Just wondering what persons or events have had the greatest effect on you and or your life. Does it last.
My parents but mainly my mother has had the greatest effect on me and probably that would be the case for most people but there are other things that have had major effects.
The first moon landing had a great effect on me, over time this has become less and less important and the high level of unemployment across the world is now uppermost and more important.

My parents had effect on me too, not because they were great understanding parents. They were always fighting and beating us kids up for years. The best example for me how a parent should NOT be.

I will say half a dozen of people have enormous influences on my life, their action and decision are affecting great deal on me. People like my parent, sibling and leaders in government have major effect on our life stage from young to old. Once we grow older, the leaders in the government play a much greater role in our daily life than our parent, because the policy adopted and direction they steer the country into will affect us in one way or the other. It is important for us to take note of that.

I see your point lamps and with that the way people, who have gained great riches by providing goods and services for us, decide to use their wealth makes a lot of difference. If they use their money in such a way that lifts people out of poverty by starting or stimulating industry so that more people are employed, then that has to be good. Not suggesting here that hand outs be given because that does very little to improve the overall situation. Government leaders can make it easier for people in business to employ others by adjusting taxation etc.

Speaking of recent events, talking about the effect they can have on people, surely we can not forget the tragic event dated September 11, 2001. For many people this disaster has somehow changed the world.
If I had rather talk about personal events in my lifetime, I could mention for example the birth of my brother when I was already 11 years. The various failures at school and unfortunately they did it for me to graduate only at 22 years.
Even in work experience, opportunities that would no doubt had arranged my life, I have been so "good" to throw them away I find myself today in 37 years even with an uncertain future.

This is the reason I have decided to post this conversation there are in my life time that would have effected all of us because as you say they changed the world.
At the same time there are things in our own lives that only effect us and maybe close family. Great response.

For me the person who had the greatest impact is an associate who swindled me of my entire savings four years ago. My life became a nightmare and still struggling to this day.
