I always have problem to control my credit card usage and unable to beat my temptation to do shopping and ruin up my cash flow by overuse credit card. I have succeed to close two out if six credit card by last year, I have cut my account there as well..However I feel still hard to have credit card since you will never know when the tempation coming in..For example, I have bought electronic items and almost close to the payday. So I promised my self to bought any items by using credit card and directly pay on the end month and self promised or plan to pay everything to avoid interest charge, however that good plan was never happen to me since I always tempted to use the cash for shopping. And at the end of the day,my debt will always increasing more and more..
How about you? Do you have any better or more realistic sample?

I also have such problem too, but lately, I won't do any shopping or avoid to go to mall or browsing the electronic store anymore. I would rather stay home and not want to buy anything at all. That is one of my solution to my problem. Now, I am still struggling to work my way to pay off debt. Hopefully I can rein my temptation, and not wanting to buy anymore.

Well, that was fantastic idea..I also use debit card but for whatever reason not as convenient to control budget like the traditional hard cash way.. sometimes we need to really taking note on every details of our expenditures if using debit card, if not then I always thinking still have money on the bank but actually already utilize..well, that was great regulation on your country now..maybe it will helps many people who unable to control and organize the budget like me……appreciate your response..

oops sorry... I copy wrong comments on your feedbacks...here's the correct one..
Well, you have good points…better not force us to go shopping before we are doing survey from internet..maybe we can do survey to shopping mall but not carry our credit card inside our wallets..then we can really hold temptation to buy something if we found really fantastic cheap discount price..well, I also still struggling to pay credit card bill…that was good for you to hold buying anything……appreciate your response..

When I started having problems paying all of my bills, I went cold turkey for a year. I didn't go to any stores except the grocery store, and even then I only used cash.
You have to find a method that works for you. The only reason this worked for me is because I found other ways to keep busy. I'd never been fond of shopping anyway, I usually just went if my friends were going or if I needed something, but for that time period I just made things work without buying anything.
It was hard. Sometimes I went out with friends and they would suggest that i buy a nice shirt or other item, and I'd have to say no.

Well, you have good points.. sometimes really difficult to hold our temptation especially in front of our friends.. I always get excited when visit shopping mall with my friends and every one took shirt or shoes , I usually also decided to buy something even small ones..the problem would be exist if I don’t have enough cash since I usually still bought those things with my credit card, it was easy and forgettable …meaning I always forgot to pay it in full payment as well.. really appreciate your response..

What I do is set up a budget. I categorize it into specifics and goals. And for large goals, such as lets say, a new wide screen tv, I will put so much away a month. And with food, I figure how much I spend a month. I make sure never to transfer something from what I am saving for to another. For instance, if I am putting $10 a month for magazines, and I am also putting $50 aside a month for getting an easy chair, then if an easy chair comes up for sale for $500, and I only have $450 set aside for that, and I have $50 in my magazine account, I will not transfer fhe money from the mag. account to pay for that chair, because I know that the magazine might be a very good magaine. It is known as delayed gratification. So in the end, when you have the money in your account for what you want, then you put it on credit card and then transfer the money from your checking account to the credit card.
Also you know in advance what you have. Another way is to put all the monies alloted to credit cards in one place. That way if you spend $250 a month on credit cards a month, that i the whole amount, not jut the one for groceries, clothes, etc.

Well, you have really good points here..meaning you have really good financial plan and using it properly in discipline manner..That was my problem to control my temptation..sometimes I also try to do delay gratification and allowed me to pay credit card off without any interest but most of the time it won’t works since I always using it for something else either……appreciate your response..

well, that was wonderful idea.. I have tried that once and already cut two of my credit cards ..however, I sometimes still need the credit card for buying airline ticket through online system..I think that was really great idea if we have good income over the internet and no need to worried about this kind of issues any more..you are right, we have tendency to be consumptive if always hanging out to the mall, even for windows shopping but our memory cannot stand to buy the things on the next visit..really appreciate your response..

I can tell you one good solution - use debit cards!
I few years ago I needed money for home repair and I first decided to take a credit card. But I learned that the interests are too high and finally I took a loan. In my country there is also a national database and you have to fill papers in order to get a credit card. But year ago it was easier and banks wanted to have more clients. A good friend of mine took a credit card without having a job. Now there is a judicial investigation against her.

I wonder how one person can get six credit cards. In my counntry this is only possible if you have a very very high income and no debts or debts you can pay of or no high debts payed off in within the last 5 years.
Every loan, credit card or cell phone you buy is registered in a National database. If you want an other loan, or creditcard they will inform over there first. Also you have to give a lot of info about yourself, the bills you have to pay off each month, your income, how many people live from it etc etc. So the chance you get 1 credit card is not that big anymore now a adays. If you have a credit card it also depends on your personal financial situation if how much this card is valid. You also have to pay it off each month, or the total amount within 1 month or they take it from your bank account. Perhaps other countries should do a thing like that too? It will make it way easier to not overuse it. BTW the credit card is not that popular over here. There are only less shops or restaurants where you can pay with it, some gasstations you can and Ikea. So it's mostly used by rich people and those who have to pay something on the internet or make an reservation where a credit card is needed. But if you pay with that they even dare to ask extra (administration costs or?) and you have to pay back more (the interest of the credit company). This next to the yearly cost for having that card you have to pay also.

Well, I have only six credit cards.. some of my friends even having more credit cards, I have heard until more than ten credit cards for one people..That was happened below three or four years ago..At that time, really easy to apply for credit card and even the salesman were everywhere offering the cards. . In facts, three out of six was my wife cards which additional ones and I had never applied for..The salesman just called me and force me to have additional cards..You are right, now the regulation are more tight and actually that for the good reason for credit card consumer as well.. really appreciate your response..

Congratulations on closing two out of six credit cards!
Now if you want to have a realistic goal, maybe you should try and close two more of the remaining four credit cards you have. And then later on just leave one.
I think that the lesser credit cards you have, the lesser your temptation would be. If you continue to have the means, you might not be able to control yourself.
Goodluck!

In my country also credit card debts are increasing because using too much above their pay grade and limit, due to banks giving out credit card without proper checking and also for profit. One way to reduce credit card debts is to use Debit Card instead.Debit card will deduct the amount directly in the saving accounts , hence your use what your have cash in bank.

Cut all your credit cards and stop going to mall unless it is really needed.
That is also one of my problems before, but as soon as I got pregnant. I did all the things needed for me to stop being a shopaholic.
I've loan money in the bank and paid all the credit card debts I have. But see to it that the interest rate of your loan is lower than the interest rates in your credit cards.
Now, the only thing I need to do is to pay the monthly amount from my loan and buy things or save money for my baby. :D
