I found out from my daughters friend that while she was in Chucky Cheese she witnessed a mom give her one year old pepsi. She saw her pour it into the babies bottle. What is wrong with this mom. My granddaughter is almost 6 and not allowed to have soda. I can't believe a mom could be so naive to think its ok to give a one year old a bottle of pepsi. Have you ever heard or witnessed such a thing and please tell me you wouldn't give your baby a bottle of soda would you???

You mean it should have been a Coke instead? Common sense isn't that common anymore. This mom has no idea that the baby shouldn't have soda.We are all assuming Most new parents are being told what they Should feed their babies but by this you see that isn't the case! It is sad. To answer your question, no I wouldn't give a baby a soda Or any other drink. I know I will never feed a baby period!

I was just trying to be funny. I feared I would have made you more angry. Thank G-d I didn't. And you guessed it. By age 7 I knew I Never wanted children. I stay clear of babies so I Can have my Pepsi/CocaCola in peace. But many new parents Have No idea what a baby should or shouldn't have.

Are she really crazy and out of her mind to give that little kid such drinks? She will make the baby get addicted to it and it will caused her more problem as the baby will insist to have sodas instead of milk. She never learned that soda is not good not just for adults or baby but everyone?? What a bad mom~ She is going to ruin the baby's health and body~

If the mom really want to give her baby with sweet drinks I think she can give the baby honey drinks instead of soda. She just did the wrong thing~ Poor her baby~

I am not one to think little children like that should be allowed such either. It really sets the habits they have later and not to mention how terrible it is for them. I have no problem with a treat when they get older, but it is so important to watch what they eat and drink when they are little.

So true JenInTN. When they get older its ok but not everyday. Soda of any kind can cause cavities, diabetes and obesity. Especially if you start drinking it all the time and at an early age. We only had soda on special occasions and never pepsi or coke when I was growing up. Now I never touch the stuff I rather have lemom water.

I can't say I've heard of it, but you don't know how pure it is. The drink could've been watered down with melted ice. And, the mother probably was concerned the child wasn't getting enough sugar. Babies can be born with diabeties or hypoglycemia. In wich case it wouldn't be unusal for a mother to give their child something unique if they had a good reason for doing so. But, at the same time we shouldn't judge them poorly for it either. Your friend could only report what she saw. And, not know the facts behind it.

Sorry but she witnessed her open a can of pepsi and poor it into a bottle. There was nothing watered down about it. She was in Chucky Cheese where she could have gotten water or juice if she felt the child needed sugar instead of putting soda into a baby bottle.

I agree, people are just negatively commenting on the matter without knowing the full story. and on the other hand I know that soda is bad for you but then again thats just you. Many people see things in a different sense than you do.

The mother must be ignorant of the health risk sodas give to people, much more to kids.

That is why I think a parent to be needs to take a course and pass a test to have a baby.

Giving a one year old soda is really bad because it's acidic and their teeth aren't that big, that's an easy way for them to get cavities and it's probably not good for a little baby to have Pepsi right now.

Pepsi or coke are not good for anyone at any given age in my opinion. I just think that any soda at that age with the carbonation of the drink can't be good for a baby or toddler.

Any type of soda at such an age is ridulious. I don't know what she is thinking and I just wonder how many moms do this. Not for nothing but pepsi and coke are not even good for adults let alone babies.

I remember when my Grandchildren were given apple juice in their bottles. This was very popular at that time and not wanting to be a bossy Mom I said nothing, now of course we all know how bad that is for children. What I am saying is that there are always fads and this may be just that a fad, to me soda sounds even worse than that sugar ladened apple juice, but it may not be. All my grandchildren survived overdoses of sugar in their constant consumption of apple juice, so even though it wouldn't be my choice I would guess the child will be fine. Just think of all the things you ate as a child which we now know were not at all healthy. All you can do is make the most wise choice for your own child. Blessings

Besides the sugar I'm thinking of the carbonation of the soda. That is really very powerful stuff to intake for a baby. It is not as smooth as drinking apple juice. I hope its not a fad and that its just one dumb mom because I know if doctors heard about this they would be very upset and call it a form of child abuse.

Pepsi in a bottle? That's just wrong! Besides the caffeine, too much of it will rot their teeth! Ohhhh, hope that baby isn't addicted to soda already - that could lead to diabetes and obesity down the road! No, I wouldn't give my baby a bottle of soda. We don't drink soda in this house, but I will say my kids were curious about it. One sip and they were done - like me, they didn't like the fizziness of it. So anytime we go somewhere and it's around, they don't ever ask for it.

Growing up in my house as a child we only had soda on special occasions like birthdays and we were over the age of ten. Also we never had pepsi or coke in the house. It would only be orange, 7up or rootbeer soda. Now I don't drink soda at all and all I usually drink is iced green tea, lemon water or hot teas.

Just recently my colleague was telling me about her friend who drank pepsi throughout her pregnancy and that got her child addicted as well and the kid has been drinking it for breakfast every morning! He is now 12 years old and probably would continue to do that out of habit. Now which sensible mother would do this to her kid?

Like already said here ,caffein and sugar are bad to consume at any age. Eating unhealthy things at a young age can lead to unhealthy eating on older age. The sad thing is that the baby doesn't even have a choice or information to consider it just happens to him. Being a parent means a lot of responsibility , many things to plan a head like education , loving , taking care of the kids and making a good example to them. It is a profession that must be learned before doing it , in my opinion. One can't let himself being an ignorant , it's like a crime , espacially in this information generation. There is a book of knowledge for almost every thing , damit!!

Since fathers and mothers don't care to smoke with a baby on their lap this doesn't surprise me at all.

Wow lelin, thats not good at all...I mean pepsi is not good for adults so it can't have any positive results for a one year old baby...I can not imagine what mother was thinking about... In life some people do things because they just don't know any better and some do things because they just don't care.... but why must children pay for the ignorance of an adult..

I truly believe that since we need a license to get married, to drive and to be a doctor etc... parents to be, should have to pass a test and get a license to bring a baby home. There are to many stupid parents out there that don't need or should never be a parent in my opinion.

A lot of parents nowadays see nothing wrong with giving babies and toddlers soda. They are not aware that they are giving their kids literally poison. I would never give my babies soda or juice drinks (the bottled or store bought kind). It's no wonder why some kids are very hyperactive. Kids are being fed more and more sugar. And what's worse, kids these days are very inactive and tend to just sit in front of a TV or a computer. No wonder childhood obesity has risen over the past few years. It's because parents themselves make wrong food choices for their kids.

I really can't believe that a mother would do that! Why would she do it? It's definitely not good to give your child pepsi, especially when they are so young. I can't believe what's going through her head.

Hiya lelin, From what I know they used to put Tea in our Baby Bottles then so I think that was not a good idea either but Pepsi for a one year old is not a good idea at all. There are so many things that go on and you cannot do anything about either. Tea was very strong then as it was the real tea that came in a lovely old fashioned type of tin. For me I should not have been having that at all but I suppose the hunger and lack of money had a great deal to do with it as well. There were still Food War Rations when I was small so not a lot of good quality food going around.xxx

This is really crazy. I pity the kid for being a victim to this foolishness. The mom should know better. I would not even say that she does not understand. I would say that the mom is just trying to shut the baby up so she would not be crying so much and be noisy. I believe that the sweetness of the softdrinks woulds shut the baby up, and she would not be asking for more. I think there is a malicious intention, and that might be laziness. The mom should be jailed for this.

A sip or two, probably nothing. But soda is full of articfical sweetners, some that may be linked to health problems. IT also causes cavaties, caffenine is also an addictive stimulatent that children don't need, as they are already naturally pumped full of energy. All around, its really not a great choice for a toddler or any child to drink, nor adults for that matter, but I would figure worse for a growing child. I am not sure if there really is any reason for a parent to put soda in a babies bottle.
