Under device manager, its shows two Pentium D processors. Is this running on fou

Under device manager on a certain computer it shows under processors two Pentium D processors...Does this mean this computer is actually running on four cores? Would it do any good to upgrade to a quad core if the current computer is running on two dual core processors? Thanks
