- different groups are there in facebook and I use them. However there is nothing like our mylot. mylot is the super lot in my view.

ya dear u r ryt. the same situation was wd me. i was using orkut. and when i heard about facebook thrugh my frnds i decided not to create account on this site. but afterwards my all frnds migrated to facebook. so i created d account. after creation i was not staisfied wd d facebook due to its confusing look etc. but some time lator i started liking facebook and stopped working on orkut.

At first I had an account in orkut. I used to communicate with my friends who are in different town now, through it. But suddenly they started to disappear from there one by one leaving post for me "join me in facebook". I was not interested at first but when they never showed up again in orkut I was forced to join facebook. Now I communicate with them via it and also share my photos through it with them as it is not possible to show them in person. I can chat online with them so calling expenses also has reduced.
