Why cant we all join up and try to stop SOPA and PIPA??

Although many sites have protested against sopa and pipa, it still is in action and some sites have been shut down,rumour states that google and wikipedia are going to be shutdown soon...Why cant we all join up and stop this?? . Share your views on this please.....

based on what i know, if one would like to have a petition, it should be formally done in the senate wherein the senators would try to cast their votes if they want to reconsider or open up the case. as for those sites which protests against this issue, the senate would not even reconsider (i think so) for there are accounts which are not even valid.
this however, is my own point of view though i, for one, would like this SOPA issue to be eradicated.
