i sometimes argue with this but if we look at what is happening, it seems true. the poor gets education with the hope of getting a job. they work to earn enough for their basic needs while the rich guy who owns the company they work for gets more than enough. what do you think?

Well, I may not agree that the poor gets poorer and the rich gets richer because it is still depends to the person if he or she wants to get rich. If the poor person is determined to get rich, he or she may take all risks available which his or her belief made him or her become successful. I had watched news last year that a poor guy starts working from his boss in the restaurant as a dishwasher, sometimes a janitor and waiter because of financial problem which he is not able to enroll for college. For several months of hardwork and determination, his life turns upside down because he now owns i think 20 branches of restaurant.

It seems you have a lot of experience back then, but still you are very lucky that you can earn $10 per hour salary. Back then, I only receive $5 to $11 a day without day off. Maybe once or twice a month off and I thank God that I am still alive even though it is a very stressful work. I always look at the bright side even there are a lot of obstacles that will stop me from reaching my goal. I wonder why there are a lot of people don't want to take risk, is it their own pride that stops them? I think they need to grab opportunities that pass through their lives because the greatest luck only pass once and next that passes through is either good or bad luck. I am agree with you that we have to gamble our life, no matter what it takes. I used to gamble my life back then, working away from home 4 hours travel without covered insurances offered in my workplace.

It is sad to know about that but that is how it is. Life is getting harder each day, economic status of most of the countries of today are descending. Many people, especially the poor are suffering. They get so down because there are no available jobs for them. While rich people are getting in the higher position.

Isn't this the facts of life eunife? If one is poor he needs to toil from dawn to dusk to earn his "bread". But if one is rich he can just take it easy and let his money work for him; as the saying goes: "money begets money". One may be born poor but that does not deny him endless opportunities to improve his lot. If he will strive hard to achieve a better life for himself and his family it is only a matter of going for it. Some people are just born lucky with all the resources at their disposal. However, if they play their cards well their status may just be temporary if they squander away their riches. Everything in this world is just temporary where "life is how you make it".

Hi! This is true although not totally. Most rich people take advantage of the poor and most poor people become content of becoming poor. If a government is very corrupt it really reflects because its officials are very rich yet the people who pay taxes continue to experience financial problem.A sad truth.

i've never met a poor person who says he is contented with being poor. all of them said they just don't have the opportunity (yet) or a lucky card to play but they strive though to survive the day. talking of corrupt government officials, they really are one if not the biggest factor making this sad situation worse and worse.

It is partly true. Why partly? Because in the end those who are poor can't be more poor anymore but the rich ones can get richter. No doubt about that.
And poor to my opinion are not the ones who work for their basic needs but people without work who are not able anymore even to pay for their basic needs! Ever thought about that?

when i was writing the question, the "poor" in my mind are those who are earning 0-8 dollars a day. a jobless person or perhaps a construction worker with 3 kids and a wife. he works for a real estate company constructing houses and villas for 10 hours a day under the sun and he will get 8 dollar pay at the end of the day. he spends 3 dollars for food, 3 dollars for his children's education, 2 dollars for the rent and utilities. I wonder if that is enough but he needs to make it enough. suddenly, prices of food education and rent increases but his wage is still the same. He gets poorer in that case while the real estate owner will profit a huge amount from his work. sad situation but it is a reality.

Its really true but the poorer are also so mean, when they get proper accommodation they start to see it for some rupees that's why i think they should be happy with what they get. Thanks!

Personally as someone who is trying to get their own Business going, as well as working for someone else I can relate with this one. Because everyone at the Top is the ones who make out the Best, while usually forgetting about the little ones who are the ones doing all the work for them. But personally I think what more people need to realize, as long as you have a job, and a roof over your head, you need to be Thankful as things could be WORSE.

Hi Eunife and welcome to my lot. There is three earth and Heaven ages we are in the second one. In the first earth age we were with God and the angles and when satan tried to sit on the mercy seat some of us stood against him and some of the people went with satan. Those that stood against him will stand against him again when the True Christ returns to reclaim HIS kingdom the earth. God love Jacob but God hated Easu the reason God hated Easu was because Easu didn't give a hoot about his heritage. So in this world we all get what we deserve if we work hard and try to do what is right in Gods eyes then God will bless us. But lets face it this world is made up of a lot of people that don't give a hoot about their heritage either. One day The True Christ will return and we won't need anything but Christ love. But before the True Christ returns there will be satan that will come claiming to be christ but he is a fake so be ware of what you wish for! The first one that comes will be the fake and he will offer to anyone that will worship him anything and everything that they desire but it won't last but for 5 months in the middle of the 5 months the True Christ comes in and we will all be changed into our spiritual bodies and we will no longer need anything material!

I definetely agree with you. And the economical system in most countries favours the rich and not the poor or even the middle economy class. You pay taxes and taxes and we see daily, in my country at least, that many times the rich people manage to hide their profits so as to not pay additional taxes and the goverment knows about that and does not do anything at all!And apart from that, the system tend to be capitalistic in most of the countires of the world and act for the rich people interest. In addition, i have heard the last days that a new form of economy facism is coming to the most countries of the world which that means work like a slave so as to rich become richer...

"the poor get poorer and the rich gets richer"
Oh, the famous quote of the Poverty Trap incident. To keep the long story short, this is basically the Poverty Trap: low savings -- low capital -- low investments -- low output.
The diagram I have shown above is popular in most developing countries. Though some countries have managed to minimize the inequality between the rich and the poor, most have not yet accomplished even the half of it.
Since a poor man does not have much income, savings is their least priority. They would buy all the essential things needed to survive with the little amount of money they make. Because they do not have savings, they would not be able to send their children to school, thus their children would not learn things that would make him competent enough to find a decent job. If you do not have the competencies, you would basically end up doing whatever your parents have done (being a farmer or whatever). Thus, the vicious cycle continues.
Doing away with this poverty trap would take a huge amount of effort not only from the government but also from all of us people. If all of the sectors are working towards the same goal (and that is increasing the living standards of the people), we MIGHT get the equality and development we have been wanting for a long time.
But I doubt we'll get there soon.

I disagree with that. The poor could only remain poor if there's no intervention. To me, someone may remain poor today but certainly not forever in most cases. Same thing is applicable to the rich. You may remain rich today but turns out to be poor tomorrow. If one remains rich forever, i guess that's how it was destined to be.

hi eunife,
In our society nowadays, it really happens. Some persons, whenever they get rich, tend to forget others and just start to become self centered. Some of them use their powers to take advantage of poor people. Some do not pay enough money that workers must have. The money or salary of the people is not proportion with their hard work. That is why there is no development among poor people

Sadly, the rich really has an advantage over the poor. Just imagine a simple investment. A poor person invests say 10 percent of his income amounting to $100. A rich one would invest the same 10 percent but it amounts to $10,000. Obviously, the rich would rake in a higher return on his investment regardless of the interest their money earned since he could afford a larger amount to invest. This is a crude example but it shows that the gap between the rich and the poor would either not change or the gap would grow more.

Yes sometime it happens poor get more poorer and rich gets richer but not in all case. Some poor people may be rich after hard work and rich person may be poor if their luck goes in reverse. But middle man is always middle no rich and no poor.

Hi there eunife,
Hope your happy mylotting today. I think people are either lucky or not that lucky.
Men and women born into rich families are lucky. Poor people who are born not that lucky. But the differences will always be how each of them work if the rich is easy go lucky on his job that his family gave to him then he'll loose it eventually but the poor guy who are very inspired to get to a better spot is always alert and on the prowl for new opportunities. Both have the chance to better there lives or destroy it. I't just some people are really lucky and some not so.

Earnings from jobs to employees are fixed as a monthly paid amount. Main share of profit go to the pocket of owners. Political parties fighting for benefits of employees are disappearing. When there are huge losses huge money already gone to the pockets of owners or high salaried employees aren't considered. So money is accumulating in the pockets of a few people in society. This system seems to be more severe in future.
