Hi Mylotters and Friends
I have been around at MyLot for a while now and I was just thinking about how the First Day At MyLot was for me. Over the years (three, as mentioned on my Profile), I have felt that I have changed a lot. Not only in terms of interactions but also my way of thinking too has changed and today I am more open to learning, finding and making great friends online - Things that were never easy with me before.
Also, I believe my English has improved a bit for good. I have learned to be more patient(yes you read that right) when responding, I today do take care to respond back to all those who post on my discussions, and also do revert back on others' discussions where I participate. In fact, today, I love conversations (as my dear senior, LetranKnight, once mentioned) and feel that the changes have been around only because of this wonderful family of MyLot.
How has been your Journey? Do you find any positive or even negative changes (I dont include addiction to MyLot as a Negative Change) that MyLot has brought about in you?
Cheers,
theSids.

Hi buddy!
Well,it's been a year now for me in mylot and I never regret being here! I gained so many good friends and knowledge on how to be in the online world.
As for my changes,I became too lazy now, waaa!!! I think this is the side effect of my vacation online, haha! But I am happy to see all my good friends here whenever I visit. I only miss some of our good friends here though. I hope to see them again soon.

Hi bro
Really great to know that you are doing good via the articles... I still have no takers for mine
Now that you have some extra earning, you should do something - I know you cannot send some money to MyLot... So Why Not Spend some for my Chocos
I too wish that you continue here as long as you can or the site can and even not, I would want to stay connected to you dear bro - you have been a great person to be around.

Hi mamu
That is a great list and I almost forgot to add up the New Friends that I have made from different parts of the world. I am hapy that you find solutions to many of your problems here at MyLot and that does make the website so very great.

I think that since I started here at myLot...I have come a long way to say the very least. There were times during those early days when I really did not know what I was doing. I only had the slightest idea of what myLot was all about. Obviously there was much trial and error as I tried to find my posting voice and what worked for my participation on myLot.
Over two years later, I think that I have gotten posting on this website down to a near science. There are just going to be a lot of times where it seems hard to believe that I have been here for over two years. It just seems like yesterday that I started on this website. Time does go rather quickly and we're just going to be on for the ride.

Hi megamatt
When I joined, I had one good friend who got me here. She told me a little secret that as I love to write, I can make something good of it. And truly, this information helped. Today, when I see that many newbies just dont a hang of the site, it disappoints me. Also the Guidelines are not that great - I mean they still need to work around to make them more interesting for a read. The newbies find them confusing.
But yes, over the period I have been here, it has been a great experience, lots of great friends, lots of knowledge gained, and still a long way to go.

Hello thesids,
I never thought to summarize the pluses and minuses coming from myLot.
Now that you mentioned them, I realized we have the same achievements: new friends from all over the world, new things learnt about different people's cultures, improvement in written English - to name only a few.
The only thing I didn't get, is the myLot addiction. In fact, I had got it but I fought back and I got rid of it. I don't like to have more than one addiction in my life.
We have a saying: the sum of a person's addictions is a constant. I already have one addiction, you know? I can't afford to add another one.

Hello Sids,
Its been 9 months since i joined MYLOT. I also have found that my English has been improved a bit.Yes like others i too have got lot of good friends here.I had the addiction of MYLOT when i joined it but as of now i don't have that.I remember those days when i used to sleep late leaving all my offline works doing MYLOT but these days i don't do that and give priority to offline work over MYLOT.

Hi sjvg
So you are telling me that the addiction is gone in the past 9 months? I was more addicted after my first 9 months. I was like - enjoying those great moments with so many friends who were so very active those days. But today, those many friends seem to have been in hibernation.
I remember that too waited for you to return back and respond to your discussions and that was always mostly in the late nights - this is to certify that you were addicted. But I think somewhere, the kids starting out for school have forced you to stay a little distant from Mylot.
Btw, your kids are lovable(the new avatar is great) - please give them my hugs (and also if they like, get them a Perk Bar each from me)

Yes i too remember the days when i used to respond to the discussions and comment back after coming home from office till late night but these days due to some problems i am not getting much of the time even after being at home whole day.
Yes kids have started going to school but still as my wife has undergone knee surgery ( joint reconstruction) recently so the whole day goes on in taking care of her.Hope so she gets well soon then will get more time to be active on MYLOT.

Well, looking back over the 5+ yrs. since I first became a member here, it has totally been an interesting experience. I have learned a lot about things I would have never known before, and become more proactive, and a better listener. I have met many wonderful people from all over the world who I truly feel are Friends and look forward to reading that they have to say. For me I cannot imagine a day without being here, and glad we have a place to come hang out and learn about life.

Hi Bhai!
When I first started I was still convinced no one would want to listen to me. I was still very shy and new to computers. so I would just respond to posts . But in time I started posts made new friends. With the help of a dear friend I met here I learned my worth. Then I Really opened up and I'm like that now.

Hi behen
Too late to respond here. Sorry for the delays.
Quite true. When I started, I too had a similar feeling - why would anyone be interested to make friends with me... it is a big world out here and I was getting completely lost... but then.. I met some really great people here who not only encouraged me but also guided me. Now I have improved more when I look back at theSids when he had started out here.

Anything changed yet....YES, my dear thesids...I don't think in such a LONG...LONG time, I have felt sooo much despair, frustration and fear!
I have made soooooo many wonderful friends here....and it feels like I am about to LOSE them all in one fell swoop! If I can't respond to discussions without spending sooooooo much time, I don't know what I will do! I CANNOT (and haven't been able to, since Friday a.m.) RESPOND to any discussions from my friends for what I get notification for...they just won't open! So each time, I wish to respond to a discussion...I have to log off myLOT, then log on...filter thru all the discussions...respond---then pray it doesn't disappear into thin air! So my issues are TENFOLD...and creating great frustration...humungous fear..loneliness...abandonement...isolation! I actually cried quite a few tears last nite...for fear of losing my friends here!
Up til last week...each morning, I was filled with anticipation of hearing from my dear friends...for 6 days now...it's like I have a "carrot dangled in front of my nose" but there is an invisible barrier...can't reach it!
I don't know whether I have PM'd you yet, with my "data"...but am going to do so today (another long process)..as logging on is taking forever...I REALLY, really DO NOT want to lose your friendship...and I'll end up with a broken heart, too to add to all those changes!

They are like "unique" flowers that I have nurtured..and grown..and now I am reaping the benefit of their beauty..in so many ways!
Thank you...so much for sharing! I, like you, FEAR greatly, the loss of contact with all the special bonds, that I have formed here (something I would not have entertained possible, 5 years ago)...and I really don't want to have to bury, in my heart, the loss of my friends here! Shakespeare said; "it is better to have loved and lost, than never loved at all!" But this loss, would be way bigger than what I am prepared to handle.
myLot has changed me..positively...but NOW is ruining me, emotionally!

Hi Pergammano
Friends are my prized possession and my earnings here at MyLot. I dont want to miss any of them now. I being quite sensitive, do have an emotional bonding with many and get worried about them in case they disappear for a while. Your response, has again put the right spirits into me, and I am starting to send PMs to all those whom I consider essential to me - about my personal details so that we stay in touch.

I joined Mylot in 2008, and think that many things have changed since that time especially my writingstyle and my interaction with other members. One of my friends recently commented on one of my very first discussions and it was interesting to read the discussion again after 4 years. One of the things that I especially noticed was the way that I wrote at that time. I had included very few details in my descriptions and my comments on the responses were very short. Today I find it hard to write short discussions, responses or comments, because I have a lot things that I want to express
At that time I had about 5 friends, today I have more than 500, and the friendships that I have found through Mylot are very important to me. I plan on meeting some of them in real life one day I love the fact that I am able to talk to people from around and world and learn more about their countries and cultures. In the beginning I didn't think much about the many countries that are respented here, but today it is one of my favourite things about Mylot.

i think it is more positive than negative. (crossing my fingers here - hope nobody opposes ha ha)
well, like you i had become more patient in responding and trying very hard to respond to all comments no matter how they appear unrelated or difficult to understand.
my reaction to the first interaction is no more different than the recent one. i always get excited with responses. in truth, before when i receive zero comments, it affects me a lot. it had not happened anymore but if it happens again, i will not let it ruin my day ha ha

sids,
I am not sure about changes- was it good or bad.
I've learned to play the game.
I've learned how to inter-act with funny, serious, emotional, and also act differently from who I am. (not totally pretending)
....a little bit of dancing with the beat....
That might be counted as the recent changes with my inter-action here in mylot.
And I don't see anything bad (lolsss)
Much better to dance the steps according to the beat than dance without music aint?...:p
Whatever my brother

Dear theSids,
Since the day I joined, I was not sure of what to do and how to. But the senior members did give me some encouraging comments which made me log in everyday.
My Lot has become a daily routine for me and yes including such a social site in routine did bring positive changes. Though I joined for extra earning, but I realized here what I am getting is lifetime experiences of interaction with unknown people (known as ‘friends’ now) around the globe acknowledging my views and thanking me for my opinions/responses. My knowledge has increased about various walks of life and above all those friends here – I am proud to be associated in one way or another.
On the negative note, I do enjoy the inter commenting in various discussions but wish to be a part of the conversations as well, sometimes in future. And how do you feel if you get no time to do a routine thing?
The most recent feelings - these days I get little time, so what, my lot is a part of life, which I am enjoying..

hi thesids I think I have changed a bit,I am nore sure of myself'and have made more discussions this year than in]
other years. I have become a real addict and really care about
how mylot runs and have tired to help newcomners but I have not
as much patience as the other older users.when newcomers ignore
mylot admins own suggestions and do not read the important'information I get irritated, why because common sense tell me if you are joinging a new site you need to find out how it
'works, what if any are the ru les,to me this is just common
sense and logic.yet many here will disagree. It is as though
they feel a person has scolded or picked on them when yosuggest they read the guidelines. So lately I have felt that if a newcomer asks me for help fine but otherwise I am not going to put myself up for pot shots as a know -it-all or self-apppointed guide. sink or swim. I care but I will not take any more guff.
I do not know it all or I would not have lost two discussion. I just cared and am thinking why, why should I care anymore? I want to have fun and enjoy myself not be flamed at again. I am normally very shy in person but on my lot I learned to be more assertive. but somehow lately that has just caused trouble .So I will just be myself, post and have fun, help if asked only. if new people refuse to use the help the admins advised them to read let them sink. Most who stay on here realize finally that the info is there to help them and then they really start loving mylot.
I have learned its what I think of myself thats most important not what some think of me. I just want to dnjoy mylotting again and have fun with my friends here.

Mylot has truly given me the chance to learn about people and cultures I would have never got to learn about. I have made some wonderful friends and that too I would not have been able to achieve without this site.
I remember when I first started, I was curious about the online money aspect. I came here with no experience and had no idea what I was going to say or learn. I got little response and was very discouraged for a while. THEN it happened...I made some wonderful friends who took me under their wings.
I always remember what it was like when I got no responses or was denied a friendship. I treat others in the manner I wanted to be treated when I started and try to help them the best I know how. I always acknowledge the responses of others too because I remember how important it was to me when someone acknowledged my response. I have got a lot of great things from myLot..the only negative would be when much loved friends have moved on. I miss them.
