What wierd things does your cat demand?

Murphy, my lynx point Siamese, demands whipped cream on a daily basis. She actually got the taste for whipped cream when she was a kitten, 17 1/2 years ago. When Mom and I would have a Sundae we would have whipped cream on them and it would never fail, Murphy was up on my lap in a flash demanding her share of the sweet creamy fluffy clouds of whipped cream. She stopped demanding it when she got older but she is again demanding whipped cream twice a day. I can't refuse my little princess as she has been such a great friend and wonderful companion sharing my grief when my Mom passed away 11 years ago. Murphy was pretty water logged during the year after Mom died, she knew I needed someone close and she would crawl up on my chest, wrap herself around my neck and let me cry into her fur. With love like that you can't deny her a little treat. Especially since she doesn't weigh too much, I weighed her and she weighs in at 3 1/2 pounds. If I don't have canned whipped cream on hand Murphy pouts and lets me know her displeasure. So, I make sure that whipped cream is at the top of the shopping list each time we go to town. When she gets her little bowl of whipped cream you can hear her purring through the whole house! Who can deny that kind of appreciation? What does your cat crave or demand that isn't the norm? Do you get the teasing that I get at the grocery store because they know who the whipped cream is for? Does your cat pout if you don't have their favorite treat on hand for them?

I haven't met a cat yet that doesn't like cheeze. But my tuxedo cat whom we just call Kitty loves cheeze but not just any cheese. It has to be those cheese strings thats a swirl of american cheeze and cheddar cheeze. And boy does he let me know when I've forgotten that it's time for his bedtime snack. If I happen to forget one night or if I pull a double shift at work or something. He's always at home sitting and waiting on the couch for me to get home meowing as loudly as he can griping how I wasn't home all night lol. Or he'll sit at the bedroom door and meow loudly and scratch the door til I just can't sleep any more and I get up to give him his cheeze. And I can't just get the whole thing out and leave it for him to munch on throughout the night nooo I have to sit up with him and give it to him little string by little stringy bit. He's a pain in the butt with it but it's soo absoutely adorable I can't help but feel gratified after giving him his snack knowing that I've made him happy like he does me in so many ways that he will never understand!

Murphy isn't big on cheese, but Khuay loves a little sample of string cheese. Khuay is a flame point Siamese and is the crazy cat in the household. He likes the cheese warmed though so that he can slurp it like spaghetti. He's a total riot! ROTFL. He manages to do something crazy every day. This morning, while I was still in bed; he walked up between my legs, up my chest, stood with his nose on my nose, and looked me in the eye and meowed once, turned around and walked back the same way he came up. When he got to the end of the bed he flopped down and went back to sleep. I would love to know what went on in that crazy little mind of his! I love how you spoil your little tuxedo. I had a Rottweiler that I named Kitty just to torture the neighbor that lives next door. It was so much fun to go outside and holler "here kitty kitty kitty" and have 6 cats and a large dog come running much to my neighbor's annoyance. Keep spoiling your little guy, and hug him for me and my four little bosses.

The preferred treat here is cheese. The youngest cat will awaken and dash to the kitchen from wherever she is at if she hears the sound of the magical, wonderful, delicious cheese being removed from the fridge. She's had a thing for cheese since she was a baby; I don't know how it started, but I quickly found myself being conned out of chunks of cheese. Her big brother likes cheese, too. However, she's the one who has led him down this path. His primary interest has long been yogurt, which I think is a fairly typical cat interest.

Abby (one of the dogs) love yogurt which is wonderful as it keeps the gas emissions to a minimum. The cats don't care for it though. Today I had a bowl of potato chips sitting on my work table and I went to the bathroom. As I was coming back down the hallway I heard a "crunch,CRUNCH,{b]CRUNCH[/b]". I thought it was one of the dogs who had managed to sneak the bowl down. I was shocked to find Khuay (one of the cats) happily chomping down tater chips! He gave me a look as if to say "isn't it normal for us to like potato chips?" and kept crunching. Don't you love the way that our wonderful furry companions can con us out of things that they feel are super yummy? Murphy is one of the best con artists I've ever owned!

A certain calico used to steal chips from me. She was absolutely shameless in her potato chip quest. More than once, I found her with her fuzzy little face in my potato chip bag. I'd sort of forgotten that until you mentioned your cat eating potato chips; she's been gone for more than a year, and I'd forgotten some of her little quirks.

Star has been sick for a while, and she lets us know if we are late on feeding her breakfast and dinner! And Solo, you remember we had his teeth done last year, but he still wants wet food for breakfast and makes a pest of himself if we don't let him in with Star for the food. And Star loves her Solo, she rubs against him - she's really lonely now that her two companions, Sassy and Pudge, have passed on to the Bridge.

Khuay sucking down Ole Roy gravy - Khuay loves the gravy from Ole Roy canned dog food. I have to leave the can out so he can have his "breakfast" or he will climb in the fridge to get to the can.
You're as bad as I am when it comes to spoiling your four footed furry friends (or in my case fiends). Khuay had burned his paws on the wood burning stove just after I got him; and while he was recovering I would spoon feed him, on my bed. I also carried him to the litter box and back to the bed, brought him fresh water (warmed of course), and brought him cream (no coffee or sugar please). Come to think of it, no wonder why my cats are spoiled! But I felt so awful that he burned his feet that I worked overtime to make it up to him. Fortunately it wasn't a deep burn and as soon as it happened I soaked them in cold water for a good 20 minutes. The burn didn't turn out as badly because I kept my head and soaked his feet. It was still painful for him but not as deep a burn or as desperate as it could have been. I also applied Aloe to them three and four times a day. What surprised me was that he didn't try to wash off the Aloe...possibly because it was directly from the plant. I'm going to be heart broken when Murphy passes on the Bridge. She has been such a love and so understanding and just like the character, Murphy Brown, she has been whiny and demanding. But at 18 she should get her own way. At least you're not spoon feeding Solo. But the wet food can be lapped up and there is more flavor and the "gravy" (for lack of a better term) is so tasty. Khuay doesn't care for the canned food, but loves the liquid that the food has around it. He also loves the gravy around the Old Roy canned dog food from Wal Mart. I have some of the cutest pictures of his head stuffed in the dog food can. Be honest people, how many of us kitty lovers can resist spoiling those cute little kitty faces?

Awwww that's sweet! And you're very thoughtful pet owner! You really are. As for my cats, I have 12 of them so they have a variety of things that they like and at different times of the day. In the morning, depending on who's around, when I have my breakfast, some like to have a scoop of butter. Just a little bit and they're happy. However, in the morning they all get some treats as well as the evening and they have their normal dry cat food all day and can food at 'dinner time'.

Oh, another one of Murphy's favorites is mayonnaise! I can't make a sandwich without having her right there demanding her mayo! If I don't give her a little dab she attacks my sandwich, eating bread, mayo and whatever else is there. I made a sandwich one day without giving her mayo, I went to the bathroom before I was going to sit down and eat and came back to find that she had eaten a eighth of the sandwich bread and all!! Then she had the guts to sit by the plate and smirk and burp! LOL, she truly runs the house.

That's such a beautiful story of the loving bond between you and your aging cat. Than you for sharing it. Sure, it sounds like you're spoiling your cat but those people who don't give into what their child or pets wants (within reason) really have no joy in their hearts. My son wanted ice creame at school so we agreed he could have it on Fridays only. It's an expense that we really don't need but he needs to know he can have something he can look forward to it. Your cat is no exception...especially after reading how she's been your comfort after your mother passed away. I have a Siamese cat as well but she hasn't found her voice yet. If your kitty is demanding whipped creame I can just imagine how heart wrenching that must sound since they can imitate a baby's cry. As for what my little Siamese demands...she doesn't demand...she takes. She's gotten better at taking but it used to be you couldn't leave things out in the open or she'd help herself to it. I've never thought of giving her table scraps because my husband forbids it. HAHAHA! He gives me a stern look whenever I try to sneak meat to our dog and he catches me. Oh yeah...about my cat, she'll hop onto my desk where the nip and treats are hidden. If I don't close that drawer, she'll pull out the bag and tear it open with her teeth. She's so naughty but I love her. I hope you have many more beautiful years with your feline. ~Stajarntydarna

I have always had a soft spot for Siamese, and very seldom have not had one. Murphy was a rescue, and when we were getting her from the dog pound 17 1/2 years ago the owner called (after all the paperwork was finished) wanting her cat back. It turns out that Murphy is a $1500 cat with a pedigree. Pedigrees don't mean a thing to me, it's the love shared between us that makes a difference. Murphy's meow is more like a rusty hinge rather than a baby's cry. And when she is demanding something it is like a owl with laryngitis than a cat's cry. Khuay, a flame point Siamese, discovered potato chips the other day. I was working in my work shop cutting out teddy bears when I heard the bag rattling. I looked and there was Khuay's back half outside of the bag while the front part was inside crunching down potato chips. This morning, while I was waking up, Khuay came up and nudged my right arm, so I moved it and he curled up in between my ribs and my arm and took a nap. He is such a love and such an entertaining crazy critter. He is a favorite on the lot for the tales of his escapades. If he hasn't done it it isn't worth being done. Willy is Khuay's brother. I found both of them being given away outside our local Wal Mart store. It was in July and soooo hot! It was around 110 degrees. I took both kittens as I hated thinking of their going to a family who didn't understand Siamese. I had the girls who were giving away the kittens hold the pair for me while I raced back in the store to get a box and something to carry the kittens in, as with it being 110 degrees I didn't want to leave them in the car while I went into the grocery store. I bought a canvas bag, collected my new room mates, and hopped in the car. My boyfriend (now fiance) Bill was in the car, and was happy to welcome the new members of the family. He was concerned about the kittens being in the car while we were in the store, so I told him what was going to happen. We got to the grocery store and I loaded the kittens in the tote bag and we went inside to do our shopping. Khuay curled up on the bottom of the bag and slept through the store, but Willy was more adventurous and hung over the side of the bag watching everything that was going on. He had to stand on his brother to view the outside world, which was fine with both of them. When we got to the check out he proceeded to hop out of the bag and get on the conveyor to get checked out. The cashier was a bit shook because she didn't know that they were selling kittens. But she picked him up, petted him and then weighed him and handed him back. (He tipped the scales at a whole 7 ounces...he now is a fly weight at 22 pounds!) That's how the pair came into my life. There isn't a day that goes by that I'm not glad that I got them. The rest of the clan, Dinglebeary (a MaineCoon cat) Abby (a pit lab mix) Little Bit (a rescued mini Dachshund) and C.D. (another rescued mini Dachshund) all share my home and my love. I can't understand people that don't love animals. They miss out on such joy and unconditional love for the animals in their lives. Sure there may be some extra dirt from their hair and from their going outside, but that is small change in comparison to the millions of dollars worth of love and caring that they give to you. Have you ever given your little girl Siamese fresh cat nip? My crew loves it! It's easy to grow and I harvest them a batch once a week during the summer and once a month during the winter months. I have two pots and a patch planted in the ground near the front door. The fresh cat nip is a lot stronger than the dried stuff and they not only roll in it, but they will eat it which is great for their digestion and also supplies them with nutrients that they don't get from their food. When Khuay gets fresh cat nip his eyes cross even worse! It's almost so bad that it is like they swap sockets. Murphy gets her whiff and will go off to one of her perches and take a nap. Dinglebeary and Willy will eat their way through the nip and then saunter off like it hasn't affected them. Even the dogs will get into the fresh cat nip. It doesn't affect Abby or Little Bit, but C.D. will go nuts and race through the house like a mad dog. He makes about three passes and then will flop on the floor and wave his legs like crazy. Then he goes to his bed and sleeps off the high. Hug your critters for me, I will give each of my kids a hug from you. Have a great day!

My mom got her hooked on some really expensive cat "treat" that costs $1.50 a pop. She won't eat her regular food ( sometimes) now until after she gets that, she is totally spoiled. I am all for spoiling a pet,but this might be expensive after awhile...I'm not so sure a cat should have whipped cream so much though due to the sugar content, I hope your cat eventually can be weaned off of it actually. It worries me is all.

Murphy doesn't get a lot of the cream, and I figure that with her being nearly 18 years old a little whipped cream in her diet won't do her too much harm. It's the only special thing that she begs for so I can't refuse her. She also is one of my rescue cats. I got her from our local animal shelter. She was 6 months old when I adopted her, and the person who dropped her off didn't bother to lock the cage she was in. Of course she escaped and the staff had a heck of a time capturing her. She had 6 huge men chasing her all over their two acre establishment. It took three days to capture her, and the poor thing was terrified. Then come to find out, the gal's boyfriend (who had dumped the cat at animal control after she bit him in self defense) had been regularly abusing her and tormenting her unmercifully. It took me two years to get her to trust anyone other than me, and she never has gotten over being terrified of big men. She also can't stand the cat toys that are on the end of a stick and you wave them around for the cat to play with...I bought one for the cats and when she saw it she raced from the room and hid under the bed shaking for all she was worth. With reactions like that I figure some sugar (which I buy the whipped cream that is light in sugar content) and whipped cream is a nice trade off. Thank you for worrying about my little old lady, it's great that there is someone else that is so concerned about the older generation. ;-)

My cats really like butternut squash. They started begging for it about a year and a half ago when I was peeling it and cooking it for soup for us. I now make their food and put either butternut squash or pumpkin in their food. They like Greenies for their treats.

I thought that the whipped cream was bad enough, but Willy has decided that he loves pulled pork! I did pulled pork last weekend and when I tried to eat sandwiches from it he wouldn't leave me alone! He'd buzz off when I gave him some. But each time I had some of the pork he was back nagging. Talk about spoiling my cats! It's interesting that they like butternut squash. I honestly hadn't heard of a cat liking squash of any sort, it must be that the cook is so great!
