What types of designs are you looking for? I can give you some generalized pointers if I know what version of Photoshop you are using. For example if you take the line tool and draw a good sized line horizontally across the project and then go to the filter tabs and render then wave you can then convert that line into a musical waveform. All you really have to do is play around with some of the options till you figure out what you like. I actually like using the gradient tool. I can colorize a sky, change the background completely, or just add a little bit of umph to something I've created or a photo I've shot.
