Is anyone going for bigger goals this year than last? I sort of am - and sort of am not! I will be doing the half in April. I plan to do more races this year is my main thing.. it's been tough coming back off the knee injury though... I'm going to go right into marathon training after I finish this half though.. that will be next year probably! What are your running/racing goals for this year?

I didn't really make any goals this year. I accomplished everything I set out to do last year, so my only goals were to just keep doing what I'm doing.

I set goals last year, and accomplished those, which is why I didn't set any new ones this year. I still have some long term goals, but those are things that will be accomplished slowly over time and may never actually be achieved, like fixing up the house.. that may be a lifelong project, but every little step will feel like a small accomplishment.

WEll when what's working is working - why change it?I hope you can get a lot done this year - and have a great year. How do you know when you make accomplishments if you do not set goals?

I have made 4 goals this year as I haven't really made any plans in pevious years... 1. to promote my business & build that up 2. read more books 3. declutter more 4. save for a deposit on a house... So far, I can say that i have read more books than last year & have decluttered quite a bit but need to do more but i am getting there.

You're courageous! I don't race or even jog any more, so I have no goals of that nature. I just wanted to cheer you on.

I have kidney disease and I had cancer less than a year ago and I'm getting too old to do things like that any way. Time catches up with us all.

Most of the goals I have for this year is to get myself back together. No big gigantic goals. Health wise, I am working on getting my body back to what it does best, lift heavy, be powerful, and have tons of strength. Before I got sick, I weighed 347 pounds, lift weights like an animal, trained like a football player ( when I played football), and worked a job where I move heavy stuff all day. What made me dangerous was that given my size and weight, I could run, and was agile, on top of the monster strength. When I loss my job, I got sick from the stress. Even though I loss 50 pounds, I loss a great deal of muscle mass, and the weight loss wasn't in a healthy way. I found out how much weaker I was when one of the things I did was put a chain on a car and pull it while sitting down, and I couldn't do it. The goal is to return to the monster I know and loved, Pack on the muscle, and pile on the strength, and work all of it to be as agile and athletic as a two legged horse can be. I never thought piling on muscle could be an addiction, but I like seeing and feeling the progress, even if I am bigger, stronger, and heavier. The problem with having so much strength is that you cook up bizzare challenges, and every wants to use your muscles. Last year at work, suddenly there was a need to move the displays of large items (watermelons, pumpkins), only because they had me, and we all learned that I could move pumpkins that take three people to move. This year, I want to tie a car or truck to a bicycle to see if I can pull it. The year after that is pick my car up, lol. My car is a great exercise machine.

I am going to adventure out this year and do my first triathlon in April. We shall see how it goes. So far the training has been pretty good.

I started training in November to run a marathon in March...so hopefully everything goes as planned! I haven't run consistently since I ran a 10k obstacle course last April, so it was rough at the beginning but the training is definitely paying off! Good luck on your half marathon!
