But how do you get rid of your negative thoughts? In my opinion meditation is the best way of eliminating negative thoughts from you. In fact chakra meditation can be more helpful in removing the negativity in you. Taking medicines can't help much, what do you think?

Yes, I do believe that it is inevitable that we do have some negative thoughts in our lives. But, Too much pessimistic thoughts is not good. No medication can stop our thoughts. It is only us who can control it. You are what you think just like what they've said.

Well said craziestqueenever. Very true that You are what you think just like what they've said. It's easy to teach how to eliminate the negative thoughts. But practicing the techniques is not at all easy.In my experience Pranayama and Meditation help a lot to remove the negative thoughts. Mirror practice can also help in this.

Medicines does help but one has to change their attitude to get rid of negativity. We need to change out mindset and remove the mental blocks from our mind that was inflicted upon us by our teachers and parents. Meditation helps you a lot. I too struggle with negativity. Please tell me the steps for chakra meditation

Hi vijayanths
Medicines will NEVER help here. I have experienced this personally, and all they will do is to dull your thoughts and make you sleepy. Personally, when I am having some negativity around me, I move out of the house to a busy road, or even a quiet place... depends on what that specific moment needs me to do... Maybe have a chat or even a movie to watch... and that helps.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom, I think you said it everything: medication doesn't work.
There is an accointance that takes medicine and this person is so addicted that the dosage is getting higher all the time and this person is TREMBLING for years now.
Meditation's benefit can be felt right after we finish it. The one that I do is to empty my mind, to let the energy flow through me and that would not come otherwise. I'm interested in this chakra one.

When I get negative thoughts I try to find things that will take my mind off the things that I am thinking about, by finding things to do.I feel that there are more people now that are having loads of negative thoughts and this is due to all the stress as well as all the money worries.

Hi, joystick, as you rightly pointed out today millions of people are living with too much negative thoughts. We need to keep away from them, otherwise you will get more negative thoughts when you hang around those negative people.

That's really true rubbershot. Nothing can substitute faithful prayers. Prayer is also a kind of meditation, I think.

Having negative thoughts is an every day occurrence, how you handle them is the key. For me, I just try to make myself aware when I am thinking negatively, and when I notice that I am doing that, I say the word "cancel" out loud; giving my subconscious a signal to get off of that thought and onto something more productive. I also meditate on the things that I want in life every night, to constantly feed my subconscious positive thoughts to crowd the negative ones out.

Replace them with positive thoughts. As in force a more peaceful frame of mind over it. I like to use affirmations.

I have learn't to dispel negative thoughts and emotions when they arise.Meditation is a good source to control these negative thoughts. It also helps in concentration.Taking medicines helps those who are in a bad mental state but that also has to be followed by counseling.

Hello vijayanths.
For me, the best way to remove negative thoughts is by reading the bible since I am a Christian. By reading words by Jesus, I learn how to be patient and be more understanding of human nature. Positivity is the key for a happier life. God gives us hope and his promises, which I usually find within the scriptures help me sustain my hope and gives me quieter thoughts.
Have a nice day!!!

Meditation is great but it has many forms. My way to get rid of negative thoughts is to play my classic guitar. The sound waves of the chords strumming off my finger tips is something very soothing and I just can't find anything like it. I used to go ride my bike but soemtimes my body is too stressed to make the effort so I prefer to play guitar or play videogame sthat make me move on the Wii, like Just Dance, one of my favorite games!

Hi,universe2o6, I agree with you that playing music can remove your stress significantly. Dancing may help too. But I doubt whether playing video games can reduce your stress. I thought video games would add to your negativity.

Sleep~zzzzz(^^) Is it because I feel so sleepy now??(^^)
Sleep when we feel tired and stress but mostly for negative thought, to get rid of it is easy, think the opposite~When we think positive it will automatically eliminate the negative. Meditation??? It will make me sleep~ZZZzzzz(^^)

As a Zen practitioner, I focus on the negative as much as the positive, for both states of mind are dependent on each other. Such "pain" is not to punish, but can be used to help focus the mind more strongly in the present moment, because that is reality. Judging our experiences, just makes them return more and more - witnessing and accepting is the way of Zen and then enlightenment comes in its own time. _Derek

hi vijayanths,
It is one thing that annoys me also. Every now and then, negative thoughts seems to be always present in my mind. I guess that is the product of the experiences that we had in our past. For example, when someone fooled us in the past, we tend to think that others might fool us also. In a relationship, once our partner cheated on us, it seems that once there will be someone who wants to get our heart again, it seems hard to give our trust.
I think that in order for us to gain positive thought, we should have self discipline. We must equipped ourselves with prayers and always be mindful and watchful of every words that leaves our mouth. It is not easy and I think that it requires long time for me to gain it.

I get rid of my negative thoughts by drinking with my friends.. Using your friends as crutches to go above those low points in life really helps. I'm going through a difficult time as of the moment because i just got out of a relationship that lasted for 1 year and 5 months approximately...... so yeah i'm definitely having my dose of negative thoughts every now and then.

Hi! Human as we are there are really times that we may have negative thoughts. But we can eliminate and avoid them by controlling ourselves. Whenever negative thoughts enter our mind, lets pause and think is this right and diverse our attention to another positive thing, Don't ponder on negative things too long, it will affect your outlook in life, instead focus more on positive ones.:))

I never knew medicine can get rid of negative thoughts. Getting rid of them should be done on our own accord, not with the help of some medicine.
Meditation, hmm, I have got to learn that. To banish negative thoughts, I think one has to appreciate the good things in life to balance it out first and get over the negative thoughts.
