Hi eunife! I think that anyone would be disappointed when they feel as though they were passed by. One thing I think is important is to express interest where promotion is concerned. There are a lot of people that are happy where they are. It can sometimes be hard for management to determine these people from those that want to be promoted. This can lead to mistake.
There is also the idea that although this particular opportunity has past, there may be a much bigger plan for the one involved that feels overlooked. Express desire. That would be where I started.
There are of course those deals that happen that are unfair but by expressing in a professional manner can be a key to future chances. Not giving up is key. I thin that maintaining standards and work ethics can be ultimately fulfilling.
Take care.

i would feel hurt and lose hope for myself why i didn't get that position, specially when you know you work hard for it and you deserves it. It's so unfair.

Personally in this day and age it happens all the time. I would not let it bother me too much unless it was something I knew I was most qualified for, and the position was almost guaranteed to me from my boss. But if it was something a person knew was deliberate it could be time to start looking for something else if there is something out there to be found.

if I were that person, I wont be bitter. I have this mind set that everything happens for a purpose and maybe something bigger is yet to come =)
