Have you ever blocked someone on Facebook?

Is there any time that you have had to resort to blocking someone on FB?
I have blocked a number of times, and do not regret it. The one I took great delight in blocking was someone who kept pictures of Hitler on his profile, and repeated anti-semitic ideals.
What stories do you have

Hi sun light:I usually don't have to block people on Facebook. I normally just don't accept the friendship request coming from someone I don't really know who he/ she is. Once I had to block someone because we have break up our relationship and there was tension in the air. I wanted to be alone and I felt used. Well to summarize I blocked her to put order in my life.

It's a pity that anyone would ever feel the need to block someone, but sometimes it just has to be done. Thank goodness we have the ability to do it.
Take care

Wow sunlight, how did that person become your friend from the
beginning...Did you really know that person...
But I have blocked one person on FB because she posted a thousand
a day bout her child even when he went to the bathroom, who the hell
needs or care to know that...and she would just yapp and yapp all
day about nothing and I was just pulling my hair our...so opps
she was gone....most people I befriend I really want to be able to
converse with them....other wise I don't accept them just because..
I don't need friends that bad.....LOL.....

Hi ... i have absolutely no idea how he escaped my anti BS radar :)
Anyways, I am delighted that I had the option of being able to get rid of him as soon as possible.

Yes i have blocked one, I used to talk to a lady a lot on Facebook and I guess I felt a bit sorry for her as she had been cut out od a couple of groups I thought at the time without being given a chance, so I stayed friends with her then one day she asked for my phone number but I don't give that out just to anyone and went absolutely crazy and said some very hurtful things so I blocked her...

Oh no! Must have been a horrible experience. Isnt it amazing that sometimes the ones you try and help out of a sense of kindness tend to hurt you the most?

I have blocked a few people on Facebook. A couple who I accepted through online sites and some ex friends who I fell out with because of how they are now.

I have blocked a few people. They are not very nice people and I do not like them to know anything about me, so I block them.

I always add everyone who sends me a friend request. Both those I know, and those I don't. I love to expand my network of friends.
However, the minute someone tries to start trouble with me or interferes with my relationship... I block them. Unless of course I feel that it's no big deal and can resolve the issues that we are having.

I agree. When things get out of hand, you dont need trouble - blocking may be the best solution/

I have blocked a couple people. One because she wasnt on my friend list and she'd message me constantly for help with her computer..and expect me to drop everything to help her with HER computer for free...when thats what my business is...Computer repair.
Another...i blocked because i got tired of the nasty little comments he would make to Everyones posts of stuff for sale on our local buy and sell page on facebook.

I empathise with you here and agree with the responses. FB is meant for fun and relaxation. When FB friendships break down, it's best to move on, and if needs be, block!

I've blocked two friends so far. One keeps talking about her boyfriend even if all her posts do not have a sense at all. I can't tolerate non-sense things so I blocked her. The other one keeps posting things that should rather be private and personal and she also supports something I found contradictory to my faith so I blocked her. As soon as anyone among my friends posts something annoying I'd block her or him next.

Two very good reasons to block someone!
Seriously tho, someone who constantly goes on about her boyfriend would be really annoying to put up with. I would block someone like that too :)

Yes, my husband, or seen to be ex husband ;) It made me feel like I could take control, as he had been harassing me through internet, phone calls, texts etc. I changed numbers, emails and put up blocks. Felt far happier and calmer. If someone's chat is stupid I hide them, so I don't need to bother, but in situations like yours, blocking is a thing of beauty.

Hi .. i just didnt like their outlook in life. If someone wants to be a hater, fine, but I dont want to share that with them. If they have it on their profile, then they go!

I mainly use the hide feature, but I did block one person.
I had done a note complaining about a college teacher of mine, an online teacher who wasn't following her own rules she set among other things. I was also complaining about how the book was written, it was all just really annoying me and was turning out to be a really bad day. That being said, the mother of an online friend of mine started blasting me on the note. Calling me irresponsible, disrespecting etc, after the 2nd or 3rd comment is when I ended up blocking her. My notes are usually set so anyone can comment on them since I do random poems etc, I don't mind people commenting me. But outright blasting me when they didn't even know me was the end of it, I didn't even know she was my friends mother until they messaged me apologizing for how she acted.

I don't like the idea of hiding your profile as it affects those who actually might know you and would be good friends.

I'm the same way, anyone can add me on facebook pretty much and they can see what I post. Its when they get annoying that I hide them from my view.
This one woman, she's actually my mom's best friend, I hid her almost a year ago because I can't stand to see her stupidity. She drives me up a wall and I don't know why mom puts up with her, after all mom always complains to me about the stupid things she has said lol. But at least hiding her keeps me from knowing of her posts for a while until mom complains to me about it.

I blocked people from facebook especially those people whom i don't want to get involved with. I've blocked those people whom i thought was my friend. LOL.
Some people in my facebook are so irritating and sharing nonsense things, that's why i try to block them. I don't want them to lurk in my wall.

yes i have blocked people hundreds of time.
even i thank fb for keeping such an option of blocking or erasing some one completely.
i used to have friend request from fake profiles which irritates me a lot, then i have few unwanted people whom i never wish to see faces sent me friend request, and ,many people whom i wanted to erase from my life somehow.
i even use subscribe and unsubscribe option when i do not want any notification from specific people

i think the subscribe option is good if you want to avoid seeing news items from certain people, but the block option is quite good too...

Oh yes, I've blocked several people, but the one I most recall blocking is an individual who whenever they got angry at anybody would "throw" insults for the person they felt offended them, knowing full well that the person would see.
After numerous conversations as to why that was not a proper practise to engage in, they deceided it was my turn, and cussed me out on FB. Well I blocked and deleted them one time. Mind you this person was at the time in their fifties.
To this day, they're making all kinds of attempts to get back into my good graces with phone calls and messages via my family and friends, but no dice. You never damn the bridge you may one day cross.
