Please, don't get me wrong, I love all products that are Apple. I myself have an iPod and I do wonders with it. It is a luxury item and it satisfies my multimedia needs. Recently I have bought a tablet for myself, It is a Genesis GT-7220 7" tablet. It is a great tablet and it really satisfies my tablet needs. I only got one for academic purposes and I think it is perfect for what I do. It has Android system installed so I can freely modify any internal aspects, as far as data transfer goes. That is what I need, easy transportation of academic material such as presentations, texts, pdf, movies, images, etc! I don't get that from and Apple product unless I jailbreak it and even then it's hard! I currently live in Brasil and for those who don't know it, imported products are sold here for 170% of their true value. A $600 dollar iPhone is worth $1000 dollars in Brazil. A $200 dollar iPod is worth $400 dollars in Brazil. What I am saying is that 200 US dollars turns into 400 US dollars due to importation taxes. I recommend a cheap tablet for those who don't really care about high retina displays (which are amazing) and if you are worried with having to pay for android apps, there are plenty of great free ones and many websites even offer their apps for free with great content! And if you are worried with which brand to get, there are many reviews on youtube and many other sites for all of the biggest chinese/korean/japanese brands.

Hi, I also agree with you. It is almost a year I am thinking to buy me one tablet and still do not know which one to choose. I am tempted by Apple but in reality it is more of a game gadget than an real useful work tool in my case...so I am looking at Samsung Galaxy with Android sustem and I think that I will soon decide to buy one.

At the premium price of an ipad, I'd expect it to do everything a device it might be an alternative to at that price would do...it's double the price of my pc base unit, 5 or 6 times the cost of my kindle, and about the same v my android tablet I'm composing this post with...it's heavy to hold one handed to read from, doesn't have all the functionality of a computer, and won't go in a pocket to be effortlessly portable...if I wanted portable at that size, I'd get a netbook...To be fair, for what it can do,I like it...my Sister has one,and it suits her needs.. She's not a big user of apps...I'd want some killer apps to justify owning an ipad...I love the apps my tablet can access! (I wouldn't mind winning an ipad in a competition,though...)

I love all stuffs you mentioned. The only problem is I don't have that much dough to buy even the one with simple feature. To be able to buy a $600 ipad, I must wait for 600 days (on conditions that I earn $1 a day from mylot). The last one I bought was Samsung Galaxy S, and I couldn't afford the higher level one like galaxy tab. Now I have a chinese brand phone and for mylot I use my laptop. What about Nokia E90? Don't you like it?

I own an iPod touch, and although it's pretty fun and very useful I wouldn't say it's a necessity. I spend most of my time on my laptop, which isn't an apple product, so I find iPods and iPads less useful than most people. Apple products are also very overpriced. I have done lots of research to know that Apple charged about 3 times the money for the same hardware as other computer/electronics brands. Anyways, people have different opinions, and mine's probably different than many others. Have a nice time myLotting!

They charge 3 times the price? So that would be almost 10x the original price here in Brazil. Crazy right?

Cannot believe that need 200 importation tax. I do not need ipad but i want to have a larger screen ipad for my parent. They just need to get online to read newpaper or check some website. No other software and function needed. They think ipad is too small screen. Any similar product with a large screen and still light and thin.

I completely agree with you. There are a number of good tablets out there in the market which offer a great performance at cheaper prices when compare to ipad. Asus Transformer is one of them. Many other vendors like samsung, motorola are also doing good in the tablet world. I wonder why people find it hard to break the continuum of being a loyal customer of apple. May be because of its exclusivity and brand value. Or because of its legacy perhaps. :)

Ipad is also very strict as not external usb for microSD and such to expand their memory storage beside that jail break will void the warranty and such.I think they are similar or better android phone out there like Samsung S2 or samsung galazy tab and other similar family of touch screen smart phone. In asian brand of hp is quite hot in asia however i guess due to brand name and quality people do prefer Ipad. But all of them cannot replace a good notebook.
