Do you grab anything to eat when you are alone at home?

I do and more often than not I end up making sandwiches or quesadillas. I always have cheese and ham at the fridge and many times I also have an avocado and tomatoes. Do you make sandwichs or other easy and yummy meals? Or do you cook as usual? Share!

When I'm alone at home, I like to keep very busy, so won't stop to grab something to eat until I've had a full day. However, I will snack to keep going; although I'll make sure to avoid anything that might make me feel overly sluggish, and I won't sit down, I'll just eat on the move as it were. Some of my favourite snacks might include plain bread (without butter or anything), pieces of salad, peanut butter straight from the jar, tiny little tomatoes taken with salt, and so on. As anyone reading this will realise, I hate eating during the day...it interferes with my beloved activity, and makes me so sleepy. Eventually of course I will eat...but eating for me effectively spells the end of my day, and I'll just collapse after doing so. As might be imagined, I dislike any kind of social eating (although I'll occasionally indulge in it just to be sociable), and will drink coffee rather than have breakfast. I'm not much of an eater am I; although when I do finally eat, I'll eat until I'm full, and will enjoy myself. For me eating is invariably the prelude to a nap..something else I don't like to do during the day. I just love keeping busy; although I know it's not good for me.

In the evening, I'll eat well, and then veg out while watching a movie, or part of a movie. Often also I'll have a late night snack...I eat well...just not much during the day...other than snacks.

What is your beloved activity that is so much better that to eat a little bit of a meal? I am curious because yours is not a common answer. I understand though that too much eating will make anyone sleepy

I don´t like even heating a meal only for myself. So, except in Winter when I´m cold, it is a sandwich for me or at the most an omelette.

hmm I think. if you like you can cook more than one than share it with your family later or your friends. sometimes when I am in the mood, and my home is empty. I invited my friends to make a small party and we do watching them or.....make them cook for me. hahaha

i usually end up eating a peanut butter and jam sandwich when i am at home alone. it is just the easiest thing to put together and often the fastest. see, i often forget to eat because i am writing or crafting until my stomach starts complaining and then i make a quick sandwich.

How about veggies, friend? We must not forget about them. I place some lettuce and tomatoes inside my sandwichs, but they are mainly ham or chicken.

Actually, lately I haven't felt like eating much of anything. It is just that I have been lazy more than anything. Sometimes I will just pop a bag of popcorn or open a can of something (if I have one). I am finding it hard to want to eat anything fancy and I don't keep a lot of sandwich makings around although I should.

I do wish we lived nearer, friend. I bet we would help each other a lot. It´s not fun to eat alone, specially if you don´t have all your energies. How are you feeling, sweetie?

So far I'm feeling fine, but the Gemzar is the easier one. Next week's treatment (Gemzar and Cisplatin) will take 10 hours because they want to do it by desensitization so that I hopefully won't have a reaction like I did with the Carboplatin. I also hear that one is harder on the stomach. We'll see...

Just be careful that those snacks are healthy. We tend to like food that we shouldn´t eat. Take care!

I love to eat. When alone in the house I used to cook instant food like noodles.Sometimes a bread with a cheese or peanut butter will be fine together with a cup of coffee or a soda.Or sometimes chips and biscuits is quite enough too.But when in the mood to cook I do cook.I do eat what is available to eat in the house when I'm alone except for corn cause it really make me allergic.

I am sorry to hear that you are allergic to corn as I find corn very yummy. But I see you have a wide list of food that you like and that are easy to prepare.

I do like you do for lunch especially including eating up leftovers. I'm not picky for lunch but I do make a good meal for dinner because everyone will be there to enjoy it.

The best way for me to use leftovers for a lonely lunch is to make an omelette addind some cheese so it melts and chives. It´s very good!

Yeah I'm kind of lazy sometimes so I usually only put in the effort to cook when its for others. If its just myself there better be some kind of raw fruit or vegetables that only needs to be washed off. I might throw together a sandwich if I'm craving one enough.

Just take care that you eat all the types of food that your body needs. Sometimes we tend to forget that there is something such as a well balanced diet. Do you live by yourself or do you usually cook for more people?

What happens to me is that I don´t much like to eat alone, so I bring something to the computer. Most of the time it is either a sandwich or an omelette except when it is Winter and I prefer a soup.

hi,
yes i did especially when my rest days, because i wanted to eat all what i want, sometimes i will buy and sometimes i cook for it,because food making at home is more nicer than eating outdoors because i can save more money and eat food as many as i can.

When I worked, I took my own meal to work. We had an electric oven to heat it (later we had a micriwave oven and it was easier). I made the food in advance and when I was lazy I went to the cafeteria for something ready made.

Regrettably, yes!
I'm quite an impulsive person and I do have a tendency to act stupid when it comes to food. You see, I had this huge vision of myself getting slim. My mind is on it..big time. But oftentimes, my vision is blurred when I am at home alone..faced with the stocks of foods at the ref. And when there is no food on the ref, I usually go out and buy some food. Silly, silly me!
Anyway, I do am faced with this dilemma when I am alone so I try to have company always.. to divert me to other worthy activity than eating.

I eat a lot more when I have company. When I´m alone, I´m more interested in other things such as mylotting or playing than on food. That´s where sandwiches and other light food come along.

There are lots of yummy diet foods! I love salads. And I also love cooked veggies. I add a bit of olive oil, dry oregano leaves, a pinch of salt and either vinegar or lemon huice and it turns out fine.

There are lots of easy things to do and you can learn by searching at the web. There are sites where they will show you how to make dishes step by step with videos included.

I always keep cheese at the house. I find that it helps out with a lot of meals whether they are quick ones or more elaborate.

I go for sandwiches mostly for lunch time but like to cook some thing for dinner in summer I mainly make salads and winter lots of soups! and I like pasta at least once a week I usually eat dinner alone unless my grandson is around...now he has a new girlfriend so he is not visiting as often as he used to do. My girls visit once a week or so and that is when we make something different and yummy.

I love sandwichs and omelettes for lunch when I´m alone. But in Winter I boil some chicken and will add some broth to take to my computer instead of coffee. There´s nothing like any soup to keep us warm.

Some times I have a mood for cooking even when I'm alone at home. But this doesn't happen often. I usually have some work and I just grab something from the fridge. This evening I took white cheese, a few olives, marinated peppers and one boiled egg. I like also tomatoes and cheese but in the winter they sell greenhouse tomatoes and I don't like them.

I agree with you about the tomatoes. They have quite another taste than the ones that the sun has rippened. The most I make for myself when I´m alone are ommelettes (so easy!) but most of the times I do as you do. Thanks for sharing.

If I had everything to make a couple of sandwiches I would more often. It makes a good lunch depending what you put between the two slices. But I often roast eggs because it is faster for me then to look for what to make for a sandwich. And well Tofu is good too when you can roast it too it is delicious.

Many times the sandwiches I make amount to a whole meal. I always add some tomato slices or avocado or lettuce for the veggies. And then there´s the ham or eggs and the bread.
