If you know any speed reading class or workshop try to enroll. During my colleges days I had 3 days workshop for speed reading. It helps, we were told to read by eyes with speed and their was a timer, after which you have to summarize what we read. By time of practice of reading I also develop speed, sometimes I read by key words to understand and finish it faster.

It's all right to go back or reread if you did not understand the lines the first time. Understanding what you are reading is more important than speed. It is good to read fast but make sure that you understand what you are reading. Practice, practice, practice. That is the only way to increase your reading speed. Just keep on reading and reading.

I think many people have the similar problem like you, including myself. I search the resolution on line, and the suggestion is that when you read don't go back to the beginning again ,just go ahead even when you can't totally understand. Then you can read the whole title again ,or more times if you like.

I appreciate that vyou are a person trying to improve your reading, that is something that each young should be interested, here ARE SOME WAYS TO make your reading better. Because for most people, it is easy to learn to read faster. Your reading rate is often just a matter of habit. But to begin, you may need to try to change some habits and try these tips: 1. Pay attention when you read and read as if it really matters. Most people read in the same way that they watch television, i.e. in an inattentive, passive way. Reading takes effort and you must make the effort. A wise teacher once told me that you can learn anything if you do three things: PAY ATTENTION PAY ATTENTION and PAY ATTENTION. There are some simple methods that you can use to pay better attention and get more out of your textbook reading time. Different authors call it different things, but many researchers say that you will improve your comprehension if you somehow "preview" the passage before you actually sit down and read every word. To do a preview you: take 30 to 60 seconds. look over the title of the chapter. look at all the headings, subheadings and marked, italic or dark print. look at any pictures or illustrations, charts or graphs. quickly skim over the passage, reading the first and last paragraph and glancing at the first sentence of every other paragraph. close the book and ask yourself: What is the main idea? What kind of writing is it? What is the author's purpose? You might not think that you could possibly answer these questions with so little exposure to the material, but if you do the preview correctly, you should have some very good general ideas. If you have a general idea of what the passage is about before you really read it, you will be able to understand and remember the passage better. When you finally get to the point where you are actually slowly reading the passage, read in a "questioning" manner -as if you were seaching for something. It sometimes helps if you take the heading or title of a chapter and turn it into a question. For example, if the heading of a section in the text is "The Causes of the Civil War", take that title and switch it into a question like: "What are the causes of the Civil War?". Now you have a goal; something to look for; something to find out. When you are goal-oriented, you are more likely to reach the goal. At least you'll remember one thing about the text which you have just read.

HI there, reading is the very nice habit we can have. Don't worry if you read so slow, by reading constantly in time you can see the changes of being a fast reader. But of course, having a healthy life style can help you, because reading is using our brain right? so in order for our brain to work properly we must eat the right foods for our brain, we should be more careful in our diet. we must eat the right foods, and of course drink plenty of water, for in reading, your brain used a lot of water. Every time you read try to have some liquid or something you can eat, like peanuts or maybe some fruits, it will help you much.

I do believe that it is all in our mind. Focus on what you are reading and understand it with an open-heart. Never force yourself to read faster the tendency is you can't comprehend it well.

focus on what you are reading. Catch keywords, you don't have to stay on every word for too long to understand the sentences. Eliminate distractions around you, if you can, find a quiet place where you can read without interruptions. Well, you have to get rid of those habits. That may be the result of you not focusing on what you are reading so you have to go read it again, or it is that you lack vocabulary and don't understand many words on the material you are reading. Hope that helped. Read as much as you can using a variety of reading materials, magazines, books, novels, etc. Practice helps!
