Selfishness?

I have noticed a very disturbing trend in our modern society, the human race seems to be becoming greedier, more selfish and inconciderate. Although I believe greed (in moderation) is a survial trait, when taken to the extreme the greed of an individual can overcome the survival of the species and it could become a death sentence for our entire race. Is there any way to reverse this trend?

It's hard to say whether there's a way to stop the rising of greed in people. Society is bombarded with things that say "Get this! Buy this! You want this! You need this!" and, as we accumulate more and more, we still crave more and more - it's kind of a cycle that never ends.

Yes, I have noticed it also, but the people that are being taken advantage of, have their own survival trait, and that is that one day, they will get tired of being taken advantage of, and they will strike back, and that is a survival trait in itself! 'you can only whip a person for so long, until he has taken enough, and he will strike back and take the whip from you, and whip you with it' !

Well said! I believe we can "strike back" today by adopting a spirit of unity and cooperation with the goal of the survival of the human race. We just need to take back our own power. Our entire global society was set up to make us feel trapped and hopeless, like there's nothing we can do to change the world. That's all an illusion! The 'powers that be' fear the masses because they KNOW we truely have all the power; so they make us believe they have all the power and we're trapped. We are not and have never been trapped! I am very pleased there are people that see what's going on in the world. I was begining to feel quite alone when I originally posted this but these responses have helped give me hope for a bright future for all of us. I don't believe the future must wait for "someday" or the next generation or even tomorrow. Each of us can start building a bright future TODAY through self reflection and changing our own attitudes! My deepest thanks to everyone that responded :)

This disturbing can be decreased but it cannot be erased. Human nature is greed and selfishness. But not all people are selfish. There are some people who are kind and ready to help. As for survival of species depends on the amount of food human needs. As population is growing there is more killing of animals to cater for this population. Life is thus so we must accept it.

Greedy and dissatisfied ... always our selfishness increases considerably every day .... The world will promote their own, do not listen, does not care if people die, if you are suffering, if they have what they wear, if you have to eat. things ... so ... may seem trivial, but not get involved in these things! I want so much to change this world! So much ... What cost us if we show some compassion to those around us? I do not want to give up everything I think, what I dream only to face the realities of increasingly harsh, more cruel ... I'm good like that! And yet ... people knock me, make me suffer .. Why be so? Why do people still have faith in ghosts and are looking for all kinds of misery? Please, wake up! .. Until it is too late ... try to watch every day, this unique gift from the largest and precious giver, as a new beginning in which you can dream unconditionally, you can fix the mistakes of yesterday and help people .... not hard, not impossible! .. The conclusion of what I wrote would be this: "If people are good only because they fear punishment, we are, indeed, a pathetic bunch." Albert Einstein
