Sometimes its hard to stay focused on what God wants for us, and living in his word each and every day. We can get distracted by so many different things and often forget to spend time with him but what are some ways which we can? How do you make time for him? How do you learn to hear his voice and prayer? How do you stay focused on God without loosing focus on the world? Do you think we need to balance this? I'd love to hear everybody's thoughts :)

For me, the best way to stay focused is to set aside a certain time every day to worship and pray and then to read the Bible. The more we are in communication with God, the clearer His voice becomes.
As far as balance goes, I think the farther the balance tips to the spiritual side, the better off we are. The physical world isn't much help in the long run!

Ask Him. :) Seriously. He said "My sheep know my voice," and He wants you to recognize Him when He speaks, so just ask Him to help you hear it.
As to the rest... you know, because you walk into a garage, are you a car? Same with a church. Because you go into a church, you're not a Christian. A lot of cars are parked outside on the street and a lot of Christians are outside, too.
I can't tell anyone to not go to church, first because there are those who need the basic teaching and secondly, because we all need to listen to teachers and to worship together, but the house church "movement" has proved that one doesn't need to be within the walls of a church to stay a Christian. After all, if God can't keep you in His care, a church sure can't keep you there.

Thanks.. lots of prayer and worship is surely something important. And i guess your right about the church thing. Have you ever noticed at how hypocritical some christians/churches can be? To me it kind of defeats the purpose of God alltogether when people say stuff like " You can't become a christian because... or God doesn't love you because you don't go to church."
But what about people that aren't surround by a community of christians?

I agree, but when you say hearing his voice? How can we be sure that it is him? And do you think that as a christian you have to go to church?
Thanks for the response :)

I try to read the Bible every day and also meditate on it even during times when I can't read.I also like to memorize parts of the Bible so it is always with me even when I can't sit down to read. I try to be conscious of God's presence with me throughout the day and talk to him as I would a friend.

Thanks for the response. I'm new to mylot and i'm already impressed with the quality of the discussions and responses :)
Do you have any tips on memorizing verses though? I always seem to have trouble with that part, and what do you mean about being conscious of his presence?

On memorizing verses, I just repeat a verse, or even one phrase at a time, over and over in my mind until I know it. Learning one or two verses a week is a good goal. It just takes effort. On being conscious of God's presence, there are so many scriptures that tell us he is always with us, and I make it a habit to acknowledge he is there with me, not always talking out loud but in my heart praising him or just talking to him about what's on my mind.

I believe where i am right now is what God wants for me, I lived each day that every people i deal with my work is a reflection of God need for me, or me to the other person. I believe i don't have to find God its in my daily journey. In my experience i spend quite time, to read bible, understand a single phrase each day. I keep my mind and myself in silence in meditation so i can hear him. The answer come in unexpected ways. I believe if we focus with God you can never lose the world, it will just fallow. "seek yah first the kingdom of Go an all things will be given to you".

In this world, there are many temptations we see, and encounter, but in spiritual things we can be focus with God through reading His Word, prayer and you can do a lot like sharing God's Word will focus your work to Him.

In regards to sharing his word, i know that it can be hard to step out and tell people about him. What are some ways in which we can share his love? I mean, how do you manage to tell people about him?

Hi pinkranga7
The way I make time for God, and can hear Him speak to me is early in the morning before I get out of bed. He usually wakes me up at the same time every day, then I pray to Him, thanking Him for another day with full use of my faculties. After talking with Him, He starts guiding me in all the directions I take throughoutt the day.
I am in no way a saint, but I try to keep those lines of communication open at all times between me and God. I sure wouldn't want to lose that communication to the point where I cannot hear Him anymore. Usually that means I have wandered too far from Him.

It is really hard to focus on God, you are right about that. There are so many distractions that take away our gaze to the One and Only God. When this event happens i try to find a quiet place just to talk to Him. And it is not that easy. I don't want to be lost. Life only works for me if God is with me. To stay focus on God, stop minding this world's problem. Fixed your eyes to things that really matters.

First of all, we have to agree that there is only ONE GOD in the universe although there are many religions in this world. Now I want to speak about it based on my beleif as a moslem. In our religion, at least we have to pray to God 5 times a day. This is obligatory prayer. Our prayer consists of standing, bowing, and kneeling and finally sitting. We change position just like all things in the universe. They all move. In each position we praise God and wish. Some can do it with full concentration, some others still find it hard to keep focused.

Yes indeed, it is really very hard.Satan has a lot of wonderful things to lead us in a different way. And the worst thing there is we are not fully equip to face Satan's trap. But even though sometimes we are very weak, and indeed we are, we can always be on guard through God's words. In my own struggle, i stay focused, and take time to go to church daily, we really can feel being at peace if we do give time in God's holy Sabbath to worship and praise him. I feel being relief from the burdens and problems I've been dealing the whole week. It would be a wonderful to face the another week if we can have time the time to rest of his Holy Sabbath. reading the scriptures , and singing his praise songs is the other way of staying focus on him.. I think we really have to make things in balance so that we can't be weary while struggling on our journey to heaven, we are all bound to heaven so we have to focus on heavenly things as well, not just by the earthly things.

I'd like to say that I pray and read the Bible every day, but the truth is that I don't do either nearly enough. I regularly offer prayers of thanks for all that I have, including experiences that are both negative and positive. The positive ones I am grateful for. The negative ones, I am also grateful for, and ask God to let me know what it is I am to learn from them.
I try to stay focused on God with my family by attending regular bible study small group with church friends, and attending church most Sunday mornings. We say grace at mealtimes whether we're in or out of the house.
I also do a lot of reading. I am currently reading a book on Prophecy by Tim LaHaye (the author of the Left Behind series). I am thirsty for the knowledge of the Lord, and crave more and more. It's been a wonderful journey so far, and I can hardly wait to see what I'm going to learn next! :)

sometimes we can remember God once were in big trouble. People tend to forget God if were doing a good life.
