oppositional difiant disorder is just so hard for me to understand. I have a daughter who has been diagnosed with ODD and honestly it is just making me so very frustrated and tired not to mention the tears I have cried. She is in the hospital today because of her outburst last night all over telling her to pick up her coat off the kitchen floor. What are ways to deal with these outbursts? She is 17 by the way. Help I will try anything at this point.

I didn't know what it was at first but after some research I was surprised to discover that it applies to me, a lot. I think it's not that weird because most of it is basic teenager stuff - even though I understand that your daughter has it ten times worse than a regular teenager - and I understand that the situation must be really difficult. I think it's important to listen to her and to accept that some things aren't changeable. But then of course, you shouldn't accept anything. I don't know if she's in therapy or something? Maybe you could go together.

Yes she is and we do go together two times a week. They will also be bringing in a person twice a week into the home to work with her.
