Some pet masters will not use the leashes when they go out with their pets. I think this is very irresponsible since it will easy to lead to an accident for the pets. Some pets will run away suddenly and they may meet the car accidents. Some pets just die because of it. So it is important to use a leash when you walk with your pet.

i totally agree with this! my dog got attacked by another dog last week, even though my dog was on the lead! i had to grip the other dog and pull him off mine at my own risk while its owner just stood and stared. my dog suffered cuts around his throat. I have spoken to the other local dog owners and they told me that this dog is never on a lead - which it obviously needs to be!!

It's like that in my neighborhood. I don't walk my dog anymore here, because she's been approached by dogs that hate other dogs.I've contacted animal control on this issue, they don't do anything about it.I made a fenced in area in my yard so she can safely play and run.

Hold it tight - Safety to pets .
yes it is easy to control the pets when at home ,it is only the owner and the pet so there will not be a problem in controlling the pet. When going out ,there are so many, new people ,vehicles ,new surroundings and much much more which we can not expect which would come out suddenly and create disaster. It is good to use the leashes when going out with the pet,as the hold will be in your hand, and it is not that easy to control if the pet with its all strength tries to run off,but still it would be in ur control to hold or tie it to something. Sometimes the leashes can also cause problem to the pets as if we leave or try to give to some one else then it may cause trouble. If the leashes goes under a tyre then the pet can die also. The pet owner shoudl train the pet with the leashes at home till the pet gets used to it and take often out so that it gets used to the walk. W W W.petworldshop.com

As with many things in life there is a time and a place for all things. I have three dogs; two labs and a Newfoundland; and they love their walks every morning. On the pavement they are on the lead but after 200 meters I let them off to run in the field. They love meeting other dogs and people and sometimes have a great time chasing each other and 'letting off steam'. Also, they might put up some pheasent or partridge and charge off in hopeless persuit. After an hour and a couple of K's later it is back on the lead and back on the road to complete the circuit home. So a leash or lead has it's time, but not all the time.

Agreed, stowyk. Unless your dog is perfectly trained, it should be on a leash in the street.

yes both are correct in your views, one is a person who trained the dogs as practice and practice can bring that perfection and as it is the same thing done everyday the dogs will not find some thing new.Slight difference in anything can cause trouble.Problem do not come said. The other is telling to have a leash as it is good to be safe all the time.Precaution is better than cure.

I live in a neighborhood full of irresponsible dog owners. They're too lazy to put their dog on a leash and walk it.They just boot it out the door and expect the dog to alk itself. I have a dog that I always put a leash on,but it's too risky for me to walk around the neighborhood, because there's always a loose dog that don't like other dogs.My dog is small and I would be very upset if someone's dog hurt her. I have a little Boston/ Rat terrier mix. I'm also concerned that the dog may get killed in the road, we have a busy road a few blocks away that people drive 45- 50 miles per hour on .I have a neighbor that's irresponsible and their dog was killed on that road. Then all they did was go get another dog to be irresponsible with. People like that really make me mad. A ways up the street from me these other people let their Labs out and act like they don't notice them gone.I called animal control on them and they don't do anything to enforce the leash law. There is one here. As for my dog I made her a little fenced in area to run around in for safe exercise.

I agree. pet owner should and must use leash to avoid trouble and accident that might happen to their pets, or their pets might caused any accident to other people. This is one of the common reason for accidents, both the animals and other people.

Aparting from what you said, people walk the dog without the leash, the dog can bite other people on the strength of its master's power.

Yes dogs can be too curious of their surrounding I would say, we have to understand that there is some that are scared of dogs on top of that even if I'm not some are, and it is helping greatly when the dog is under control. If your in a city you most leash them even in the country . There was a neighbor we had that brought a lot of stress to our family, when we went by their house the dog would bark and follow us in a way that he was going to take a bite out of our behinds, very scary situation even if I'm not usually scared of dogs my kids were in danger at that time.
