I mean every single time? I would say that it depends on the symptoms, if they've been sick before and I know how to handle it then no I don't, but if they are really sick and after a day or so nothing changes then yes definitely. When my 5 year old was about 4 weeks old he got croup, I had no idea what it was, I just thought it was a really bad cold but he was coughing like a seal and seemed like he was having trouble breathing, so we rushed him to the ER. and explained how to treat it. that scared me very bad. They say once they have it they will get it all the time, and he got it every few months until age 5 which is now, so I knew how to treat it and didn't have to take him back again, until this last time he got it again real bad and spiked a really high fever. My 11 month old a few months ago got a real bad ear infection which also was my first time experiencing that and he spiked a really high fever too, that scared me so I rushed him to his doctor. so sickness like that yes they would be going to the doctor.

It seems alot of younger people rush to the Dr for every little thing there child has. And by Younger I mean people in the last 10 15 years or so who have kids. I know when I was a child you were only taken to the Dr if you needed stitches or something was broken. Of course I was a sixth child so at that point I guess Mom and Dad knew a cold was a cold. My nieces and nephews all in there 20s and 30s were only taken to the Drs for checkups and shots. And of course the obligatory ear problems alot of children have..I would say its a family thing but my niece is like that with her children a sneeze call the Dr and her Mom wasnt that way.. I do believe that is one of the problems today that people go to the Dr way more often than they need to and it almost becomes a habit, one by the way drs def dont stop unless you have no insurance.

if the fever or sickness lasts for about 2 days or more then that is the time i will decide to rush my child to the doctor but so far, my child hasn't experienced anything serious with any sickness..so if she has a fever, then i will just give her a paracetamol to reduce fever or if she has any colds and cough..usually i give her medicine to reduce this then sometimes everything goes well after a day or two..if not, then it can be a cause of great concern already that needs to be brought to the hospital or doctor..

Dear Floridachick! I am a Stud Vet and I stay on a farm far away from township! So many a times it becomes not possible to visit a doctor fr small things! Since I deal with medicines and have fairly good idea about the side effects and the uses of medicines I can use the medicines conveniently in case of some minor problems! Now I am 50+ and I don't have any children with me! I have got a son who is now about 26 years old! I used to take him to doctor when ever I feel hat he requires an physician's attention! This will depend upon the severity of the symptoms, season in which he used to get ill and characteristics of the symptoms he used to exhibit! Personally in my opinion it is not a good idea t give medicines , especially to children without consulting the doctor as many medicines have severe side effects and some medicines are not recommended for kids at all! So let the problem be handled by the doctor as this is a specialized field! More over doctors they have the idea about the infection prevailing in the area under given time and thus he may give some advice along with the medications for the children, which may prove very helpful! In case of Viral fever, the doctor wold advice to be careful as this can be infectious or contagious ! so we can take necessary precaution by keeping other members of the family away from the patient till the time he/she gets fully cured! Thus if I feel that the illness is serious in nature then I would advice to take the children to the doctor and let him handle the situation for you! Thanks !

That's OK for you to do that since you have a baby. It's best to see a pediatric for babies. They will also teach you how to deal with simple remedies in the future.

I don't if it's just simple coughs and colds. But if there's fever for more than two days, I have to bring my child to a doctor already.

When child get sick we will not bring to the doctor immediately. We first do the first aid. We use herbal medicine or any possible cause of the sick to prevent it.

no, not all the time... my mom really knows how to take care of the children(my nieces) and most of the time if they are feeling sick my mom would just give them some chinese medicines... etc.

I took my daughter to the doctor due to an ear infection. I took my disabled son to the doctor due to a chest infection. I don't take them for colds and coughs or flu. When my disabled son gets a high temperature it greatly worries me because it could be a shunt problem. Breathing difficulties really scared you understandably. Today I took my disabled son for an appointment with a surgeon. That surgeon did two operations on him when he was born and when he was two weeks old. My disables son needs to have regular check ups. Earlier this month he has had three other hospital appointments.

hi. same with you. it depends about the symptoms. if its severe infections with high fever, i will immediately take my son to his pediatrician. for occasional fever, coughs and colds, we have medicines at home for quick remedy. i'm also a practicing natural mom so we used herbal medicines first before chemically treated medicines. it works most of the times.

Not every single time though. When the fever does not subside after three days, then we should take them to the doctor.

My daughter has been to the doctor for being "sick" twice. Once when she had a tick to get antibiotics, the other because she was running a high grade fever for over 24 hours. They did a strep test it came back negative, so they did not give antibiotics but said I could call if the fever spiked again and they would call in a prescription to my local pharmacy. So, no, i do not bring my kid every time she seems to be the littlest bit sick. I have been lucky to have a pretty healthy child.

Yes, of course,But I first assess my child's condition. If the sickness that he has can be managed at home then I keep him at home if his condition can't be managed at home then I rush him to the hospital

Over a year since my daughter was born she has been sick 3 or 4 times and I've only taken her to the doctor onces. So no I domt take her all of the time. She's had the normal colds the first time she was sick was at 3 months and she had a cough and we called the doctor she told us what to do. A month ago she went to the doctor for a high fever.

We take them to the doctor only if it is something we cannot handle ourselves. We found taking to the doctor every time was counter productive. When we were doing that they often caught something worse in the waiting room. We learned that if we took them to the doctor for a cold at the beginning of the winter we'd end spending most of the winter with at least one of them sick most of the time. Not a real good idea. Doctors themselves will tell you not to bring them in if it is something you can handle safely yourself.
