In my country people are more or less a kind of dependent on astrology.
here if you are getting married you need to check for auspicious dates and times and then get married.
even in arrange marriages the "birth sign" hold immense significance as they decide whether that person is eligible for you or nor whether you are going to be happy with him or not.
people here tend to consult astrologer even to inaugurate their new business or shops or any significant matter as such.
astrology do play a significant role in many people's life but for me its still a question mark.
how can the position of stars and planets affect your life or your business or profession??
how can the situation of one planet can change the longevity of happiness and prosperity in your life??
many many many such question are there in my mind. but still i never got a prominent answers.
why people believe in astrology and why not??

Astrology is a complex subject. It can take a person lot of time to fully understand it. In California, there are institutes that teach astrology. I am not a part of them, but I love learning all about the subject. Do I completely believe in it? No. I mean I would not let it dictate my life. I actually started taking it seriously after reading the compatibility reports of me and my ex's. They were spot on. Even the paragraphs on breakups turned out to be right. Yet I will not call them predictions. Compatibility reports show good and bad sides of a relationship. It is only up to us on how we improve it so there is a subtraction of the bad side.
I use astrology to understand people. In America, this is the usual case. People are more interested in learning about people's personality through astrology.

hello divineathena,
well there is the question of mine that is there really some kind of connection with our lives to this subject?
you have got some reasons to have some kind of faith in this subject, may be there are many others who have found their prediction came true and thus have a believe in astrology.
even there was a time i was actually picking up interest in astrology but whenever i started believing in it people around me started laughing at me, so i had to abandon the idea completely.

I won't say that planets make up the stories of our lives. However, their influences do make us choose what we want in our lives and that is what creates the stories. There are several planetary positions and aspects which get engraved in our personalities as soon as we are born. Some examples include:
Moon- This one governs emotions through the sign in which stayed during our birth. For instance, X has moon in Taurus. That means his emotions have Taurean traits.
Venus- This one decides what type of people we prefer in our lives and how we perform in relationships. So if X has Venus in Capricorn, he will be more interested in women who are serious minded and goal oriented. Additionally, in relationships, he will be quiet serious. This happens because Capricorn is career driven and quite serious. However, if X ended up with Venus in Aries he would have preferred aggressive type of women. Aries is impulsive and prefers adventure over seriousness. So X would have been impulsive in choosing his women and also would have got bored in stable relationships.
Planets can also have different aspects like sextile, square, conjunct and so on. They too influence our actions and thoughts.
If you get into a relationship with someone and ask an astrologer to make a compatibility chart for you and your partner you will find him generating report that shows crossing of your planets with your partner. They basically will give you highlight of strength and weakness of your relationship with him. If you use them to cautiously go forward with your relationship you will be happier with your partner and love life.
Yeah, people always think that astrology is something to be laughed about. Perhaps, that is why, it is often discussed within closed rooms. But I have been noticing that those who have something bad in their charts are the main ones to take astrology as a joke. Take my sister for instance. She is a Gemini. Oh my God, she was so into astrology before. But now from Yahoo Answers she came to know that Gemini is the most hated sign in USA. So she has stopped believing in astrology. In fact, she jokes when I try to talk to her about it.
Let people say what they want. Their job probably is to weaken your belief from astrology so that you do not try to read them at all. But trust me, it can help you choose the right people and career in your life.

Dear Sayo! I don't believe in astrology as I feel there is no logic in it! I am really failed to understand how the position of the planets can influence one's life! I really feel funny when the astrologers ask us to perform some rituals to correct the bad influences by these planets! I think this is nothing but a sort of business for the astrologers! The common man with weak mental make up fell prey to such gimmicks and paying through his/her nose to rectify the so called ill effects!
So far I never used astrology in my life and I never had any bad effects in my life! I git married without any astrological involvement! We have gt a son and we never got anything pertaining to astrology like 'Kundali' etc for him but today he is a earning Engineer and we are all happily placed!
So in my opinion believing in the astrology is nothing but a blind belief and we should stay way from it! Thanks!

hello AKRao,
well yes i find you have a point here.that is the same question in my mind that why people will have faith in such irrational and illogical facts and subject.
but yes may be we human have a tendency to avoid uncertainty and problems in our lives and always want a way to know their future to have a control over certain events.
may be its personal belief of people and it varies from person to person.

Not really for the most simple reason. The future is not set in stone. There is one person who is control of what happens in our life or at least has the ability to make the decisions that we have in life, that being us. The person that looks back at you from the mirror each and every day. There are just a lot of times where we make the wrong decisions but such is life.
There are times where nothing is set. Nothing is rather written in the stars. Those times are all of the time. I chuckle at some of the predictions that are made, but amusement is about as much as I'm going to get out of astrology is some entertaining value. I just rather shake my head at anyone who takes it seriously. Poor naive individuals.

I believe in astrology, if your birth data, i mean time of birth, day/month/year of birth and place of birth is correct, you get accurate predictions..

for my own of course i do believe that the ramdom position of stars and planets at that time of someone births are coincides with who they are as a person. person's personality has nothing to do with their parents genetic and the people they grew up with. in your country they are dependent in astrology is not a big problem perhaps, just believe and do it, it doesnt matter.

I don't believe in astrology. Two words James Randi. Ever since I was a kid, I always wondered why the horoscope was such a big deal in the newspapers. I always made it a habit to tear of the days horoscope from the daily paper and see if any of their predictions would come true, especially for me. As I have observed it was always a 50/50 chance of a certain prediction to come true. As time went on I dismissed astrology as a medieval belief in stars governing your fate. Later on in life I discovered an interesting character in Youtube by the name of The Amazing Randi. You could look him up if you find yourself wondering if Astrology is true or just a hoax.
Just something to think about. Peace out!

well, for me personally nowadays, i don't believe in astrology anymore..when i was younger i can always read or hear about it on magazines or tv and i was made to believe they were real,,.but upon observation,..nothing in it ever happened to me in real life or gave me luck or anything like that..now i realize we should not make it a basis or to depend on it for the luck in our life and business..i believe whatever happens to us depends on us and not on these kinds of things and predictions..

Well.. there's nothing wrong if you believe in astrology as long as you don't depend on it all the time... I believe in the concept of order of things... somehow if you follow it there might be better things to happen.
