Today my friend was gone into the bank and ask the swift code wardha SBI bank but the manager told her swift code is not provided as branch wise. You can write SBI Nagpur branch swift code. Is is right my friend can put Nagpur branch swift code in moneybookers.com site. In small town Bank no swift code is.

All branches will not be SWIFT enabled. Only specific branches will be SWIFT enabled. However, I'm not sure whether you can mention Nagpur branch code for an account held at another branch. I'm not familiar with this SWIFT transactions. Probably your friend will have to open an account in that SWIFT enabled branch.

While you are taking about SBI branch and where i know all sbi branch is online and interlink with each other, so if your branch give you ATM card that mean they are online branch and where as SWIFT Code every sbi branch has their individual swift code and i know the sbi people they are not willing to help the people so easily. So asked some other person in the bank and put the right swift code. As when Speak asia survey company send me the payment through SWIFT code and my branch is also in a rural area but the manger of the branch know the SWIFT code.

I'm not familiar with SWIFT transactions, but from your case what I guess is, the transactions are routed through the SWIFT enabled branch. (Since SBI is having core banking, there may be any possibility of using the main branch's SWIFT code. But I don't think every branch would be SWIFT enabled.)

SWIFT what it is? what is it used for and why you need it. why all branch is not SWIFT enabled. i had known that most of banks are centralized means we can desposit and withdraw anywhere from any remote area. but still few bank are not linked. i might thin it would be like that only. i know there is code which reoresent the bank at internatinal level. but i don't know SWIFT.

SWIFT code is needed for international online transactions. This code will be assigned to select branches only, based on requirement.

hi fanta I am guessing this is some code known only to people in India As I am a lowly American in California in the United s tates'I am going Swift code, what the heck is Fanta talking about. All I know is that while my bank account is in tustin and I am here in Garden Grove I use the nearby Garden G rove branch of my B ank of America bank./ I am so glad that I cen use this as its about two thirds of a block from G old Crest. This way I can bank locally and really I do my banking here on line. I use my debit card to order stuff on line, its all so very convenient for me. Glad I do not need to know about these codes.

Even I got the same reply form my bank. They told me to put main branch's (from my city) swift code in money bookers site. And I already filled it too. I guess moneybokkers only wants to know swift code to identify the bank.. and this will complete their requirements.. After all even there in different branch account number can't be the same. So I guess we can get money in our account even entering different branch's swift code.... They also allow first 8 digit swift code for some bank which means they only wants to identify bank.. Why don't you try with first 8 digit of SBI bank.

fantabulus--please see this link http://www.theswiftcodes.com/india-state-bank-of-india/ according to this every branch has a separate swift code. In case it is not an authroised branch and the money is received through another branch then the branch manager of your branch has to give the swift code of that main branch.

Actually the bank swift numbers are of the branch where ur friends wants to send money, so you should have a genuine and actual swift code of that bank, then only you can receive the money. or you can just send the money to the main branch and then they can transfer the funds to your bank account.

e SWIFT code consists of 8 or 11 characters. When 8-digits code is given, it refers to the primary office. First 4 characters - bank code (only letters) Next 2 characters - ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code (only letters) Next 2 characters - location code (letters and digits) (passive participant will have "1" in the second character) Last 3 characters - branch code, optional ('XXX' for primary office) (letters and digits) http://www.theswiftcodes.com/india-state-bank-of-india/ We can get swift code from our bank branch.
