Do You Shout The Answers Out Whilst Watching Quiz Shows On TV?

I do this more when I'm at Mum's because she's a bit obsessed with Quiz Shows. I think she likes to keep her brain active and shouting answers at the telly is a good way of letting everyone know she's not losing her marbles!
However, a few days ago she told me "Pointless" was on and it showed a list of rock bands. Contestants had to name deceased drummers affiliated with them. She wasn't actually sitting in front of the screen but listening to it at the back of the room.
Now, one of the bands was Led Zeppelin and Mum shouted out, "BON SCOTT!"
She actually meant to say, "JOHN BONHAM!"
Easy mistake I suppose! Bon Scott being the deceased SINGER of AC/DC of course.
Do you shout quiz answers out at the TV? Would you ever (or have you ever appeared) on a televised quiz show, or known someone who has?
By the way Mum hates it when Nick Knowles says, "Forlse" instead of "False" on "Who Dares Wins" on a Saturday night. That man is sooo irritating but he's on everything at the moment!

I'll admit have shouted out answers at the gym. A group of us were all watching and seeing who could answer the fastest while working out on the gym equipment. A great workout for the body and the mind.

Is there a telly in there? Can't say I've ever been to a gym so I've no idea what the facilities are like. I must admit, I quite like the idea of working out the body and the mind all at the same time.
Good for you!

Most primetime shows at night go at 8 o'clock. Sometimes, we'd be done dinner before 8, and we would be relaxing in the couch watching TV and waiting for the primetimes to go on.
Before they do, Jeopardy would be on. And I do find myself shouting the answers on TV. Although sometimes not in question-form.

That's easy!
It's a game show where there's a board, and all of the answers are there behind dollar values. A contestant would pick out a dollar value, say $100 and then the answer is revealed (usually read by the host). The contestant must provide the question for that answer.
You should listen to the jeopardy jingle! It's hard to get off your head once you hear it.

I don't really know anything about Jeopardy so you're gonna have to explain it to me please.

I don't know that I actually shout, but when I watch Jeopardy, I do answer the questions out loud.
I've never been on a quiz show and I don't know anyone who has. I don't think I'd be very good. I could probably do a pretty good job with the answers, but it's the interview part and talking to the host I'd have trouble with.

Especially if you don't like the host to start with!

I only ever watch quiz shows when I stay with my parents, but I find them really irritating. They take soooooooo long between each question. The worst is that Million Pounds Drop or whatever it's called. Dad was watching it when I stayed last and it drive me completely bananas.

My Mum mentions the Million Pound Drop every time I ring her up lol. To be honest, I can't stand Davina McCall which is the main reason I avoid it.
I can just about tolerate Eggheads (as there is no annoying audience) but I watch that at Mum's. Like I said, she's obsessed with quiz shows!
Oh, and she absolutely "adores" Bradley Walsh on "The Chase." Apparently, that programme has a cult following!

Yes!! We really like to do so as we like to watch such kind of family programs. It seems that we are taking part on the same game and like the contestant will here the answer and will say the same thing as ours..When we get the wrong answer we will feel stress just like the contestant and will say 'ohhhh~~' and sigh together~Hehe....(^^)

It must be awful for the live audience because they can't do what we do and scream the answers out.

I haven't done it, but have guessed riddle at the TV.We sent TV station the answers. We should win the prize if we guessed a riddle. It seems to me that your Mum is wonderfully alive for her age.The Quiz Shows is good for keeping her brain active. However it is too hard to name deceased drummers, maybe It is easier to name deceased singers than name them.

Good point. Mind you Mum is a Rock Chick like myself so she DOES know them, she just got that particular name mixed up with someone else.

She is impatient to answer it,so sometimes mistakes the name.

Yes, I will answer the questions, but not really shouting. I like game shows and I think there are some that I would enjoy being on.

Well, the reason Mum shouted at the telly was because she was a few feet away from it "rolling her tubes" lol.

I like to watch quiz shows, as it helps to be able to test your knowledge about things that go on in the world and is quite fun to see what you know in comparison to what your family or friends might know. I think that it is a lot easier to play the quiz show if you're at home than if you're in the actual situation where you have to give the answers for money, because you're under much less pressure that way. I would like to go on a game show one day so that I would be able to see if I'm as good there as I was at home, but I doubt that I would be.

Yes, I think it's the same for everybody. I certainly wouldn't want to answer questions in front of an audience, I should imagine it's extremely nerve-wracking. Mind you, there are some dimwits on telly lol.

Yes, I am definately one of those people who shouts answers out at the television while I am watching quiz shows. They are actually my favorite type shows to watch because they are fun and I enjoy testing my mind. So just cheer your mom on and have some fun.

Haha! It's frustrating when a contestant on telly can't think of (what we might call an obvious answer) and there we are screaming at the screen..doesn't work though. They get it wrong and we're left even more frustrated than before!

My brother's favourite programme for that seemed to be "A Question of Sport" which is still running now. I do hope he still watches it because he's very knowledgeable on the subject.

HI... Yes, I do that.. I have done this.. and I still do that... It is kind of an excitement.. I have gained a little extra knowledge on the topics like WWII, Hitler and Churchill, psychology, crimes and criminals etc, through my reading... So many times, I have found myself pronouncing the answer before the options were declared.. and its fun, exciting... :)

hi janey I used to when I first came to Gold Crest as there was a show called CashCab Its filmed in New York City and the driver quizzes his fares and they answer correctly they would win cash and some of them won all the question s. well a lot were things I could answer and I joined the others who were callingout answers. what I loved was I was right about 95 percent of the time. Mike redmond who liked the show and always turned it on stopped doing it and nobody else seemed to know how to get it or else just did not like
iot.b ut I really had enjoyed the show, and Mike would tease me asking me how much I had won. so your moms not alone and it does'keep your brain active. Like your mom I do not want to
lose my marbleds either. lol

I am suck at those Televised quiz show on television though. Maybe I am not knowledgeable enough to compete those contestants on TV. I usually have to think over longer than the time limit though. Actually, your mum is smarter than me.
